  • so in fact u just get 6 dollars, cause u have to give some coins for this to work

  • At :30, he should have taken the 10 dollars off the table since that was a different transaction. Should have dealt with the two 5's afterwards.

  • @shwooddotcom

i dont get it.can i make this with euros?

  • As dumb as this looks, it works. I'm a cashier and this has happened to me. Its hard to realize whats actually happening when someone is doing it to you very quickly, not to mention when there's a lot of people still waiting in line.

  • I live in Kentucky and this shit works all the time. Dumbass rednecks

  • one of our employees got conned out of $120 the other day. i've seen this happen at least 6 times, since 2005. i hate this scam

  • @Skeebled During my time working as a clerk there were several occasions where people tried this nonsense on me. Each time I would politely point them to the door and tell them to go try it someplace else.

  • Chances are low someone would give you money before counting what they got, i wouldnt for sure

  • No way does this crap actually work on people.

  • @NiteSaiya If you're mentally distracted and your mind's on other things, it could happen to you quite easily.

  • @NiteSaiya Sorry to say, yes it does.

  • @NiteSaiya depends on how much pressure is on the clerk that's serving

  • I got conned out $650.00 and i almost lost my job i hate thieves with a passion i wish they would all in the hottest part of hell

  • @truemusician1 how do you do this for $650? It sounds like it would take a lot of rounds. Not to mention missing $650 from a register seems quite obvious.

  • dont say the original twenty that kinda ruins it

  • I got short changed 25 dollars today. Freaking assholes

  • People like you are the reason Im loosing $90 in my next paycheck

  • Con artists get what they deserve in the end.

  • You know what? Give their asses change once then after that tell them to go to the local bank!

  • I've never been short changed. Never have, never will. I'm a good cashier.

  • i had to watch this like 10 times to friggen get it cos it was confusing me !!!! BUT I FINALLY UNDERSTAND :D

  • confusing right?! exactly why they get away with it!!! this guy did this to me today and got 20 bucks out of my register, that i gave him without even realizing!

  • is anybody that stupid?

  • why is everyone playing it out step by step.. it'a pretty simple, he pocketed $10 geez folks

  • For more about con artists see my video:

    William Rodriguez: the Wrong Man

  • epic

  • So the cashier actually gave away an extra 10 dollars for nothing.

  • I think the reason so many people are confused is because he doesn't receive all singles back. If he does than it is a whole lot easier to understand. He comes in with a 20, gets 20 single dollar bills, and request a 10 dollar bill for 10 singles. He double counts the money and ends up giving the cashier 9 dollars instead of 10. The cashier gives him the 10 but then realizes he only has 9 dollars. Then the con adds 11 dollars and request a 20 in exchange to cover up the scam.

  • This was pretty cool, but this is change raising, not shortchanging.

  • I'm don't under stand where the other 1's came from...... The casheir only gives him 5 but he gives her 5 more

  • The real question is: What if thy cashier counts the money BEFORE handing him the $10?

  • This happened to me when I was working the cash register at McDonalds. It was my first time ever dealing with a conman like this, and when he kept handing me money back I was just so confused. He kept trying to distract me as I was counting the money out. I was so pissed off when I realized he scammed me. People are such fucking assholes. Get a god damn job and don't take money from other people you low-life fucks.

  • @piggyfreak06 lol loozer :D

  • @cybersasho :'(

  • @TheAlexrice just give them another note. You will both be even and you can try somewhere else

  • wat do you do if the teller doesnt give you the first ten when he gave the singles?

  • To be effective, think bigger. Repeat the con twice. Instead of giving out nine 1's, give them a 5 and four 1's and ask for a 10. Put everything on the table, and act demanding/in a rush. Once you short change the teller the first time, admit fault and ask to start over, with the original 20. Then ask for four 5's. Admit fault again and say you need 10's. This time one 5 and three 1's. Get the 10, then add one 9, 10, 15, 20. And ask for two 10's. Confusing? It is.. and it works. 25 to 45. :)

  • @clutchFRAG Or you could make an honest living by GETTING A JOB.

  • Dang, that's smooth.

  • It wouldn't work if the cashier counted the money before giving you the 10 in exchange for the 1's.

  • It wouldn't work on me.

I mean seriously, i would never hand somebody change before counting it.

