  • If only companies really behaved like this.

  • This is just toooo funny. Would that this were an honest and ethical world. Shame this is a spoof.

  • they've just raped the BBC

    watch?v=lqN3amj6AcE&feature=share

  • Then Dow had to come up publicly and say they wouldn't do it. They forced them to call bad practices of themselves

  • ur missing the point-its not about the bottom line which is PROFIT! its about human wellness duhhhh--y dont u go live in bhopal for a week-i bet u wouldnt last a day

  • Only in an ethical world would this happen.

  • Brilliant I want to be a yes men. So cool more please 10^ 1000

  • the bit about pressing th usa to extrodite a criminal is hillarious

  • Why did the BBC apologise to DOW? Poor company, people sold its shares! That's almost like suffering a lethal chemical atrocity!

  • The yes man......are excellenttttttttttttttttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bestttttttttt!!!!

  • The whole documentary is amazing!

  • Superb!!!

At least there was a hugh financial impact. This also proves , how easy the MSM takes every message for granted. They do not research theire sourches. That's exactly, why we need the internet for the real news.

  • best trolls ever

  • I saw this in their documentary. Really great job.

  • Great

  • The world badly needs more people like the Yes Men!!

  • Great, just great!

This is the very reason that when Union Carbide creatively evicted the squatters on their property in Bhopal their stocks took a serious hit but recovered quickly.

Now that report if true about Dow losing 2 billion in share sell offs because of that spoof shows the true nature of the stock markets world wide and where their interests lie; not in humanity but in greed, deception, and power.

  • Great work. Expose Dow for the criminals that they are

  • People really need to watch the 'Yes Men' movie to understand what they are doing. No not the movie with Jim Carry that's Yes Man lol

  • This is BEAUTIFUL & just shows that these media ppl can be decieved!

  • I knew this guy was a fake the first time he opened his mouth. DOW wouldn't have a GAY guy as a spokesperson.

  • @enterprise59 I don't think eviromentalists are trying to take your cars, electrical appliances or especially your home. I agree that the prank was over the top, but jerking off (playing with selves) is not a priority for most enviromentalists. In fact, Im sure the more extreme ones are against "playing with selves", considering the tissues you go through wiping up jizz. This guy was just doing what needed to be done though, that fact that BBC let him on National News is absurd.

  • @enterprise59 Yes DOW is the one that needs justice. Forget about the thousand of people they killed and the hundreds of thousands that have long term severe medical conditions. This never should have happened to DOW, that poor multi-billion dollar corporation.

    /sarcasm

  • @enterprise59 You are clearly a moron.

  • @zynesthesia Are you serious? I'm going to assume that you are not serious.

  • trolls with a cause

  • epic!

  • i dont get it

  • Eat This Cheese RATS!

  • It's so subtle :D

  • The interviewer should've known this was bullcrap the second a spokesman for a major company said: "We take full responsibility." when they screwed up.

  • @Tellthatruth ; hahaha! interviewer must've had a bad morning.

  • imagine if they actually took responsibility, it sounds so good here even if it is fake but all they care about is money

  • Of course, apologize to Dow... not the rest of the world who is directly affected by the practices of these huge money-hungry corporations.

  • The genius of this is that everything he says is completely reasonable.

  • It says something about the (lack of) ethics in corporations these days that we are all so surprised by them apparently do the right thing. Unfortunately Dow has still managed to have the last laugh in this case.

  • I can't believe they managed to do this!

  • The Yes Men are brilliant.

  • LOL corporate america is even bigger a hoax! modern enslavement. what happened to christian teachings where greed was once a bad thing? Now things have reversed!

  • @maydayfire

Maybe they follow the old testament.

  • wow i can hear the stock holders even now

  • u could be a "Yes Men" in about 4 months away you just have to not be an idiot and not be a puss. they did the piratebay version thing because NOBODY KNEW WHO THEY WERE! AFTER THEY MADE THAT VERSION THEIR DONATIONS JUMPED FROM 7,000 TO 11,000. WITH THAT UR WELL DEFENDED. FED. AND U MIGHT JUST BE ABLE TO GET HELP. AND THEY ARENT GOING TO USE THAT MONEY FOR "HIRING" ANYONE THEY HIRE WILL BE A HYPED UP GUY WILLING TO WORK FOR 2 DOLLARS AN HOUR FOR THE CAUSE. BUT YES THEY NEED FOOD.

  • ok lets put it this way guys...do u even understand the stock market? unless u make a huge group of major stockholders for DOW then u arent controlling that...wanna know why? if u invest ur lifes savings and people selling stock immediately will make ur stock worthless...merry christmas u lost ur lifes work...in the form of the MAJOR MAJOR MAJOR stockholders...well they wont sell there stock anyway...thats why it went down 3 percent not 70...

