  • why do you pronounce capo, CAAHPO

  • @andrewl5201 LMAO

  • Whats with the capo hating? Tons of extremely skilled players used capos, they are a great tool to have on hand.

  • Super adorable.

  • I don't rly like this Marty is better :/

  • @robin01281966 I like em both!

  • ffs i dont have a capo

  • @EMSViolentV make one from a pencil/pen & hair tie/ rubber band.

  • @EMSViolentV they are 10$ go buy one.

  • why is this video not on his web site anymore I do not see this on STAGE 1 BC-117

  • Hey Justin, I would really wish that I could learn the guitar chords for one of Shirley Bassey's songs called 'I who have nothing'. Could u help me out on this one? U r one of the greatest!!!!!!

  • really awesome ... I dont have a cappo tho :/

  • @venkatchait007 They are dirt cheap man, $15-20 for a solid capo.

  • You guys trashing the capo, stop being nub, you clearly dont know as much as you think.

the capo is being used to bring the song into the correct KEY without having to BARRE the chords

so he can play in KEY with OPEN chords.

Thats how hes keeping it newbie friendly, and its 100% correct.

  • He calls it CAPPO instead of CAYP-O because he has an accent in case you haven't noticed. Calm down people.

  • this is like so helpful. I got a guitar for christmas and i have no idea how to play and this shows me exactly how to do it and it doesn't over explain it.

  • i like the way he says pocket =-)

  • Hey dude this is a cool lesson. I thought you might like to check out a new guitar website that really helps beginner guitarists. >> RexPearson. com << Would love for you to give some feedback and maybe even do a guest lesson for it?

    Let me know

    Rex

  • Thanks Bud! : ) You're a good teacher!

  • I like Justin, but he's wrong.....there's about a thousand songs with E-A-D....and you don't need a capo to play any of them...That being said, nice of him to offer free lessons...He's not like that thief at "Totally Guitars, com"

  • @belikewater001 aside from the common sense on any basic open chord, you do need a capo to play

in key if you dont want to barre them. stop being a newb.

and keep the website spam to yourself.

  • i want a kapo.. .:O

  • ITS A KAY-PO

  • ITS A KAY-PULL

  • lyrics r not importent for music . music is a life of die

  • i love how thay say cap-o like that...so cute;-)

  • dude you play the A totaly wrong.. Your first finger needs to be on the 4th string, your mddle finger on the 3th string and your third finger on the second string and all on the second fret.

  • @BrokenFingersProduct

    Capo ... noob.

  • Comment removed

  • @BrokenFingersProduct @BrokenFingersProduct It's not wrong at all. check his earlier video where he explains why he uses that fingering. I prefer to use my second third and fourth finger. Each way has its own pros and cons so choose the one that works best for what you're playing. As long as the correct notes are sounded, it's right. This guys has years of experience as a professional musician, teacher and writer. You make yourself look foolish trying to teach him how to play.

  • @BrokenFingersProduct hahaha you're the one called Broken Fingers! :P

  • check out google and search for guitar manual blog for beginner lessons . see the first results. thanks!!!!!

  • seriously, how the fuck do u call them things?? the cap-o, or the kay-po

  • @tilsrules LOL innit, i think one is american and one is english!! Have no idea which is which! Im english and i call it Kay-po but some of my other enlgish gutiar friends call it cap-o so its like err wtf!?? :Lx

  • is my pinky suppose to reach some of the notes like if i play a low e scale.

  • nice shirt fag

  • @magicmickey12

  • a keppo? haha, your so cute :D

  • "Capo" sounds so cute with an accent! I'm going to start saying it that way.

  • You're such a GREAT MAESTRO!! I've learned a lot just watching your vids and I've only been playing for 2 weeks. Muchas gracias, Justin. :)

  • where do you get a capo?

  • Great to pratice my first 3 chords. Thanks!

