it doesn't matter how many times i watch one of these machines run it still amazes me how efficient they are. you would think they would skip or slip or have weakness or flaws but they seem to work perfectly
have these ignorant critics of modern forestry practice never heard of the term SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY????
People, the clue is in the description, do a little bit of homework before you come on here and criticise professional people who work in a tough industry with a now EXCELLENT environmental knowledge base and outlook. In the UK more trees are planted each year than are cut down it has been that way since WW1.
DONT CRITICISE WHAT YOU DONT UNDERSTAND ignorant so and sos...
so now the logging companies are only cutting down the trees that they planted in the first place..so no nature isnt losing out...and if the animals make homes in a crop specifically built for harvesting its their own problem....if rabbits or somethin nest in ya corn field it aint gonnna stop ya from harvesting the corn right..no difference here...public and government sanctioned forrests are no longer at logging risk so..its a waste of argument
Here's a question. Did you know that the 90% of crappy paper you blow your nose on comes from 500+ year old trees from Canada?
Most home builders and US cabinet companies get their wood from treefarms or replantings, but most paper and especially kleenex still come from what little is left of old forest.
actually me being in australia i find it very hard to believe id blow my nose on paper made from canadian trees...so you take ya own advice and get a clue...a wise man once said...if you search for something to be wrong..you will either find it..or it will manifest...
all these arguments are ridiculous and totally in vain...logging doesnt go on in public forests anymore..logging happens in private host planted forests now...watch some loggin vids n see for yaself..all logging companies have their own company maintained forestry areas that were planted 10+ years ago souly for the purpose of being harvested while this forst is being cut down they have another growing..so on and so forth
where do you work if I might ask I work on a 5000 acre produce farm we cut trees everyday to make room for more land my question to you is where do you work that you dont hurt the enviroment
its not abuse a forest will naturly take its course it will grow back its like cuttin your hair it will be back it may take a few years but until then you need sumthin to whipe your ass with now dont ya
What the fuck has the Amazon got to do with commercial forestry in Europe you DICK-HEAD. These machines only operate in spruce and pine plantations, which are grown especially to be cut when they are mature after about 35-40 years, then re-planted again. The illegal loggers in the amazon are felling 20-30tonne hardwood trees(Mahoggany etc), about 200-300 years old, with chain-saws, then don`t replant the land. A young tree absorbs more carbon from the atmosphere as it grows, than a mature tree.
are you sure that you know just a little bit about forestry? in the vid the forest doesn´t get killed in the vid they help the forest to grow...imagine you have to share your food with 5 other people you probably would starf...and the same happens to the trees..if there are 5 trees on squaremeter they will never get beautiful big trees they would stay small and wont get a highquality. and when the time is come to harvest them there are already new small trees under them( excuse my bad english)
Actually they make space for the strong trees to grow even stronger and better, and would you want to break all the mountains in the world to make unheated stone houses - or maybe live outdoors?
Think again before coming up with these stupid comments, please.
If you do a little research, you'll find that the forest industry is responsible for providing wood for all products and therefor it is in their best interest to replant and replenish forests...If they didn't then there would be no wood left! Use your brain numb nuts!
As you can easilly see thats not 1000 years old forest.. its grown forest, trees were planted and grown for harvesting... thats how forest industry works.( Except 3rd world countries ) ... Old and beautiful woods are protected and never harvested
@tripsodo rotobec got good head to, valmet has been baught by komat'su now, only what komat'su hass put on the valmet its a new head, but the machine is juste orange now, but with the new head omg it work so good
Thats not a first thinnings rack, its more like the width of a dual carriageway. Course it has to be because base machine is too big. So its not the best thinnings machine.

By thinning out the forest, allowing more light, and nutrients, to reach the remaining trees.