  • Actually, in that video, I didn't see anything laughable.

I just had intrinsic feeling that's the way it should be.

  • personally i think we have bigger problems...? I mean these must be fixed first but...jesus christ we need stephen hawking or carl sagan to talk to these men. We need actual scientists to advise the president! Sometimes having the IQ of a Mensa member and always thinking abstractly...hurts...my...brain...i might email these "yes men". Its called finding site owners is as easy as whois domain tools people! Use it! USEEE IT LOLLL.

  • in america yes. The reason we cant seem to build up and change is because its scientifically proven if you inspire someone with the most inspiring words you can give...they will remember it for about a week. And with a semi-continent size country like the U.S that means you have to cross every news platform in order to be heard. Lets face it the average person now believes real news will cross the net, tv, word of mouth to find them

  • They mean to do right but...you realize a lot of old retiring people probably got pissed when they found out there investments failed? Ohh now i gotta go be a elderly cashier. Besides those arent the biggest problems u numbnuts. LOL. Iraq? Thats just because you are too stupid to stop voting for rich oil executives...BUSH OWNED THE OIL CONTRACTS. EACH TIME A TANK WENT OUT TO BATTLE WITH MEN INSIDE? HE GOT A BIG PROFIT WHEN THEY DIED.

  • @MrDarkseer24

The problem is the way of thinking, and also thinking that change will come without changing your own lifestyle, a politcal system, cultural etc.etc.

Like said in the movie: how on earth did we accept this reality as true? Dow gives away money, showing they are human. Stockholders punish them, by taking away their money. Stockholders should be pleased a big multicorpo like this one shows THE RIGHT THING TO DO. But everyone thinks in money, Not the quality of LIFE.

  • $150 suit & shirt

    $100 shoes & dress pants

Share price falling 4.2% in 23 minutes, losing $2 billion in market value

    What I have to say:

Ha take that Dow, a investment of $250 made you lose $2 billion

    Karma is a bitch

  • Ingenious. I could never do that with a straight face.

  • The fact that the BBC updated that little ticker thing live with this interview to make it even more official makes it that much funnier.

  • huhuhhu

  • Epic wins

  • @goosegiven

    @dbgameace

    >rabble rabble rabble we agree on some things but not others lets fight rabble rabble

    this is you.

this is what you sound like.

  • thanks to people like you these guys fucked their 2 billion in shares thanks a billion

Bichlbaum we at people in india really treat your work or prank whatever as daring

  • Great. Finally someone saying what Dow should have said and UC before. The real tragedy for us idiot human beings is, that the morals in our society can only exist as hoax or cabaret. Thanks to the Yes Men to show us our state of delusion.

  • I posted the link to this documentary on my profile

its a megavideo link, no virus just need to share for other ppl to see

    you're welcome!

  • So many people are missing the point. This guy said Dow chemical would take full responsibility and help everyone effected by their f*ck up. And guess what happened?! the company lost 2 billion dollars over the next 20 minutes. So this company appears to do what is morally right, and as a result LOSES 2 billion dollars. THE SYSTEM IS F*CKED UP

  • @dbgameace I really recommend going to fora(dot)tv and searching "the yes men" its a great video which lead me to this clip

  • @dbgameace how is that "the point"? YOU'RE missing "the point", my friend. it is a hoax interview to shed light on atrocities that happened two decades ago and which have never been remedied. It isn't about money, stocks, or "the system".

  • @goosegiven You sound like arrogant buffoon. Don't you think that if DOW wasn't worried entirely by their profits and shares they would have done something to help these people? The only reason the yes man did this was to bring the Bhopal disaster into the open, but why? Here's why: because DOW and other corporations only care about money and shares and don't give a f*ck about actual people. They didn't just do it so we could all say "oh, how sad" and then change the channel. dimwit.

  • @dbgameace

you would get the same result in any economic system, the only difference would be who loses the money.

  • @tarheels303 perhaps you're right, but maybe not. Either way, its still fucked up that people would rather save a buck than help hundreds of thousands of people and their families that are going to be suffering for the rest of their lives.

  • @dbgameace had they done what they should have in the first place they wouldnt have lost a dime to something like this...

  • @dbgameace u sure thats right? it sounds nice though

  • @titandown YES! I'm serious! check it out.

Go to democracynow org paste this in the search: "Yes Men Hoax on BBC Reminds World of Dow Chemical’s Refusal to Take Responsibility for Bhopal Disaster".