  • Wait so what does the capo exactly do....? Press Reply if you know ----->

  • Comment removed

  • i dont have one of those capo things... -_-

  • you can make a capo with a pen and 2 rubber bands

  • whats the name of the song?

  • I find it ironic that he is teaching beginner s like me songs about how well people can play guitar. hahaha....that said I like his baby steps method..

  • ugh my guitar is soo out of tune but i just don't have the ear to tune it.

  • Buy a tuner!! Go to a music store, take your guitar and try it out there. They are like 20 bucks for a Fender tuner. OR look online for a tuner, as long as your computer has a mike you can tune it.

  • google an online tuner, and match up the sounds with you guitar.

  • google an online guitar tuner!

  • what guitar is this

    I'm a noob pls reply

  • acoustic

  • its hard for me to id because the vid doesn't show the end of the headstock but its obviously a signature model b/c of the signature instead of dbl dots for fret12.

im not an "acoustic guitar guy"

  • a squire is a Great guitar.

you could take it on stage or use it for everyday playing.

keep it in shape and it will give you many many years of enjoyment.

  • is a squier by fender good i got one...

  • good for a beginner

  • alright and any real quick tips?? like how tight/loose your chords should be?

  • Its all relative to level of playing ability and what you are doing with ANY guitar.

A big name guitarist would NOT take it on stage, but a good guitarist could play it and do great things with it. As with all thing the tools you use change as you advance

  • got it for christmas and i kind of want to take classes in high school id rather learn from friends

  • Fonzie- i have had expensive guitars and lesser priced guitars, but all are good at some point in your progression. I miss some of the lesser.

Learn from ANYWHERE that you can. Friends help, but structured lessons play their part also. Good Luck, DO NOT get overwhelmed

  • hey ur the first person who has addressed me as fonzie ive been playing along with songs like rolling stones and slow paced acoustic sings

  • correct me if im wrong but i do believe a Kapo was an old old wooden ship used bac in the civil war era...

  • I've got a tip for you - don't buy a black capo because you can't find them when you want to play along with youtube videos.

  • same shit happened to me

  • Two words: Thanks man!

  • I thought a Kapo was a prison guard that was also a prisoner in the times of the Holocaust...?

  • it is. but for guitar, you spell it capo.

  • thats my guitar where do i get a cappo and if i cant afford one can i do use anything else for it:)

  • try using a pencil , a rubber band and a little imagination !

  • johnny b good thx!!

  • awsome man

  • tnx man ...u helped me in my music class!....

  • lol (:

  • awesome tutorial.....thanks! :) yea, you DO have a nice singing voice. nice accent. :D

  • 100/5!

  • what key?

  • damm good!!!

  • im gona try without the cappo

  • lol xD

  • Thanks ALOT man!I'm a beginer and it helps me alot!Thank you again and dont listen to bad coments...

  • It's clear, simple and really encouraging for beginners like me! Thanks a lot! Keep on teaching and I'll keep on watching and practising.

  • Picked up a Capo today and im going to give these a try in a bit , cheers Justin keep up the as always brilliant work ,

  • thanks for posting man i am just learning and it has helped me alot.

  • this is true in the case of Bar chords, he notes this on his website if you go look , but in the case of using a capo, it serves as a permamant bar on the fret of choise, making that the starting fret, also leaving you free to fret your bar chords furthur up so really, he isnt, your making a connection that is both true and false. but its good knowlodge to have =)

  • In a bar chord you do "capo" the strings with your finger. Also, "open" strings with capo do NOT sound EADGBE unless it's the 12th fret (or 13-14 if you use Drop Tuning)

Anyway, Zhron: Look at the video. Example: The guy puts his capo on the 7th fret, and says he will do an A chord. The guy fingers it like there was NO capo whatsoever (X03330). He is basically playing (X-7-10-10-10-7) That is NOT an A chord at all! That's an E chord!!! An E chord can be made with various combinations.

