Sharks use the element of surprise in their attacks.. Jumping into 5-9feet of water with them, in clear water after you've already fed them isn't testing anything, as that couldn't be further from their natural hunting environment.
@ignuz Bull sharks typically dont RELY on surprise, as they are faster, stronger, and smarter than their prey. Where are you getting this info? This guy has dedicated his life's studies to these species, you are just a guy who thinks he read something somewhere. I trust him way before I trust some random stranger. Also, sharks, like most animals, will simply not pass up a meal. Even most species of DOMESTICATED dogs will eat until their body won't let them. It's how species survive. Moron.
@Tagemandbagem is that the same guy? i was thinking of that attack the whole time, and the irony that it went for him and not the reporter standing next to him
Sharks have a underserved bad reputation, but bull sharks are bad news and I would advise anyone with common sense to STAY AWAY from them. They are uniquely aggressive, and while they don't have the power of a great white or tiger shark they are strong enough to tear you apart. Again, not monsters, but very tough and dangerous animals.
12 years, these sharks are used to being fed, if this ass was in any other place he would have been killed. If you notice the bull sharks are getting ready to eat his ass, they are investigating whether or not he is a threat. Once they figure he is not a threat he is food. Sharks are opportunistic predators, they will eat you. Don't let these documentaries fool you. You have two feet not two fins, humans go down the food chain rapidly in water.
@sxyboyteen Sharks are rapidly losing their reputation as mindless hunters as our scientific knowledge of them increases. Do not assume that they will eat for the sake of eating. Many species have been known to refuse bait, and often refuse food in captivity. You are correct in observing that these animals have been habituated by a feeding regime, however, there is no reason to assume they are aware harming him will stop this. Sharks would unlikely possess that kind of foresight.
This guy Eric lost his calf in another attack and almost his life. He was trying to prove his theory, and the bull sharks disproved it. Check it out on another Youtube video.

