  • He was so cool, sitting on the stage singing and playing very few dead or alive have the balls to pull that off, he was way way ahead of his time, a true musical visionary.

  • my most favourite song in the whole wide world - never thought it would be possible to have a favourite song as there is so many brilliant ones but there is just something about "Cosmic Dancer". LOVE Marc Bolan, he's kinda like the musical dr. seuss, it makes me so happy lol

  • I remember being so into Trex & Marc Bolan with the slider album. I would listen over and over. A lot of my friends were not into him like I was because (i think) the flashy atrire. They made it seem gay, so being a young man I was going along with the crowd and pretended not to like the whole Marc Bolan thing when around them. Looking back at it I would have to say he is still one of my favorite artists. The sound, the look, the original style. Great.

  • He's been gone 34 years today, R.I.P. Marc xx

  • I'd give anything to have been there!

  • Marc: "Genuine concern for my audience, I'd better ask them if they're okay-"

Fangirls: "HE ASKED ME A QUESTION HE WAS LOOKING RIGHT AT ME WHO ARE THESE OTHER BITCHES ANYWAY HE LOVES ME OMG"

    Marc: "*poker face*"

  • pero que vooooooooooooooooz!

  • Thank god i grew up to this epic music <3

  • Look at those little girls.

Marc Bolan was the a new kind of Elvis of the 70s.

  • i have to be completely honest here...I would go gay for Marc Bolan xD

  • @cliforo -Ha! Once, I had a pic of him on my cubical wall and I found a manager just staring at it one day -he finally said, "Who is this?" I said, "Beautiful, isn't he?" He was dumbfounded and a little embarrassed, but I assured him many are drawn the purely enigmatic, dynamic, individual who was Marc Bolen. I loaded some T-Rex on a flash drive for him; a fan was born. It takes a good eye to recognize a rare treasure. ;o)

  • @kjctubeful haha thats epic xD

  • @kjctubeful I have had the same experience @work with people , I have Marc on my screen saver and people always ask "who is that"? and I tell them and turn them on.... they think he is beautiful and amazing. I have 2 daughters aged 20 and 15 who totally love Marc and love his music and have for years... It's awesome they have been turning their friends onto Marc as well , it's great!!!!!!!

  • @cliforo you put a smile on my face to read that comment, lol, nice x

  • Is this song sad to anyone but me? Maybe because he left us so young and in such a tragic way.

  • Dang Marc Bolan is B.A

  • I'm crying becasue I wish I was alive to meet him. I love Marc so much! R.I.P.

  • He's so great, he knew he was too.

  • great clip, very sad he died much to young

  • he's an utter BABE! has anyone seen the video of where he licks the microphone? haha! I LOVE HIM! i wish i waas around in his day o:

  • isn't a "loon" a lunatic ie (not literally, but) a bit crazy...?

hey am no expert, but if "loon" is short for balloon then the 2 don't really rhyme....

anyway there are better versions than this tbh, eg from that 1971 studio album (or is it Electric Warrior? here it mostly comes from Birmingham library....)

  • It is sometimes hard to think that he came so far in his various deliveries. From sitting with his legs crossed all acoustic, to the electric warrior. So, no surprise that he might change up lyrics. Notice the random screams he omits. Fantastic.

  • thanks to this song I'll always keep a little Marc in my heart :')

  • some serious goosebumps I get everytime I listen to that beautiful song!!!!

I was dancing when I was twelve....what's it like to be alone..

what a performer, oh Marc ....

  • Great vid, i so agree wish i could of been around to witness the magic of the Marc Bolan era! I guess it b upto our generation 2 keep his magic alive! RIP Marc xxxxx

  • Tanx for the comment, and for helping to keep Marc's music alive and well for new generations! Stroll on, my friend! XXXX

  • @BolanBarlow1 I found him on FM radio, it was just his albums. No utube, nothing but the radio airwaves and i was into immediately. This way back when the stuff was just coming out.

  • This song was inspired by Jobriath Boone, a glam rock singer 73/74 who later died of aids in 1985

  • Huh...interesting. This song was included on "Electric Warrior", released in Sept. 1971. Marc must have known Mr. Boone prior to 73/74....

    Cool info! XXXX

  • @slagmilkcard Thats a new one on me! Been a Bolan baby since 71-aint ever heard that before...

  • haha, that's a great ending

  • .. version that Marc gives a good Spankin!

TWIMC..**Born to Boogie DVD- well worth buying!

  • what a lovely song y dont people rate it more

  • R.I.P. Marc - GREAT MUSIC !

  • Indeed, fantastic! RIP beautiful boy. XXXXX

  • and band Tyranosaurus Rex !

  • *sigh* Yes, you're right...so sad to think they're all gone now. Just in another place I think, rockin' like mad! XXXXX

  • i wish i could of seen him my dad got me into t rex and im thankful for that it has a big influence on my guitar playing.R.I.P MARK.

  • Your dad sounds awesome....once I heard T. Rex I could never go back! I love Marc's guitar, so raw and earthy, you just HAVE to get up and move! Rock on.....XXXXX

  • it always gets me when he says, 'whats it like to be alone?'

  • Marc liked to sit at home or in hotel rooms with a recorder and just jam and put ideas down to listen to later. The saddest one I ever heard was when he ended a hotel room session, simply saying: "This is Marc Bolan, and I'm lonely". I think that said it all. XXXXXX

  • do u have that recording , id love to hear it

  • P.S. The line is actually "what's it like to a loon, I liken it to balloon".

Yeah, one of those mysterious lyrics Marc was so fond of inserting....he always knew what he meant, but loved to make the listener have to think a little about what it meant to THEM. To be honest, I still haven't quite gotten this one yet, but I'm still working on it! LOL! XXXXX

  • The line is, "What's it like to be a loon? "

double meaning is "What's it like to be alone" then "I liken it to a balloon"

Meaning floating through the air like a LOON is like floating in the air as a BALLOON but his double meaning is that being alone is, to him, similar to if one were a balloon floating above & away from everything & everyone, separate from normal life & human interaction with others. One of his many MANY double meaning lyrics. He was clever, maybe even (at times)...profound.

  • Yup, that's the correct line! I agree with you though, there's a double-meaning there, as Marc was so fond of doing with many of his lyrics. So many of his songs seem to develop layers of meaning each time you listen - they do for me, anyway. Indeed, a poet who was often times profound. XXXXX

  • hi babe i think what he means is whats it like to be alone ?

  • A wonderful inspired style! I always love T rex for that!

  • beautiful, thanx for posting, even though I shed a few tears. Why is it that it doesn't feel real that he is gone?

  • For some reason, this song ALWAYS makes me cry as well. I love this song, and yet sometimes can't bear to hear it.

Yes, it never seems real to me that he's gone. I like to think he's dancing in the Ballrooms of Mars, and that we'll all meet him one day.

Tanx for your lovely comments! XXXXX

  • We will meet him that is for sure..We will meet all our loved ones as well.

  • how i wish i could have been there it must have been elecrtic

  • Hi, Ed! Tanx for commenting on my vid! How I wish I could have been there as well. Marc was simply the most magnetic, natural performer I have ever seen. It's a crime he has not been inducted to the R&R Hall of Fame. RIP beautiful boy, we miss you.
