  • Philips (and other involved companies like Sony) aimed for the "Every Home should have one" market and missed by several lightyears. But it does have the excellent "Hanna-Barbera's Cartoon Carnival"!!

  • stewart cheifet is such a douche

  • a small box lol what is there definition of small

  • you are wrong Wendy Woods!!!!

  • More like losses of 10 of millions!

  • It MIGHT have had been a success. But luckily it wasn't lets be fair :) It was to expensive had bad controllers and wasn't that much special.

  • lol at 1:32

  • in the tens of millions of units. who would hav knew.

  • piece of hardware? more like piece of shit!

  • Lmfao @ psyjax

  • Man, that CD-i really took off! Remember the console wars where, after bankrupting Sega and Nintendo, CD-i and 3DO were head to head?

    yea, neither do I.

  • @killer7rulesjajaja Long Box! :P

  • Did EA do any games for the CD-i?

  • As far as I know, no.

  • I still got my CD-i and sometimes even play Myst or Lost Eden cos they were just great ;>

  • L10 of millions of units?! there are more views on walrusguy's poops than CD-Is sold! LMAO

    laughs until breathing stops

    dies

    shit...

  • I'm sure the person playing this would say "screw this this game is so bad they deserve to die"

  • I had one ... :-)

Was freakin - the digital video experience - best mpeg1 quality - but hey - it was really cool when it came out!

  • Tens of millions of units? WHAAA! Gimme a break!

  • It only cracked half a million.:P

  • Their dreams were obviously too big.

  • CD-I is so bad

  • Small box?! Haven't heard of the AVGN?! XD the only one working is awesomely big!

  • So its EA who killed the cd-i!!!!

    ;p

  • Jesus how many things did they predict back then would sell 10's of millions. Yet these products turn out to be total shit and sell nothing.

  • 470,000 units sold

  • Wow, that many? That is a lot for a piece of garbage.

  • The Apple Pippin did worse, with only 42,000 sold or probably less.

  • @Skullworld not quite tens of millions

  • @Skullworld 570,000

  • It's pretty sad that if that test game were released, it actually would have been the best game on the system...

  • Who kidnapped the CD-I team? Probably the angry Zelda fans LOL!

  • @saturnmason LMAO that's fucking funny LOL

  • i like that style of game

  • I think EA games did predict correct in that CD technology would take over the market but to back the CDi? I think this was because the CDI was the first CD based console and perhaps they just wanted to show off what they could do.

  • Did It Released

  • Yes, it was released.

  • It might havebeen good, but they screwed up....and I'm happy they did.

  • "This is what the CD-i is SUPPOSED to do."

    lol

  • Sale projections in the tens of millions? The only sold just over half a million. Bomb.

  • I wonder how much for one of those prototypes?

  • 1 mili-cent!

    lol!

  • I had a CD-I but I traded it for tickets

to a musical festival... such a shame.

  • well, they didn't sell millions, but EA did become one of the leading providers of games.

  • They were also a leading provider of games for the 3DO. We can see where that went.

  • EA Games hold a monopoly on the PC market

  • Late 1989? As soon as that, eh?

I used to love my CDi.. When I was young and foolish...

  • Late '89? The CDi didn't launch until 1991. Although it sounded good on paper noone realized how awful it turned out to be.

  • you know what they say,

    all toasters toast toast!

    yeah...those games were shit

  • @Tornado1994

The Compact Disc green book, which laid down the specifications for CD-i, was finalized in 1986.

  • CD-i format, not the system

  • LOL!!! Noone bought a CD-I and Electronic Arts didnt even make any games for it either.