@Pooknottin Dude, get a life. you sound like a nagging wife who doesn't shut up. Check out my second response to you, it was assertive and not childish nor aggressive like you say. Check out your response to that comment. You're the one who sounded childish and aggressive, because you knew you had nothing to keep the argument up and decided to insult me. You are an hypocritical pathetic being who likes to have the last word but doesn't have anything to back it up. Give it a rest.
@nelsoncarmo26 I've posted reams of supporting arguements for my position. I've addressed everything you've posted yourself. I have reason to back up what I say. You have closed your mind to the possibility you might be wrong,
"I don't agree with you, and it doesn't matter how much you try to make me change my mind, you're not going to succeed, period! "
This is what made me call you childish. That's not assertion, that's obstinacy.
i love sharks. i have the utmost respect for them. i have for many times now encountered one or two of them whilst diving. i strongly believe they don't just go about attacking humans. but i sure as hell would not get in the water with a dozen bull sharks
Hm, I'm still not convenced and would never swim with sharks. To me they are still predators. i think humans like the thought that we are at top of the food chain and will do anything to keep it that way, even if it means lie about sharks and other living things. me... i'm more realistic and say we are not at top. there are other animals who are stronger than we are, and that includes sharks... amongst tigers, lions, hypos, crocodiles, just to name a few.
@nelsoncarmo26 Being stronger is far from the only factor defining an apex predator. We can and have fed upon every creature which is not toxic to us. We would continue to do so were it not for rules and laws of our own creation (created to protect other creatures). We are the most adaptable, robust megafauna known to us. We outcompete everything in and above our weight range. Like all apex predators, the only creatures we really have to fear are our own kind.
@Pooknottin I agree with you in some things, but when you say we are the most adaptable, that is not entirely true. We humans actually modify things to suit us, animals are the ones which adapt. So we are weaker physically than animals are. We are not predators, and don't think we were ever meant to be. We don't hunt with our own hands, teeth, or anything for that matter. We use tools, always did. Animals use their own body weapons to hunt. That's a predator. What save us is our brain...
@nelsoncarmo26 Our brain is as much a part of our physical makeup as any other part. Would you expect a lion's pride to be able to coordinate a hunt without their brains?
What makes you think we aren't predators? We hunt, kill and eat - that's a predator.
Tools? I suppose you're the sort of person to say that a thing which is made by human hands is not natural? In so doing you're elevating us to a position outside nature, which is a rather Victorian thing to do. Our tools are our claws etc...
@Pooknottin I don't agree with you, and it doesn't matter how much you try to make me change my mind, you're not going to succeed, period! we are not predators, and we are NOT at top of food chain. that's what i believe. We are not the strongest species in the planet, and if you go mess with a real predator bare handed, you will get eaten alive. Crocs have been known to eat people, so have sharks, lions, and other real predators, even piranhas surpass us in survival. so get over it and shut up.
@nelsoncarmo26 Alright, stick your fingers in your ears and sing 'la, la, la' because you don't like to be wrong. You are wrong by the way, but go on. Have fun being a pig-headed child. It's much easier than looking at the evidence slapping you in the face.
We kill more crocs than they kill humans - same goes for piranhas (which mind you are mostly harmless). We predate (we kill and eat other species) that is what we are.
Predator: a creature which captures and consumes other creatures.
@Pooknottin Wrong again you fucking ignorant twat. We humans don't possess any predatory features. You also said that we adapt... we don't. we modify things to adapt to us. You haven't answered to any of my strong points... in fact you got nothing to keep this argument up. You are just one of those who are very insecure and like the thought that we are on top of the food chain, which is what I initially stated. We are not. So you see that you are wrong, wrong, and wrong.
@nelsoncarmo26 althoug i agree with everything else you said, we are now at the top of the food chain. not that we always where, but humans managed to create and change life arround us in order to get there. Unfortunatly at the cost of magnificent creatures such as these...
@tobazevedo93 thank you, but let's see if I can make my point as clear and plain as possible so everyone can understand. I previously said that "what save us is our brain". If we humans were only as smart as animals and had to rely on our own body to hunt. We would not be at top, so what changes knowing we are a lot more intelligent? Nothing! we avoid predators to save us from being eaten. give a lion a chance to eat a person, it will! So we are not on top, we simply try to stay off the menu.
@nelsoncarmo26 Now I see that you're resorting to posting your abuse on my channel. If you want people to think that you're not a child, I would suggest not acting like one as you have been doing.
I entered into this contention without the intent to undermine you personally, but to express my views and perspective. I am willing to entertain the possibility that I am wrong, but you will have to convince me. One of us has something to teach the other. We should find out which of us it is.
@Pooknottin I don't know what you're after, but you are the one who started with the insults first and the patronizing attitude. I made my point, and that's all I wanted. If you are into that one thing of having the last word to win an argument, then whatever, have the last word. I saw in your channel that you are not the kind to have a discussion with someone on a respectful level... you like to insult people, so the conversation ends here or the next thing you'll see it's a report form.
Physical predatory features? We have forward facing eyes, movement sensative vision and instinctive pack tactics.
We modify things to adapt to us? Yes, that is how we ensure our supremacy. The question of which is based upon success, not raw physical power (which we lack only individually).
I have yet to see anything strong in your arguement and have answered all you have challenged mine with. You assume a separation between phycical attributes and ability - incorrect.
@nelsoncarmo26 I called you childish because you were being childish. I began having a go at you because you were being unreasonable and also, rather aggressive.
I suppose I should have recalled that piece of wisdom my father imparted to me many years ago,
@MrScotts665 lol no, sharks have very good eyesight. they can see in colour and detail and even in poor lighting. There eyes are quite similar to that of a human. As for the little fish that follow the sharks around like the remora for example, they follow the sharks so they can eat parasites that attach themselves to the sharks and so that they can also eat any of the sharks leftovers.
I'm not sure this Eric guy advanced the cause of science even one millimeter. He seems like an inveterate thrill seeker. We all know that sharks don't think of us as their main meal, but they are wild animals and if you spend a lot of time screwing around with them in the water, like Eric, you're probably going to get bitten eventually.
I once saw a similar video (and i'm not sure if it was with the same guy), but the guy was bitten and those 'peaceful' sharks bit of half of his leg... No matter what that guy says, he's playing with his life!
This guy "Eric" lost his calf as a bull shark he was studying attempted to drag him out to sea. He almost lost his life. Now he walks around with a severely deformed leg.
The video states that he only got bitten once the year before and in murky water but it was actually in clear knee deep water and the Bull Shark just grabbed him.
this is the same dude who got attacked by these same sharks that he claims know him well. You can check the video on Youtube. This so called expert is full of crap. And I don't feel sorry for him at all
@BKZik Actually, he DOES know him and they DO know him. The only reason he got bitten was because of swimming in murky water. The smell of food was around him, the sight was blurry, and the sound was similar to that of the food, so he got bitten!
maybe they knew him, but animal basic instinct is always the winner at the end. Animals can get used to human presence, but one day or another they will do what they are meant to do, and in this case, this guy was just over blinded by what he could do. I really underestimated this sharks. There are so many examples of people who think they can somehow predict or control nature until nature strikes back. Steve Irwin was one them.
@BKZik You're right, you shouldn't underestimate yourself when it comes to wild animals. That's why they're called wild. Steve Irwin underestimated himself when he got too close to the stingray, and paid the price with his life! Befriending a wild animal is difficult but not impossible. But at the end of the day, You could still be bitten!
wild animals are always hard to judge. You never know what to expect, expert or not you don't mess with wild animals unless your willing to pay for it in the end.
@Blackburn92x But not before the mighty scuba diving tiger came forth and attacked! I was forced to lay waste to him, armed only with my sharpened prince albert adornment.
i had one swim a few feet in front of me real close at Ormond Beach, FL. it was pretty scary. i know it was one as his size and shape was just like a bull shark and its the most common shark at the beach and the way he was swimming gave it away. plus the shape.
they don't eat great whites... for one thing both species rarely live in the same place in the world with whales preferring cold water and great whites prefering warm.. not sure where you got that information but i'm pretty sure it's untrue.
i saw something either on youtube or on a documentary on tv im not 100% but i think orchas would be able to take on a great white so i took it as truth.. lol
Well, it's nice to see that gentleman doesn't hold a grudge against a creature that has bitten him once before. I think all creatures can be unpredictable, it's just a case of taking the time to learn their instincts.
This makes me feel a bit better about my Bull shark encounter last week..I was out snorkeling for lobster about 300 yards out and one came up and circled around me a couple times, then disappeared. Scared the crap out of me!! I'm a little reluctant to go back out now.