Of course, there are tons of other sources for this info if you just Google it.

  • @dbgameace No, after this interview, they came out and said this was a hoax and they were not going to do anything this Yes Man said they were going to do. That's the reason they lost 2 billion dollars.

  • @dinnerturkey lulz, didn't they teach you anything about economics in school? dbgameace is of course right

  • @gUgleSTINKT This has nothing to do with "economics". Stock market trading could not be further from a functional economic model if it were based on Pluto. Please don't be one of those brainwashed consumers who believes everything they see on Fox News.

  • @cmommsen1 well, i have never watched fox news because i live in germany... and of course this has to do with economics. it is the nature of capitalism that the financial sector grows into such a tumour if the goverments (notice the plural) dont restrict them properly... there was actually qutie an effective regulation on the financial market which divided investment and regular banks by law. this limited the amount of money investmentbanks could speculate with and of course protect the consumer

  • @cmommsen1 this law was passed in most countries after the great depression of 1929 and it did it's job pretty well (Glass-Steagall Act in the USA for example). unfortunately, some countries dropped those laws in order the enable banks to invest more (happened around 1999) and other countries had to drop those laws too so that their banks could stay competetive... thats how it happened: everybody forgot how terrible the great depression was and terminated their safeguard to make more money

  • @cmommsen1 i was rather surprised to hear from my economics teacher how easy it is to explain how this situation arose. thats what they teach you in german schools^^. now, if only the solution were that simple aswell...

  • @dinnerturkey

nah bro, have a read about the situation, by the time this was revealed as a hoax, DOW had already lost 2 billion dollars, of course people would sell stocks if they heard union carbide was going to be liquidated to the amount of 12 billion lol

  • @dbgameace

You're absolutely right. The best part of this that the 'real' Dow spokesperson has declined all the statements that the Yes Men made. So : No, we are not doing the right thing. Our interest is with our shareholders, not the welfare of mankind. They were more or less forced to say they do not have any feelings whatsoever to the shit they left behind in India. (actually Union Carbide, but has been taken over).

  • @TheAntiV -- what does this comment have to do with anything in this video? And would you care to elaborate on your comment, or are you just parroting someone else's uninformed opinion? Corporations being unable to clean up their massive problems is more of bullshit than "anti-globalism"

  • This brand of activism is so unconventional. The documentary Yes Men Fix the World was excellent.

  • @rahidelvi I agree I watched it the other day, it was great.

  • what greatness !

  • Such idiotic journalists! The name itself "Jude Finisterra" should yield some clues. St. Jude = patron saint of lost causes, "Finisterra" is Latin for "End-Earth" or "End of the Earth."

That's what happens when you have journalists who are automata with no culture, no sense of skeptical inquiry and little training in independent thought.

  • @Narwal88 Piss off! That's hardely common knowlegde. We can't all be experts on patron saints and Latin. I do agree, though, that it's embarrassing for the TV station that it let this Yes Man pass through whatever screening and background checks they do.

  • @Basehad

Nobody said a word about you, you ignorant fool. Learn to read. I was talking about BBC journalists, not brain-dead, microcephalic Neanderthals like you.

A journalist should smell a rat when someone introduces himself as "Jude Finisterra," you cretin! Any journalist worth his salt should do background checks, especially prior to putting this stuff on the air.

    Do you get it now??

  • @Narwal88 Alright, sweetheart, keep your wig on. No need to call me a microcephalic Neanderthal. Tell me, do you go around calling people that in real life too? Anyway, I see that you've failed to address my initial argument, opting instead to repeat your own opinion again. Also, eventhough I said I agree that it's embarrassing that this guy made it through the TV station's background checks, you've repeated that and even added a "Do you get it now?".

  • @Basehad

You're so dumb that you can't even decide whether you agree with my original comment or not.

You insult me, then you're surprised if I fire back. You're too stupid for me to waste any more time on you.

  • @Narwal88 Well, I agree that it's embarrassing that the TV station didn't do their background check properly on this guy, but I disagree that the name Jude Finisterra is a dead giveaway that he's a fraud. Were you expecting the interviewer to go: "Aha! You've combined the name of the patron saints of lost causes with the Latin words for ending and Earth respectively. You're a fraud!"?

But, alright, let's leave it at that. It doesn't matter, really. Have a good day.

  • @Basehad

This is BBC. You check and double check and triple check before airing something that is bound to revolutionize a company, something that will be viewed by millions of people all over the world. It's not too complicated, Basehad. It really isn't.

P.S. If you have a College education in any Western country, yes, "Jude Finisterra" should ring a lot of alarm bells.

