I like this piece a lot, but I think I enjoy the orchestral version more. It's just more sweeping.

The video is wonderful. The music, however is overly technical and literal. It needs more spontaneity and needs to catch some of the exotic sounding Spanish dance rythms. SPend a night at an easter festival in Palma, Spain and listen to the music, and you will get an idea of what Ravel had in mind. You will find the music more evocative and moving. But given the huge east asian and ex-soviet socialist dominance of the concert stage can anyone really play this stuff these days?
