I have two new lizard videos. One shows me feeding an alligator lizard that lives in the rocks on my 1/24th scale outdoor model railroad. She also has a bunch of eggs in her "cave". They are about the size of marbles.
The other video is a new one of me feeding the western fence lizards. You can see how they come running to me.
Hi! The lizards can come and go as they please. But they're pretty territorial, so they tend to hang out in certain places all the time anyway, plus they always like to be around where they can get a free meal.
That's awesome I had one teen I gess you can call it if you have one you should take it to a pet store and they would look at it I feed mine baby crickets.
Hi! Sorry I didn't answer this sooner, I must have missed it. Anyway, I get mealworms from Petco. You can probably get them from other pet stores too.
wow i should start doing the same too, plus the lizards are slightly people friendly too, i see them crawling all over my fence and the side of my house.
Hi! I started by just tossing the worms near the lizards, and gradually they got the idea that I was a possible food source. It also helped them get used to eating in my presence. Then I started holding the worms for them to come to me. Sometimes at this stage I would have to drop it when the lizard got close but wouldn't take it.
Really cool video. I used to leave out my extra mealworms for birds, but I never got them to take bugs from my hands. It's cool that you got wild lizards to trust you! :-)
Actually, we have six adults lizards in the back yard area, plus several juveniles.
However, at this time of year they start shifting their territories as more and more of the yard is shaded from the sun. So we'll see less of the little guys as days grow shorter and cooler. Then they'll be back again in the spring.
It doesn't take very long to train them. I started out by just tossing the mealworms near them. Soon they figured out I was a source of food, and they became more comfortable with my presence.
Then I started holding the worm and waiting for them to come take it. Sometimes I had to just let it drop from my fingers until they got braver.
