that doesnt sound like a diesel, how do u pass the mot with not cats ect, i bet it drinks fuel like that too you should get it rempped as stock its tuned to work with the exhaust
@nikurjak technically TD means transporter diesel. the stationwagon...and the gas model is a TE. but for people who are to lazy to write turbo, they just say TD, which is confusing as hell.

@Bob1kGTI well what i did was, i onky took the rear muffler out and replaced it with a straight piece of stainless steel pipe and had the tailpipe welded on, this is not an ''off the shelf'' exhaust, it is alot cheaper and sounds better, you could buy exhaust tips that you like and take them to any good garage or custom car garage and ask them to do this, probably cost you around £150.

@thelethalalboz im sure it can be done, but the sound wont be the same as you have a 4 cylinder engine, not sure how different the exhasut system would be, but probably not alot of difference.

@jonwhunt well, around town, ive worked out that i get 29 mpg (UK) and thats without being careful with the loud pedal! ;) not sure on a long run as i dont do much, my bros got a 2.5 td inline 5 c class and i think i remember him saying he got 35ish, but i used to have a 2.2 non td inline 4 c class and would regularly get 55 mpg.
i think the modern inline 4 td are pretty good on fuel now, but im biased as i love the sound of inline 6's!!

this mercedes e300 w210 3.0 turbo diesel has had the rear muffler removed and straight pipe and exhaust tips welded on, so the exhaust system only has the catalytic converter on it and no other mufflers, hopes this helps.
no, the Catalytic converter is still there but i have removed the rear muffler, there is only one muffler in the w210 turbo diesel exhaust system, and yes exhaust piping has been welded on with a stainless exhaust tip, hope this helps.
Now just change a mechanical pump from OM603 and slap a big ass holset over that tiny garrett potato and it sounds even better with 500whp and power smoke. :)
And the best thing is, You can buy a nice W210 300 Diesel E class for £900!

well it flew through the mot, didnt say anything about the sound levels and it didnt effect the emissions(proof is on paper :)
as for the question if its quicker.... i dont really know, i didnt do any before or after times etc.. should have really!