  • umm wild thing is a a d e song

    ezzy

  • i love you

  • WHAT IS A FRET???

  • It's the lines on the neck of the guitar.

  • This video is for beginers 123. If ur making fun of us for being beginers then y r u on here?

  • sucsess

  • he should play live concerts

  • em... you sure u got a guitar in your hands and not something like....

    a piano?

  • haha, a fret-less guitar... you know the kind...:P

  • lol

  • haha. maybe this guy shouldn't be playing guitar.......or whatever he's playing

  • violin?

  • love your accent!

  • omg man u r so kll

  • thank you :D

    I'm going to try :)

  • thanks

  • Tom Petty's Free falling is played with a D chord, then Dsus4, and Dsus2. My first song I ever played!

(Dsus4 is a D chord with 3rd fret 1st string and Dsus2 is D with an open note on the 1st string)

    Hope that helps!

  • really i wanna learn it lol

i didnt relize free falling has only 3 chords

  • that was myfirst song as well!!

  • You could've played No Rain by Blind Melon

  • ur amazing man thank u so much

  • lol itching to try

  • For the intro of the first song how many times do you play each chord? He said 4x right? Is it 4x?

  • Can you play these songs on the electric guitar as well?

  • i have no capo

poor me. :( just got a guitar for Christmas so i need some equipment. anyone have suggestions for picks? i have two fenders but i need more

  • Dunlop tortex picks are good, but you should only need one pick to start with really.

  • you only use one to play

  • if ur 2 lazy to buy a cappo like me lol jus get a lighter and a few rubber bands and it works just aswell :)

  • Do you seriously need those little clips on the guitar when you play it?

    NOOEEE!!!! =[

  • hey u can use a rubber band and a pencil

  • Hey Thanks for the tip! It worked! sweet!

  • yey! free capo! ^_^

  • why is it important that the capo is just behind the fret?? anyone know....?

  • The Capo acts like the nut on the guitar.

  • you rock man. keep up the good work

  • I don't have a capo :(

  • buy 1? don't think it's expensive

  • its like 10 euros

  • What is the correct way to say "capo"?

People where I live say "Kay-Po"

but I heard alot of people saying "cap-o"

  • same here

  • I think kay-po is how americans say it.

  • Kay-po, because the a is an open vowel, so you pronounce it with a long a. If it were a closed a for example, cap-po, then you would pronounce the word with a short a.

    [/random phonics lesson.]

  • hmm... like whats the words for the first song u played in this video

  • are you serious? he is the best tutor on youtube, you have no clue

  • I don't think many beginners have a capo...

    I don't have and I'm a beginner..

  • You can use a pencil with some rubber bands. Worked well for me :)

  • ya dont grow a capo as ya get better der available in shops im a beginner and i got 1!

  • uh,what is a capo???????????

  • its a clamp dat goes on 1 o the frets of ur guitar and makes the pitch higher!

  • hey is there any chance you could teach the song -remembering sunday- by All Time Low. I love the way you teach, and i would love to learn it

  • its called guitar pro, a program to learn songs easy with numbers..I have like 50.000 guitar pro songs

  • there are more programse like that like powertab editor..

  • I don't have that capo thing so can i play the notes in the same place?

  • nope. what the capo does is acts as a moveable nut and shortens the length of the strings which changes the key you're in.

For instance, if you pretend you have a capo on the 7th fret & you hold down an E chord all of the open strings will be in the wrong key of the chord your're playing & everything will sound yuck. The 3 notes that you're holding down will sound right, but all the other ones won't.

  • you have a great voice

  • Can you give me the names of a few guitar books that have they's cords and other easy ones in it pleas?

  • you should try "the big acoustic guitar chord songbook" series....I find them fantastic

  • i used guitar for dummies, a mate and total guitar magazine i think it works well

  • dont matter what colour the capos is

  • Thanks man,that helped me ;D
