I think that the Planned Parenthood staff SHOULD be allowed to use their discretion when it comes to reporting statutory rape. It isn't that I want molesters to be able to get away with exploiting children - it's just that I believe this policy will do more harm than good in the long run. For every child that is rescued from a disgusting relationship, there will be at least five others who just decide not to take the risk. What that means is you'll have more young girls not getting medical care.

Biologically that's when most teenagers begin to develop, they're going to be horny... but it's better for them to experiment with someone their own age who are closer in emotional maturity. I think it's only fair that we stop giving government funding to Planned Parenthood. Even if they weren't breaking the law, they should still lose public funding. Even if abortion is legal, there is no reason that taxpayers should have to pay for them. Even if the grants are for "other" purposes within Planned Parenthood, money is so fungible that it is, at the very least, de facto funding abortions. Give that money to fund clinics that provide those services without abortions.
i'm shocked that birth control pills need parent permission/notification, because it is sooo assessible in clinics when you're underage, even in a regular clinic, it is endorsed as a way to control acne, all the better to get the kid on it should they be stupid have a sex, at least there's a preventative measure.

I think that the Planned Parenthood staff SHOULD be allowed to use their discretion when it comes to reporting statutory rape. It isn't that I want molesters to be able to get away with exploiting children - it's just that I believe this policy will do more harm than good in the long run. For every child that is rescued from a disgusting relationship, there will be at least five others who just decide not to take the risk. What that means is you'll have more young girls not getting medical care.

I do not agree however, with commentators attempting to link these practices to President Obama. The very beginning of the video states that these calls occurred in February and March of 2002, while former President George W. Bush was in office.

It had nothing to do with physiology, but with psychology. Biologically that's when most teenagers begin to develop, they're going to be horny... but it's better for them to experiment with someone their own age who are closer in emotional maturity. A girl at that age has no life experience and maturity to understand and deal with a grown up. I don't think many people would agree that they are the same person emotionally and sexually at the age of 22 than when they were 13.

LOL! "Daily", an adult doesn't have to shout to be heard. Again, it's a phone interview. If you had any experience as a mandated repeorter you would know that the focus of the phone intake with a minor that might bolt at any time is to get them to feel comfortable enough to come in to the clinic.
THEN, you go over their options, try to get them to call their parents themselves. Letting them know you are a mandated reporter and must report is what you do last.

I received an email saying that you replied to me but as I am staunchly pro-life I would not murder a baby in an abortion. My comment was to makezmusic who said "You right to lifers make me sick". She asked how many had adopted unwanted children as though you only had a right to speak against abortion if you had adopted (which is a lie). This is a biased vid. They said, anything BUT an abortion is legally held as being confidential. They are abiding the law. Is she told the "girl" it would be reportable on the phone, a REAL teen would not turn up.
The bottom line is to get the girl in the clinic. Then, once the girl is there you do your best ot convince her to talk to her parents. And that is also when you let the girl know you are a mandated report her and must report.

The rape doesn't bother them or the rapist that is on the loose. They also lecture school kids about experimenting sexually with each other. Wouldn't want to pass up the opportunity to drum up more future business for themselves by assuring that more girls get pregnant. That way, they have more to kill later!

I think it's only fair that we stop giving government funding to Planned Parenthood. Even if they weren't breaking the law, they should still lose public funding. Even if abortion is legal, there is no reason that taxpayers should have to pay for them. Even if the grants are for "other" purposes within Planned Parenthood, money is so fungible that it is, at the very least, de facto funding abortions. Give that money to fund clinics that provide those services without abortions.

i'm shocked that birth control pills need parent permission/notification, because it is sooo assessible in clinics when you're underage, even in a regular clinic, it is endorsed as a way to control acne, all the better to get the kid on it should they be stupid have a sex, at least there's a preventative measure.
also for what it's worth, there is no age limit on condom or pregnancy test that you can buy in a grocery store.

"targeting" "repeat customers" what the hell, first it comes off as if you're marketing an emergency medical procedure, and a stressful tragic time. it's loaded language, granted this whole piece is not addressing the reality of desperate underage pregnant girls. i think that they should report on probable statutory rape and incest but maybe that would happen after seeing the patient in person. i dislike the law being a problem regarding privacy and a potential barrier to medical help.

The death we have seen cannot be compared to an abortion for a child who will end up wishing for death. I am an advocate for not bringing uncared for children into a world of pain. They need a firm establishment and love that you cannot provide them. Go to Africa or even your own neighbhorhoods and you cannot save them you can try and fail them just like us.
