  • I was there; it was truly amazing.

  • hmm, STS-131 starts very early in the morning. i thiink it looks similar

  • What a beautiful launch for the last night one.... Wish I could've been there to see it.... Even though my career choice is far from being an astronaut... sure makes me want to be one sometimes, lol.

  • 0:20 shot should be frozen and framed!

  • let me show you what the sound really SOUNDS like.

  • @ pikalax1

  • The people at NASA and the work that they do has been an enormous blessing to our nation-- we owe them so much!

  • im gonna miss these shuttles, i regret missing the launches/landings

  • According to the tour guides over at KSC, this is the first of the final five shuttle launches. Hopefully NASA can engineer a new recyclable spacecraft that won't be such a huge budget strain and yet can travel farther than the original Space Shuttles. I expect that we'll be back on the moon by 2025.

  • I agree with you. I hope too that they will engineer a new kind of spacecraft. I love the shuttle's and i dont like that they are using the russian Soyuz rockets.´they just dont bring the "NASA spirit"

  • we were gonna be back on the moon around 2020 but obama cancelled the funding for it

  • Obama is an idiot! We need NASA the people there benefit all mankind with the work they do! Sadly you(tacoofdeath13337) are correct he has taken away all their funding for the shuttle's replacement. I guess he thinks insuring illegal immigrants is more important. I just hope that our next President reinstates our maned space program so that we may once again study and travel amongst the stars! Remember what this liberal Chicago ASSHOLE has taken away from us when we go to the poles this year!

  • they should just shoot tazer bullets to all immigrants that try to cross the border, then MAKE THEM go through the process before they are even allowed in the fucking country,

if their country sucks so bad, get off your asses and FIGHT to make it better.

  • Great!Dear my channel's frieds,touch please...

  • Another reason that the shuttle will never launch again because of the economy.

  • Even Iran and India are going into space and it seems like NASA is in limbo under the Obama administration. Its a disgrace. If the cold was was the stimulis for the space program, what about Iran in space?

  • I was there. We talked to a few people there, including some NASA employees. They are not happy at all.

  • Just keep letting others know WHY, so they are informed.

  • NASA has been in a limbo for a long time, it's too large.

  • the voice in the radio is so nice

  • Wow!

What a great blastoff the space shuttle last flight, was just awesome to bad it's the last.

  • I awas also going to say that the space shuttle in its current form is SO outdated. NASA has really gone down hill these days. I dont know where to start but the mis management of funds is one of the biggest problems that I see wrong. They have been using this design for so long. Hmm... They may surprise us though. NASA is pretty tight lipped on certain projects. for instance recently released photos of pluto taken back in 2004. They said it took 4 years to process the images.. yeah right

  • The shuttle looks the same on the outside but is continuosly updated on the inside. This is a spacecraft that was way ahead of its time and in 50 or 100 years will come back to this design again.

  • WoW! Great Work airboyd!

  • I think it is a DISGRACE that NASA, the US, Congress, etc, allowed this to happen. Relying on another country to service our space program is a crime. Add Obama's vision for NASA and what do we have? A sham and shell of what NASA once stood for.

  • Looks amazing when it penatrates the clouds! :)

  • Enjoy it guys, just a few remaining :-(

  • The shuttle's thruster is emitting light later on in the vid, is it burning or it is just a reflection?

  • The SSME's igniting always gives me chills...

  • How are they going to service the space station when the shuttles arent flying anymore, anyone know?

  • As far as I have heard they are going to rely on private space companies to lift them into orbit. There area few big players out there. The best known being virgin galactic. That is all I know.

  • Virgin Galactic is not a player. What their doing this country did in the 50's with the X-15. Now you just have to buy a ticket. Space -X is the front runner now.

  • The Russians, the Europeans and Japan all now have rockets that can go to station. The big loss here is the down mass that the shuttle can bring back. The station loses that capability when shuttle is done.

  • 2:15 there are something....

  • saw that too.. :S

nice video though! thanks for sharing! :)

  • Read all the words in the title, including the 5th word.

  • It is, currently, designated as the last scheduled night launch by NASA

  • If its the last shuttle launch, how are we going to get people to and from the space station?

  • @musicalmike235 through the russian space program; at least that's what i've heard. i thought nasa was going to extend the program until 2011 but i haven't heard anything more about it. it'll be really sad to see the shuttle retired.

  • Night launch. 6 total launches left, according to NASA.

  • @musicalmike235

There are other nations that have space programs, like Russia, Japan, and the EU.

  • I would buy a used one if I had $28.8 million! I heard it comes with a killer AM /FM radio...

  • hahaha, yeah i'd do that too

  • nice

  • I am not so sure this is the last night launch. NASA was forced to stop the new space shuttle programs by the Obama administration, so the current shuttles may be around longer than originally planned. But if this is it, great video, and RIP space shuttles.

  • nice

  • Great launch. RIP space shuttle.

  • The shuttles are amazing space craft, but in my opinion a little too old for this day and age. I don't know if NASA are developing replacements, If not, they should start thinking about it

    awsome vid, btw

  • Great vid
