@790WAKY Are you using the stylus it came with, I have the same cart but heard someone say it was better to use a 3 mil stylus to play 78s with in general. I believe my current one uses a 2.5 mil one. Does it make any difference?
@monty78pig Absolutely not :-) The regular N78S is 2.5 mil and does an ok job. However, like you say, a 3 mil stylus filled the groove better and will produce a better sound. That small bit of difference really makes a big difference, in my humble opinion. Just for the record (no pun intended), this stylus is a Pfanstiehl 4766-D3 and, in general, cost about the same or slightly less than the Shure N78S. I hope that helps.