  • ive had people try this on me lol the best way not to get short changed is to finish each transaction seperately

  • lol this was done to me when i was like 16 and i wouldnt give him the 20$. the guy made a big scene and my boss gave him the 20. twenty dollars was short in the register, so i think my boss got scammed too :P (though he blamed me)

  • the heart of the trick is wen u give him 9 dollars and he gives u ten dollars. he has to give you the ten first in order for the trick to work.(i believe)

  • Good vid but I have a much better way that doesn't tale as many risks like having the cashier not give you the ten right away.

  • @aztell05 please do tell your better way - I'm curious

  • People do this all over one strip mall and make 100ish dollars. They then go to another strip mall, and another, and bam! 900 dollars a day for nothing. I thought I saw someone attempting said fuckery once, but it turns out they were slightly senile. Regardless, watch your wallet kids.

  • you need the people to give you the 10 before counting to make it work.... and hey... dont scam people.. its a bad thing

  • Ohhh damn good thing im not a cashier cuz i didnt even see at first hahaha

  • OHH NOW I GET IT!

  • I got it. It's easy to see when you know what to look for

  • no matter how many times I watch this I cant fucking grasp the concept this is bullshit Im getting pissed

  • @gootch420 so when he gives him $9 the othr guy alrdy gave him the ten. so when tht guy realizes hes one short the scammer gives him $11 more in exchange for a $20. We used those 9 $1 bills twice. Comprendo?

  • @gootch420 the man on the left pockets the $10 that was given to him, and uses the $5s and $1s that was given to him, with addition of 4 $1 bills of his own, to get the $20 he wanted change for back. By only giving him $9, it diverted the cashier's attention away from him pocketing the $10. Now instead of having $20, he has $30 due to the $10 that he pocketed.

  • @chunkymon1508 LOLOLOL owned

  • @chunkymon1508 Damn, sorry to hear that. Hopefully the asshole that did that will get hit by a truck or something.

  • @chunkymon1508 That's so shit. I got written up today because a guy got $80 out of me. fucking bums all of them. get a real fking job.

  • WARNING TO CASHIERS. COUNT. EVERYTHING. WHEN. IT. LEAVES. YOUR. HAND. I GOT FKED OVER TODAY!!!!!!!!!

  • @chunkymon1508 Retail, if you don't get held up or shot you get scammed.

  • @chunkymon1508 ,,,,you're an idiot!

  • I find it funny that this is illegal. Making money is illegal.

  • Doing this with a 50 is way more fun... Hehe

  • i work at a supermarket and someone tried it with me bout a month ago, it confused the shit out of me coz i didnt expect it. i have no idea if he got money off me or not but atleast now im aware!

  • wat r u suposed to do wen the cashier dusnt give you the change first? they wait for you to give them the money first

  • For those who are confused, he gets $30 when he should have only gotten $20. Pay attention to the $10 bill. Notice at the end how he pays back the $20 but NOT the $10.

  • now the only two failures in this are that cashiers usually wait for the ones before giving you the ten, which they're supposed to do, and that ruins it. The other failure comes if they realise you have the ten, which never is that much of an issue, just looks like a screw up. Like most cons it's in a grey area, and next to completely legal, since the cashier straight up gives you the money. A better one is with twenty ones, where you get a ten, then another ten with the nine ones. decent money.

  • this scam is hard to prove aswell in court

  • Hang on, that's Brian Brushwood!

  • lol, this one is classic.

  • 10 bucks my dick, this mufucca only gets 5, he changed the 20 and got 3 5's and 5 1's, asking for a 10 bill he puts nine on the table notice he comes randomly up with 5 more dollars gives him another one and adds 2 5's and gets his 20 back. So 5 dollar fail... Nice try though...

  • @LeaNiSDope

No, what happens is, he gives 20, gets 5+5+5+1+1+1+1+1 (20), he then gives back 9 1's. He then gives the shopkeeper 11 in addition to the 9 making the total 20, but he already has 10 in his pocket. So he makes 10, he just starts with 25...

  • quick 10$ lol

  • I had to watch it twice to get it.

  • this is why almost everywhere ive worked they tell us not to give out change...or i had to tell people they had to buy something to get changed, so that would discourage them to go along with their scam.

  • He really only gets 5 dollars extra....he needed five extra ones to pull this off

  • its not wrong, its the so called "victim's" fualt for not paying closer attention. if someone leaves their entire fortune in cash on a table unguarded and leaves it, and comes back to find it stolen its their problem...the same applies to this scam

  • 10$ win at 0:21 :D

  • its tricky because somepeople have there guard down trust why would someone rip you off

  • this is change raising....not shortchanging. two different things

  • I made over 100$ doing this

  • This ain't wrong u stupid fuck it's explained perfect I can't wait to try it

  • this is really wrong

  • this shit happened to be today i swear :/ and i got shortchanged a lot...... :( when ur actually into this .... u dont notice it.....when we saw it on the camera omggggg i felt horrible but these ppl r like pros they distract u so much :(((

  • He kept $10 before asking for $20 back he now has $30.

