Cats are very expressive and can tell you what they want without resorting to words. For instance, sitting next to the cupboard which holds her dishes will tell you she wants cream, if she already has food in her bowl.
Lying next to you when you are ill will act as a tonic (cat-a-tonic?)
What fun to cast these two very distinguished dramatic singers in this duet and how they seem to enjoy it! Elizabeth Vaughan had an excellent career as firstly a soprano ( a worldwide success in 'Butterfly') and then mezzo roles. Pauline Tinsley was one of the most underrated artists in Britain, but her international career was second to none! They are both greatly missed by the opera going public.
Sorry....I'm confused...She was born in 1928,so if she turned 80, this should be in 2008 , not 1996 ,right? Anyway, great performance for someone whos 80 !
I guess Miss Tinsley was not 80 in this video. The Wikipedia says she was born in 1928 so if this concert took place in 1996 she was 68 which shows a prodigious vocal accomplishment ANYHOW !!!! Could anyone tell me what age was Miss. Tinsley here ? Many thanks !!!!
wonderful! absolutly wonderful! my goal is to be able to still sing a freakin' high C when i'm 80, let alone whatever note the marvellous soprano was singing! BRAVO!
She's 68 here, she was born in 1928. She sang a SMOKIN' Lady Macbeth in Philadelphia in the early '90s. This voice was huge and filled the Academy of Music with gorgeous, never-edgy, never-squally sound. As you turn 82, Miss Tinsley, your fans from America wish you all the best.
How disappointing: Lovely voices, but NO comedy whatsoever from the singers. Ehhhhh ... If you've heard several versions of this number, as I have, you hope for some wit and imagination in the performance. For that, try either the Karen Callan & Gail Wilder rendition (the BEST!!! I couldn't stop laughing) or the one by Felicity Lott and Anne Murray at The Proms -- now *those* will show you how it's done! And both are to be found on YouTube, so you have no excuse. ;)

This clip was in '96, when she was "only" 68--but . . . damn. So much for losing your voice when you get older. Rock it, babe!
