I've been wondering for a while why Americans don't ever talk about hydroelectricity. It hasn't been less efficient than coal since the 19th century, and it isn't nearly as volatile as the oil industry. Can someone clue me in?

My understanding is that hydo is the cheapest form of electricity generation. (cheaper than coal) I don't know what other standard of efficiency you could be referring to. The problem is that it's tapped out. There are no more rivers to build hydro power stations at.  That's why no one talks about it, there's nothing to be done.

How can we break our dependance? Pretty simple, we make sacrifices. Sacrifices 99% of Americans are not willing to make because it will interupt their sleep walking through life.

This video is kinda pointless, though I like the message the creator is trying to send. The technology is already there for us to be off of oil. Its just a matter of getting it out from under control of the same people who want to keep us on oil.

We WONT do anything to solve the problem until we overturn the current congressional left and replace it with common sense congressmen.

THIS congress has done everything in it's power to keep us dependent upon foreign oil.

yet they saddle our children with $10 (or more) per gallon of gas by the time THEY start driving.

Anyone here heard of global warming, It will devistate future generations. ANY Carbon based fuel that is burnt makes Carbon dioxide including ALL biomass. Nuclear fuel is a non-renewable resource & its waste stays toxic for thousands of years. Utilize is a synonym for use & USA has been using more than its share for 2 long. Using more is like fighting fire with fire. Do any of you people have kids? Buying yourself time by using more is compounding the problem and passing it on to your kids..SAD

I'll try not 2 use any big words & I know u weren't very good at math (I'm right arent I) but I'll try 2 explain something 2u (U may need someone 2 help u with this) ANWR has about 2.6 billion barrels of oil. USA uses more than 20 million barrels/day (PIGS) that means that @ your rate of use it would last l30 days. Normally I wouldnt even reply 2 someone of your sense but its kinda like running a stick along the neighbours fence as u walk past and stirring the dog, I know your gonna go off LOL

I know about peak oil. I have spent the past five years reading about peak oil, so you don't have to tell me. That doesn't mean we should stop drilling and exploration. There is untapped oil in the USA. Judging from your posts alone, it seems like you don't like the USA. I love the USA and I hope you love Australia as much as I love my country.