  • This tricked got me when i worked in Wendys damn bastards.Someone tried it a 2nd time n i remembered and i was like ok now give me the damn 10 dollars back.

  • Ah, yeah. Okay. Hm. You'd want to use that one on a dumb clerk though. Not that there's a premium on those, I'm just saying.

  • I don't think this would ever work in real life because I have NEVER seen a cashier hand someone cash change BEFORE getting the bills to be exchanged. Never have I seen that. They always count the money you give them before handing you back any money.

It would work IF they were stupid enough to hand you cash first, but that never happens.

  • Basically when he says give me back the $20 that's when the scam happens, the $10 on the table still belong to the cashier (after scammer paid 10x $1) but when scammer puts down another of his $10 ONTOP of that existing $10-(cashier's $10 still on the table + his $10 from his pocket) he confuses the cashier by claiming this sum of $20 as his own.

  • He asks change for his 20 dollar bill

He gets 20 dollar back with some 1 dollar bills

He says i already got enough 1 dollar bill Let me give u these 1 dollar bills back for 1 of 10 He gives it, The other person counts it and see that it's only 9 dollar he says he's sorry then he'll say we make it right then ill give u this other 1 dollar bill to make it 10 then i give u 10 more and i get my 20 back then we're even

the changer gets 20 but he loses 30

  • Conned!

  • Mwahahahahaha

  • The con man lies when he says he now has extra $1 bills that he needs to get rid of as he gives the cashier some $1 bills. The con man quickly hides the $10 bill he takes from the cashier. The cashier discovers that only nine $1 bills were paid. The con man adds a $1 bill and two $5 bills = $20. The con man has deceptively KEPT the $10 bill. The cashier has forgotten this fact. Final Score: Con artist has $10+$20=$30. Cashier has -$10.

  • Shortchanging can be stopped by counting exactly everything the con-artist gives you FIRST before you ever open the drawer. Then, they can't do the "mistake."

  • Shortchanging can be stopped in its tracks, all you have to do is say 'Fuck off im not a bank!!"

Your not obligated to change the person's note, so anytime anyone asks, i just say no.

  • He gets the 10 back first (on the 9 "mistake"), then adds 1 and 5 and 5 and asks for a 20 (on top of the 10 that he already received). So he gets back 30 in total but only gave up 20.

  • So, in other words, don't hand him the $10 until after you count the ones.

  • ohhh i get it. he gives 20 n gets his change. but then he says he has singles and ask for a ten. wen the guy puts it down he takes the ten but the guy counts only nine singles. so the guy gives back 2 5's + a 1 and ask for his original 20 back. so 20 + a 10 (the one he took doing the transaction) is 30. am i right or wrong?

  • @lardlicker08 u are right

  • @lardlicker08 so bascially u just repeated what they said in the video

  • but he came with $9 extra. so he came with 29 and left with 30. Where did he get the short change money from??? (the 9 dollars). The guy on the right only gave him 5 dollars in ones (beginning). So he must have brought it with him.

  • @javernchua ur a retard

  • hahah i fucking love it i got it now time to rip some bitches off ;D thanks

  • Comment removed

  • So what.. he had a 20.00 bill and 9 ones already?

  • 20 -> 5,5,5,1,1,1,1,1

    _

    9 x 1 > 10

    _

the left guy takes the 10 of the right one,

the right one is counting and checking the mistake

the left guy puts 1 + 10 on it and wants 20 back

so the left guy gets 20 back and has the 10 of the right guy ;-)

  • wat if he notices its 9 before he gives the 10?

  • he leaves with 39 dollars, and started with 29.

  • woah I got it now. Once you got it it seems so easy but also like It wouldnt work but if you do it fast it will work. did it already earned myself 2 tenners.

  • wait so if he went there with $29 and left with 30 he only made $1 right

  • nope he went there with 20

    1. gave 20 for 20 in change (ends up with 20 dollars).

    2. gave 9 dollars for 10 (ends up with 21 dollars).

    3. gave 11 dollars for 20 (ends up with 30 dollars).

    its as simple as that.

  • Comment removed

  • I does this and the shop keeper always finds out.. anyway to make it not so obvious??

