My jaw drops in utter amazement at the heart, determination, and sheer toughness of Lorenzo Boyd, making it through that first round like a stud and giving the young, dangerous Tyson all he can handle from 3:54 to 4:00 of round two! Mike knew he was not in there with a rookie, he was in there with a man ready to fight!!!
@c4neckbrace Oh 4 God sake,ur 1 of those? The comment was about Tyson in MMA,not a "Go on lad.Show the good ppl of youtube hoe clever u are" for you.I`m not gonna spend more time with someone who is clearly out to split hairs and get something going. But let me close by saying boxing under marquess of queensbury rules, wich is "Tysons boxing" is concidered a sport.NOT a martial art for just that reason. It has rules."REAL" martial arts don`t have rules.Martial SPORTS have rules......I`m done.
@dikajenny If Tyson was a MMA fighter he might have been just a MEDIOCRE fighter with a killer punch.Tyson is/was a BOXER,a pugilist. This comparing boxing to MMA and "Tyson would have killed ppl in MMA" is total BS.His talent was in boxing, bobbing, weaving and everything that made Tyson TYSON.There is nothing to say he would have made a great martial artist.Don`t get me wrong,i`m a 100% Tyson fan but it`s 2 different sports. What would he do if caught in a rear naked choke?Punch his way out?
2.cont. if this isn't about race...tyson still was the greatest boxer during that time period. he lost to buster douglas, which is not the measure of a fighter. everyone must lose. to some people being undefeated is a measure of a fighter's greatness. question is...who's remembered?
it's not objective to say one person isn't relevant while someone else is. how the fuck does that work? everyone has relevance...plain and simple.
if mike tyson wasn't 'all that'. then hell...there were dozens of contenders who were complete shit by that standard. if this is about race...well hell we haven't had a damn great contender from a White American in how many years?
no you bastards want to claim someone from the Ukraine? so when have you folks been so damn tolerant? you know that's bullshit.
when you have a white american become a title holder in any weight division...then we can talk.
don't we all love people who say, "oh this or that person isn't shit" and then you find that same person here...at the source of his/her criticism.
interesting. many people actually don't give a shit about what others do...so we hardly ever or NEVER seek a video and click to watch what we think is lame or 'don't give a shit about'.
i think Jack Johnson would've whipped rocky marciano's ass. would i click a rocky marciano vid? fuck no. because i generally do not care.
@RealFearless only in boxing not kickboxing or something else or streetfight I mean do you know badr hari the best heavyweight kickboxer ever he would beat tyson in his prime in a street fight because badr can use his legs
@6handel , Badr Hari is a tough guy and all, but he is not the best heavyweight kickboxer ever. Nor could he beat prime Tyson in a street fight. Tyson would have been all over his ass.
The best ever? That's funny. How is is that Buster whooped that ass? Oh, let me guess...Mike didn't train hard against Buster. If he had, he'd have won. Right? BULLSHIT. Buster's performance that night would crushed Mike at his best. FACT.
@67goldtops Are you serious? Mike was knocked down in sparring for media a couple of days before the douglas fight. He also lost 20 pounds in 1 month and his own trainer had arguments with him because he wasn't training. + you can see mike wasn't the same anymore after spinks when he fired rooney. The only fact is that tyson would destroy douglas at his best easily if he had trained like he used too.
You think cutting 20 lbs in a month is a big deal? I'm a former collegiate wrestler. One more than one occasion, I cut 10 in a day. And you think 20 in a month is too much for a fighter?? Laughable. As far as Mike "destroying" Buster at his best...KEEP TALKING. Are you familiar with the term PONTIFICATION? Look it up. The FACT is that with the exception of one big punch, Mike got is ass beat that night. Buster did whatever he wanted with him. FACTS.
@67goldtops I made a mistake with that I can't remember how much he lost but he was overweight 2 weeks before the fight. But this is a fact HE was KNOCKED DOWN during sparring by some old guy. And you can't ignore how he looked crap in the douglas fight and the 2 fights he had before douglas.
Oh, so you made a mistake, lol. I see. So your point is WHAT? That you can say if Mike's head was in the fight, head have for sure beaten Buster?? Like I said before...PONTIFICATION-Look it up.
Oh, there's the out-of-gas "hater" label. Right, I'm a hater. Just because, unlike YOU, my knowledge of boxing doesn't blind me to the fact that Mike wasn't all that. And here's what I know for sure...I'll put a whoopin on yer old lady's ass. How's THAT sound, SALAMI? Oh what, you didn't know that me and the fellas use yer girl's tonsils for jizz-dart practice every night? Man, that slack-jawed pig just LIVES for the man-yogurt, doesn't she? Faggot.
FYI, Salami-swallower...you+are=YOU'RE, not YOUR. Gotta love that public school education. I like your bit about the BMW. Great stuff. Like driving a BMW is the pinnacle of success. I guess for a joker who makes no $, it is. Know what I did last week? I sold a client a $2million Variable Annuity. Made me almost 60K. How was YOUR week? lol. Getting good tip down @ the carwash? Hey what are YOUR thoughts on Variable Annuities? Maybe you can explain the advantages of tax-deferred growth.
You couldn't get under my skin if you tried. I just enjoy kicking trash, that's all. For example, what is REPLING? I'm unfamiliar with that term. LOL. Illiterate ass-clown.
@67goldtops The FACT is Tyson trained for like 2 weeks for that fight. Talk shit all you want....but dont even talk about boxing if your only acknowledging the facts that help your argument.
Oh, it's a fact that Mike trained for "like" two weeks. Why is it "like" two weeks? Is that 12 days? Is it 17 days? It's interesting that something is irrefutable as a fact is "like" anything. Yeah, it's a "FACT," yet it's "like" two weeks. Too funny. Actually, once again, the only FACT is that Mike got his ass beat. Soundly. So yeah, thanks for playing. Oh and, just so you know...YOU+ARE = YOU'RE. YOUR is the possessive form of the pronoun you. THAT is a fact. Joker.
LOL. "LIKE" ya know what I'm saying? I love the legions of Tyson fans with their silly, predictable line of reasoning. They're so adamant in their loyalty that they STILL fail to acknowledge the most glaring fact which is that Mike got KO'd. Then they bring up the "Mike in his prime" bullshit or the "Mike was outa shape" argument. Meanwhile his weight vs Buster was 220, just like each previous fight. Yet he lost because he "didn't train," not because Buster fought his ass off. LOL!
@Panthera0nca True we all deal with stresses but Mike Tyson lost his mentor and basically his father figure, so we can say he lost a father. His life was more publicized, and he went to jail for years which meant for years he didnt train which put him at a disadvantage.
@Megadeth72 Yea no boxer had to deal with anything outside the ring but Tyson. Ali got kicked out of boxing for 3 years and was divorced twice and was still the greatest.
I agree. He seemed to really be taking his time, or maybe he was trying to work on things, like the angles. But it was a little different Mike in this fight.

Mike boxed beautifully in this fight against Lorenzo Boyd. The way he utilized angles, switched soutpaw, and incorporated a nice body to head combination pattern was excellent.
You could tell in this early fight that Mike and Kevin Rooney were experimenting with some different straegies, and it all came out well. I wish Mike could of fought this way more often throughout his career.
