Well, most of the launch footage at the beginning is NOT Apollo 12. There's actually a NIGHTTIME crowd scene form Apollo 17 and then daytime shots of Apollo 11, but almost none that is actually the Apollo 12 launch being discussed!

In the end, the issue of faking the moon landing seemed too difficult to logistically manage, the thousands of people (both working for NASA and other contractors) were involved with building spacecraft and designing control systems would have to have been in on the conspiracy for it to work.

I have a huge amount of material from those days, including high resolution photographs from, for example, LIFE and EPOCA magazines, which were publicized immediately after the lunar journeys. @votach If You take arial photographs on Earth to make maps, do You use cameras on which You can identify cars and people? Or, do You use cameras taking pictures of large areas? LRO's mission is to map the moon and also help NASA in selecting future landing places. Why would small details be important? A rock is a rock. A crater is a crater. If You wish to produce a map of Earth, would it be meaningful to photograph small rocks from the sky?

Too many people seem to think that NASA sent the LRO to Moon to produce some kind of a "proof" by photographing the landing sites. That's of course not the case. The landing site photographs are just a bonus when mapping, and there was really no reason to equip the LRO with extra cameras to photograph small objects. Those cameras are not cheap and every extra kilogram needs a lot of fuel, maybe even a bigger rocket.

I've just tried to explain why no close-up photos of the landing sites are at hand. Because NASA had no reason to send that kind of cameras to orbit Moon when they wanted to produce maps.

@NasaCriminals You see, moon is not so far from earth, and flying to the correct direction keeping to the shadow of earth and landing on the backside of the moon while timing the correct places it is very possible to avoid the rays from the sun, since there is no such thing as a radiation belt around earth because i have personally used the telescope in my university and there are absolutely no signs of atoms colliding and causing radiation wih protons and electrons. @kennjohnsen Actually, it is a matter of what photographers call "Dynamic range" of both the film cameras and video capture tubes. The cameras would have to be set to expose for extremely faint levels of light in order to capture starlight, which would result in overexposing the intended subject (astronauts and landscape). I have done astrophotography, and while it is slightly dimmer through an atmosphere, I still have to use a tripod for 10+ second exposures to get any details.

@votach I don't follow Your reasoning. I've followed the space program from the first manned journeys. I have a huge amount of material from those days, including high resolution photographs from, for example, LIFE and EPOCA magazines, which were publicized immediately after the lunar journeys. Never seen any "anomalies" or "filtered" photos.
Why is LRO a joke? It was sent there to produce maps of the moon, not for showing details of rocks or Apollo left overs to the ignorant public.

@votach If You take arial photographs on Earth to make maps, do You use cameras on which You can identify cars and people? Or, do You use cameras taking pictures of large areas? LRO's mission is to map the moon and also help NASA in selecting future landing places. Why would small details be important? A rock is a rock. A crater is a crater. If You wish to produce a map of Earth, would it be meaningful to photograph small rocks from the sky?

Too many people seem to think that NASA sent the LRO to Moon to produce some kind of a "proof" by photographing the landing sites. That's of course not the case. The landing site photographs are just a bonus when mapping, and there was really no reason to equip the LRO with extra cameras to photograph small objects. Those cameras are not cheap and every extra kilogram needs a lot of fuel, maybe even a bigger rocket.

The radiation given off from the explosions, expanding clouds of gas and magnetic fields, can last for millions, if not billions of years. I am currently a student at Cornell studying Astrophysics.

@kennjohnsen Actually, it is a matter of what photographers call "Dynamic range" of both the film cameras and video capture tubes. The cameras would have to be set to expose for extremely faint levels of light in order to capture starlight, which would result in overexposing the intended subject (astronauts and landscape). I have done astrophotography, and while it is slightly dimmer through an atmosphere, I still have to use a tripod for 10+ second exposures to get any details.