  • isnt it 9 not 10 he adds 1

  • I have "watched" this done in my life hundreds of times and it was always successful. It really comes down to the fact that people are completely stupid and slow to observe things. In Vegas we just say a sucker is born every second

  • Only works if the cashier gives you the ten BEFORE he counts your $9, which is unlikely. Most people will count what you gave them before giving you the denominations you requested..... Good trick though - Id guess it has about 40% success rate if done properly..

  • my hero

  • o ok i got it! damn it...........

  • took a while... cuz i'm watching it over and over

  • what?!?!? i don get it? lol i feel so dumb.. he gave him 20 dollars back so how is he gaining money

  • pockets the ten and then but then makes an even transaction with the cashier, making a profit of ten.

  • that means if he pulls it off on you, you'd get scammed, xD

    0:07 gives him a 20, gets 3x5's and 5x1's

    0:15 takes out a "pack" of 9 1$ bills

    he gives him a 10$

remember he still has the ORIGINAL 20 (5x3 5x1)

he took out a prepared pack of 9 bills

    and got 10$

he adds 11$ and gets 20$ back the 9$ on the table belong to the guy on the right

he adds 11 of his dollars to the 9$ of the guy on the right and he made a profit of 10$ =]

  • The 9 he gives him for ten goes towards the total 20 he gets back. This wont work on most people so don't even try.

  • takes few mins to get it just notice how he takes the 10 before adding any money

  • he starts with a few extra ones in his pocket. when he is handed the $10 bill, he pockets it. that's the extra $10 that he walks away with. Then when he pretends not to want to get confused, he hands him back his own ones he got in the beginning to "call it even." he then gets the original $20, walking away with $30

  • you people who say "i saw it right away" only see it because its a shortchange video on youtube. when your working somewhwere you think nothing of it when it happens.

  • Don't get mad some people make a living out of this. Thats life now if times ever get tough for you you can make some extra money. you see the game is sold not told.

  • its stealing. you deal with the consequences if you cannot make the money, and dont try to tell me this shit is alright. you're seriously misguided if that's the case.

  • @maximrules

    Yep.

  • he took 10 dollars right

  • no, he actually stole the guys social security number and now has full access to his bank account

  • HAHAHA I actually get this one!

  • he didnt take ten he took 15 right???

  • The fact is that it only works when the shopkeeper gives a tenner for the 9-ers in exactly the same time. if a shopkeeper first counts the 9 and then wants to gives the tenner after he receives another one, it will not work, because then one transaction is already passed before the other one can start.

  • I see what you did there...lol Had to think about it for a minute.

  • the WHOLE scam is based on the fact that when you give back the 9 dollars in change, they give you a 10 at the same time. This is essential

  • omg this just happened to me a couple hours ago at target! fml the lady got $180. and i've only been working like 2 weeks! she even had the nerve to say "you have a blessed day hun" freakin #&%^$%#$%$#%

  • You're not alone. That happened to me while employed at a gas station.

    First and last.

  • happened to me today. some asshole did it and took $100. wouldda kicked the living shit out of him if i would have figured it out sooner.

  • @maximrules

LOL SO U ARE ONE OF THE STUPID ONES HAHAHAHAHA... 100???? MAN YOUR ARE STUPID

  • yeah my $14,000 scholarship im on in college right now is real fucking stupid. i looked at your profile, you can say anything you want, but at least i dont spend my life on youtube, you look like the biggest fuckin nerd i've ever seen. go get hit by a bus fuckface.

  • @siiduck

HOPE I CAN FIND U TO SCAM MORE MONEY OUT OFF U HAHAHAHA

  • ooh i had a guy try this on me once, I used to work a busy gas station and he came during the busiest time of the day when I had about 8 people behind him.

  • Strange, I saw this right away. I dislike math a lot but I am very good with it, though honestly I can see how it could mix up people. Specially if its a long day or you are trying to get as many people done at a time.

  • this is sooo confusing, i will never understand

  • just take your time it is confusing but is very effective. you can go around the mall during the busy season and make a lot of money once you learn it.

  • upabittoolate ( says I am the most Ignorant dumb ass on the face of this earth! I brush my teeth with shit and gargle with piss that is why i talk so much shit!!!! Do to the mating of a jackal and a wolverine i became who i am today...i am a stink roach with bronchitis;who masturbates to grow rat hairs on my face...

  • Well don't feel bad. upabitstupidass is about the stupidest poster on youtube.

