  • I love this Soul Train Theme, brings me back to younger days waking up on Saturday Mornings..great post DC RIP

  • had to find this song...all ways remember hearing this version of the soul train songs...R.I.P. Mr Don Cornelius...we wish you wut you all wished us...Love, Peace and Sooooouuul!!!!

  • I've watched Soul Train since almost the beginning and this theme is one of my faves. When Don Cornelius died I think of that theme and many others. He was a pioneer whose show is more than a black American Bandstand,he broke the box.

  • RIP, Don Cornelius. We wish you love, peace, and, SOULLLL! RIP, Brother Don!

  • If this doesn't get you movin'. Nothing will. I love it.

  • Rest in Peace, Love, and Soul... DON CORNELIUS - 1936-2012

  • RIP DON CORNELIUS...

  • I cant believe there arent any live performances of O'Bryan. Where is he now? Unsung should get in touch with this brother!

  • @Nanadsyl Check on Wikipedia. He does music still...but is keeping low-key. (IMHO)

  • THIS SONG WAS MY FAVORITE BY O'BRYAN!!!! WAS SO HAAAAARD! This needs to be played in a club with all its bass!! I havent heard this in YEEEAAAAARS!! Thank you crad80!!!!!

  • i like it when the train moved to the beat of the music

  • been watching soul train since its first started banging bumpin.. the soul train coming is better than all..others...

  • anybody know how to fix a skipping record ? my needle/record are excellent condition though !

  • i can't decide btwn ST Gang theme 76, tsop, up on soul train by the whispers, this o'bryan version, or the one with howard hewett

  • SkeeterVT, gotta correct you on one thing....you forgot about the Whispers...Up on Soul Train....that was the one before O'Bryan...

  • oh no...this is the version right here...the original version before it was recut...this one is 100 times better...

  • @arleighasdad there are 3 versions of this but this the best

  • This was the third of "Soul Train's" three most memorable theme songs -- the other two being the Soul Train Gang's "Soul Train '75" theme from 1975-77 and, of course, MFSB's "TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia),"

  • @SkeeterVT ST 75 (aka "Get on That Soul Train") only went one season 75-76...for the 76-77 season we got ST 76 (aka "Get On Board")...which lasted for two seasons until 1978...I liked that one too plus the three you mentioned, and also Hot Potato from seasons 1 and 2 and "Up on Soul Train" by the Whispers.

  • =====HIPPEST TRIP IN AMERICA---

  • The second version is BETTER

  • I play this track every Saturday @ 12 pm. Reminding me of my childhood. We would do our Saturday chores fast, so we could watch who was gonna be on uninterrupted. The whole fam would watch for diffferent..reasons. My pops would watch the fine ladies dancing wit his boyz.....A mental pic that never gets old.

  • This rocks!

  • OW!-OW!-OWWWWWWWWWW!

  • Where is this man! I haven't seen him since 1983 down south

  • Yeah, this was for sure the Soul Train theme in the early 80's, and I still think the best one...sure the MFSB track "The Sound of Philadeplhia" was a 70's disco/soul classic, but this track really brings the FUNK, main- for sure O'Bryan's funkiest achievement on wax

  • Y'all don't understand! As far as I'm concerned, this was the SOUL TRAIN THEME song for me! I was born in the mid 70's. By the time I was old enough to watch ST to appreciate it, this was the theme, around '84.

  • oooh if i cud relive those days..sukilynn79@yahoo.com

  • oooh if i cud relive those days..

  • I can't believe it . I loved his style his music was just great and your right the music today is crap . This brought back a lot of memories

  • Funky synthesizer!

  • Sounds like Howard Hewitt, from Shalamar...i even thought it was him...

  • @cartunetto Howard Hewitt did the Soul Train theme in 1987 to 1993 with Gerorge Duke.

  • That's right this was one theme song of Soul Train.

  • "Soul Train, the hippest trip in America with guest stars Michael Jackson, Musical

Youth, and the Soul Train Dancers. And now here's your host Don Cornelius."

"Hello and welcome aboard the big train. We'll have a song from Duran Duran

right after these very important messages.

  • i think this was the best Sould Train theme

  • this one right here....OMG this one is it...I gotta skate to this

  • I agree. The dopest Soul Train Theme ever!!! Then George Duke's version of the Sound of Philadelphia.

  • Love those O'Bryan Intro themes. Pure smooth funk!

  • tjhis was a sweet beat, obryan was the man!!!

  • this makes me wanna get dow. heck, all the soul train songs make me wanna get down, where is this in my era? uh, oh thats right, no where to be found because my era has been fucked over with lady gaga and rap that sucks. so im stuck listening to the awesome oldies, when i grow up im a bring back funk, and other people need to as well so we can keep this heritage alive and not let it die out with todays music.

  • Why the hell do I remember the words to this one? lol

  • That bass line is f'n sic!

  • This is one of my favorite theme songs for Soul Train.

  • THIS IZ MY SHIIIIIT! LISTEN TO THAT BASSLINE. GREASY JERRY CURL FUNK

  • Didn't Karyn White start out singing with OBryan?

  • @719kai719 I don't think so. I know she used to work with Jeff Lorber back in the days.

  • Where can i get a download of this track? Itunes and Napster don't carry this.

  • We have a direct line to O'Bryan! Any questions you want answered with clarity and truth? Send here!

  • I like this theme and the Whispers them for ST also!

  • "Soul Train!!!! The hippest trip in America...with guest stars Whodini, Freddie Jackson, Rick James and the Soul Train Dancers. Here is your host Don Corneileus!!!"- Announcer

  • This is My Favorite Soul Train Theme

  • The BEST theme!!!

  • This is My Favorite Soul Train Theme! I modeled my look in high school after O'Bryan and got plenty of play! --He was a hybrid of Michael Jackson and Prince

  • yeah this was a jam that should have got more airplay.this came out in 1983 and was the theme 4 soul train from 1983 to 1986. it is also off the you and i album on capital records. don corneius wrote this track and mostly every song o' bryan has made. i'm a music fanatic in case ya'll don't see.

  • SUPERBE!!!! Thanks.

  • i like the remix. he added the guitar and bass.

  • Extremely Funky Bass line. How can one NOT dance off this?

  • This is crazy, I remember running downstairs to our 27 inch box Zenith tv on Sat morning soon as I heard this song come on and get my boogie on to ST! lol...ahhh memories!

  • Love this then the remix

  • This is the version of STAC that debuted midway thru the '82-'83 season. At the start of the '83-'84 season, this song was remixed.

  • @JMDogg my fav version by far!

  • i love my childhood 80s baby

  • the guitar and bass are not as pronounced in this mix as in the remix heard on "soul train"

  • How many of you remember that O'Bryan was a protege' of Don Cornelius he was given credit as executive producer on his first album, anyway I miss the those days now most of us are in our 40's and T.V. and music today is plain crap peace everyone.