is it true that sharks dont see? people told me that those tiny fish attached to them show them the way.
MrScotts665 1 year ago
@MrScotts665 are you serious?
SnkJakson 11 months ago
@MrScotts665 lol no, sharks have very good eyesight. they can see in colour and detail and even in poor lighting. There eyes are quite similar to that of a human. As for the little fish that follow the sharks around like the remora for example, they follow the sharks so they can eat parasites that attach themselves to the sharks and so that they can also eat any of the sharks leftovers.

freeze @ 1:07. bulls have very similar teeth to great whites, like big serrated triangular blades for cutting through large prey. scary

I love Bull sharks. They're so cool, but I love how one Bull shark accidently bites the other at 1:19. Bull shark fail. lol

I'm not sure this Eric guy advanced the cause of science even one millimeter. He seems like an inveterate thrill seeker. We all know that sharks don't think of us as their main meal, but they are wild animals and if you spend a lot of time screwing around with them in the water, like Eric, you're probably going to get bitten eventually.
libville 1 year ago
when sharks are curious, they can only use their teeth to investigate cos they have no fingers. and that's how most "attacks" occur :/

he is lucky the sharks didnt bite his gigantic balls!!
maidenrocks98 1 year ago
I once saw a similar video (and i'm not sure if it was with the same guy), but the guy was bitten and those 'peaceful' sharks bit of half of his leg... No matter what that guy says, he's playing with his life!

@LOLMAN22,
This guy "Eric" lost his calf as a bull shark he was studying attempted to drag him out to sea. He almost lost his life. Now he walks around with a severely deformed leg.
Thetruuth1 1 year ago
eddieburns74 1 year ago
The video states that he only got bitten once the year before and in murky water but it was actually in clear knee deep water and the Bull Shark just grabbed him.

this is the same dude who got attacked by these same sharks that he claims know him well. You can check the video on Youtube. This so called expert is full of crap. And I don't feel sorry for him at all
BKZik 1 year ago
@BKZik Actually, he DOES know him and they DO know him. The only reason he got bitten was because of swimming in murky water. The smell of food was around him, the sight was blurry, and the sound was similar to that of the food, so he got bitten!
Mohanned40 1 year ago
@Mohanned40
maybe they knew him, but animal basic instinct is always the winner at the end. Animals can get used to human presence, but one day or another they will do what they are meant to do, and in this case, this guy was just over blinded by what he could do. I really underestimated this sharks. There are so many examples of people who think they can somehow predict or control nature until nature strikes back. Steve Irwin was one them.
BKZik 1 year ago
@BKZik You're right, you shouldn't underestimate yourself when it comes to wild animals. That's why they're called wild. Steve Irwin underestimated himself when he got too close to the stingray, and paid the price with his life! Befriending a wild animal is difficult but not impossible. But at the end of the day, You could still be bitten!
Mohanned40 1 year ago
wild animals are always hard to judge. You never know what to expect, expert or not you don't mess with wild animals unless your willing to pay for it in the end.

Sharks feeding in less than 4 feet of water...
ubuibiok 1 year ago
i had one swim a few feet in front of me real close at Ormond Beach, FL. it was pretty scary. i know it was one as his size and shape was just like a bull shark and its the most common shark at the beach and the way he was swimming gave it away. plus the shape.

Like i've always said. Sharks are the best animals in the world. They deserve to be left alone by us. Stop killing them!
BondGraceBond 2 years ago 3
there not the best animals.... orca whales are better ... they eat great white sharks...
and they work tacticly together.. much more than sharks do
BringEllisTheHoriZon 2 years ago 2
they don't eat great whites... for one thing both species rarely live in the same place in the world with whales preferring cold water and great whites prefering warm.. not sure where you got that information but i'm pretty sure it's untrue.
captaincrag 2 years ago
i saw something either on youtube or on a documentary on tv im not 100% but i think orchas would be able to take on a great white so i took it as truth.. lol

@captaincrag Orcas do attack white sharks and there are videos on youtube about that.

Just always carry a knife with you in the water. if it comes to close for a bite just stab it.
jamesdavid3 2 years ago
or just carry a gun , thats even more effective

you do realise a conventional gun doesn't function either at all or effectively underwater?

@dizzydup 100% of shark attacks happen in the water. Stay out of the water! ;-P
TreyRoque 1 year ago
@dizzydup You know that this Eric Ritter has been bitten by a bullshark in the calf?
I dont wanna put sharks in the wrong daylight because these are very pretty and intresting animals. But they can be dangerous at all times.
Although i find it pretty cool to swim with reefsharks, must be a great experience!
DyonKe 1 year ago
@dizzydup if you smell tasty to them, then you're fucked. As you don't stand a ghost of a chance against sharks while underwater.