  • ok!!!! EVERYONE KNOWS THAT THE CCASHIER WILL NEVER TAKE THE 9 ONES BEFORE HE/SHE COUNTS THEM. BUT IF YOU WANT TO BE ALL MAGIC YOU CAN DO THIS. I THOUGHT ALOT ABOUT THIS. SO YOU START COUNTING YOUR 9 ONES, AND DOUBLE COUNT ONE. USE SLIEGHT OF HAND. I'LL MAKE A VIDEO FOR THIS SOMETIME,... SO IF YOU DO THAT AND THEY ARE LIKE REAL DUMB, FROM MCDONALDS, THEN THE DOUBLE COUNT MAY WORK. IF NOT. THEN UR SCREWED. BUT THAT WAS THE ONLY THING I COULD COME UP WITH.

  • This scam actually fools people more easily than you think. It takes advantage of processing two transactions simultaneously, thereby overwhelming the victim with too much to think about at once. No sleight of hand required. Read about it; its success rate itself is a demonstration of how easily this scam can con people.

  • Thats right banyah, if you double count you expose your scam. This works fine as it is whoever wrote that apparently has no experience in scamming notice the dudes friendly tone and demeanor anything else brings distrust from the start and ruins the game. So yeah make a vid I want you to see how foolish you will look. The best thing to do is say hold up lets start over give me everything I gave you and I''l give you everything you gave me, other than that you get beat every time.

  • it's all good, but why would the guy give you the ten before he count's your 10 ?

  • exactly

  • its "scarface" you stupid fuck...and i would fuckin beat your ass if i ever heard you call me a spic.

  • O shyt!!!...HAHAHAHA.. I like I Like

  • That's the first thing they teach you in retail is this scam. If they still sucker you, you're too fucking stupid to be on the register.

  • not actaully, retailers don't teach cashiers too much about short changing because they don't want to turnout thiefs. But they will hirer pretty air heads to work the cash register and that why con men make a kiling.

  • daz bait..ull get booked.

  • ok, i need some help, couple years ago, there was a video like this one where a guy showed how to shortchange someone out of a twenty dollar bill, the lighting effect was just like this one, only the guy was like 18 years old, i think it was like a hustle it was that he put the twenty dollar bill into a dvd player and if the other dude opened it, he could keep it it went something like dat so if anyone knows wat im talking about please reply 2 me and let me no wat the vid was

  • Guy has $20, Cashier gives him 3 $5's and 5 $1's. They're even at this point. Guy then puts down 9 singles for $10. Guy pockets the $10 B4 cashier realizes he's short $1. Guy puts down a $1. They're even again.

But then he adds 2 $5's to the 10 singles and asks for his $20 back. The cashier gives it to him w/o realizing he already gave him a 10 for the singles. Guy now has $30.

  • ok, now that i look at this, how can you do this? like i saw the english version and it involved outting money in ur pocket and stuff so,, somebosy, help!

  • Some dude tried this on me and I caught him. He bought a snickers and paid with a 50$...weird already. he wants change but demands I count it in front of him. Mid way threw he says heres two twenties and a ten just give me a hundred. And im like WTF. For one thing his total was like 80cents so to make a even dollar id need 20 cents. ANd why would he get a free 50 bucks...lets just say he was an amateur. And looked to be a crack addict. He took his normal change and played the "oh, my bad" act.

  • hahaha

  • This happened to me once. I caught the guy in the act and everything was fine. I should of split his fucking head open for thinking I was dumb but, I guess thats why he has to steal for a living. Douche bag.

  • whos gonna do that

  • If you work in retail, you have to look out for this, as some people will try it on. The other way is to adopt a zero change attitude. As if they are no buying anything of you, you will not give change to them. Another way is just to count what they give to you, before you give out any change and only to do it once, so they can not confuse you.

  • Just count out the 9 dollars before you hand the 10th to the customer, easy.

  • i love doin this when there is a bunch of customers behind me,,the cashier gets nervose cuz all ppl waiting,,works like a charm''see Penn's video- WAY BETTER--this video has an extra step u dont need 2 do.

  • its hard to do, cause normally the guy first counts the money before he gives you a 10 note..

  • english version: thats good wages £10 per 5 minutes

  • yano wat....thats not bad....

9-5 you would of made £960

9-5 mon - fri and you would of made £4800....classsssssssssssss job hahaha

  • yeah i sqaw this on this vid on here its from a show called the real hustle and well i finnaly found the english version

  • Heh, I did something similar to a guy at the mall once. When I was walking out of his store, he figured it out and I took off, though. It was rather funny, and an easy way to make some money. lol.