  • If the world were only able to function like this ... too bad these kind of morals and ethics only exist in the realm of satire and parody. I glad this got passed the BBC's credential checking,

  • Gotta love how the Beeb apologizes to DOW at the end

  • why is this a hoax?

  • he doesn't actually represent DOW

  • dkapasi4,

Watch the movie "The Yes Men", its very good. They made a sequel recently, this is a clip from it i think. Id watch the 1st one before the sequel.

Basically they misrepresent(by being honest or satirical, usually honest) organizations in order to make a point. that point being that these organizations are making very poor decisions, and no one holds them accountable. That was paraphrased, just watch the movie(s).

    Good Day. 8^)

  • @dkapasi4

Sadly, he's not a real DOW representative. Watch the last 10 seconds of the video.

  • I watched this without being aware that it was a hoax video. It was so refreshing to see a large company behave this way and is how bad companies should be behaving, despite having limited liability because that's no damn excuse anyway. Big Pharma, I hope you're watching and learning.

  • awesome'ness .

  • I love their survival bubble. Just watch the movie

    Yes Men Fix the World!

  • See the movie. :)

Í like the speech about the "golden skeletons" - that one shows just how cynical the buisness community really is.

  • As long as the USA and the India government doesn't care, nothing will change.

  • Great absolutely Great people!!!!!

  • Thou Shalt give equal priority to tragedies that occur in non-english speaking countries as much as occurs in English speaking countries. We share a planet folks and have access to the net (its not just for playing video games and youtube videos). GO OUT AND LEARN ABOUT YOUR FELLOW HUMAN AND YOUR PLANET!!

  • my god this is beautiful. Finding out more about the Yes Men NOW and doing whatever I can to support them. Thank you!

  • @amiserable lol, me too, these guys are awesome!

  • Exemplary!!!

  • Can you imagine the frantic calls of the Dow execs? They must have sh*tting themselves trying to figure out who this guy was and who had authorized him.

  • I wouldn't have known what DOW did if yes men didn't do this. Thanks Yes Men.

  • Dow didn't do it dumb ass watch the program. Dow never owned or operated the plant. All they did was buy the company that did 16 years after it happened. So basicly this is the equvilent of being taken to court for murder because the last owner of your car killed someone in it.

  • @jsh78mang Oh dear. lol lemme clear myself. I wouldn't have known the situation if the yes man didn't do the documentary. I did watch the movie. superb indeedly.

...It is equivalent to Dow buying a company they didn't mind had a great reputation in killing their workers and getting away with it. Slap a new name on it and wah lah! whats new in the world of no law for big corporations... Tell me something good...

  • I agree big companies do get away with alot, Blame lobbyists. However they had no hand in what Union Carbine did to those people. The did not own it did not control it. There fore by law are not liable. Union Carbine screwed those people with shady business practices but got away with murder on the insurance. Like it or not 16 years and Union Carbines settlements Etc. dose not make Dowe responsible. They also did not buy that site it belongs to another company in India. continued...

  • You can not just switch blame after you sell something. If they got a problem it's with the Union Carbine people They are responsible for what happened there. Hence the reason the guy in charge at that time has arrest warrents in India and not the owner of Dow. Also a little blame needs to be placed on the people whom knew the plant was not running to code and still let it run. U.S. inspectors and the India authority both told them they were running poorly yet did nothing.

  • @jsh78mang Dow buying the company is a dis to those who died and lost someone in the tragedy.

    terrible situation.

  • They bought up an other wise dead company that practiced bad business. That is how it works. How is that dissing?please explain.

  • @jsh78mang Scandalous. If those responsible for the deaths of many didn't want to face the consequences of there actions why didn't the state step in and shut the business down till they turn themselves in? Money before the people is what they should print on the bills. Those back in that country were happy for a reason when the Yes Man did what they did.

  • OMG there is no reasoning with you. Logic escapes you. Look at both sides of the story not just the one YOU think is right.

  • @jsh78mang lol I feel what your saying but we the people always lose. It would be nice to win at least once know what I mean jelly bean? =)

  • We don't always lose. you always hear about walmart or other companies being sued or settling.Bernie "Scam man" Madoff is goingto die in jail. If the India Gov failed it's people maybe they should demand better or stricter regulations. Which in turn may have it's own fair share of collateral damage. Also the people that "lost" in this case were not from America. There for "We the People" dose not count for them. They have there own rules and regulations they follow.

  • great

  • LOL. finally with the help of the internet we may actually clean up the corruption and misery in the world. (well if we weren't all so fucking lazy and dependant)

  • My sentiments exactly!

  • SUPER ICH ZROBILI W KONIA! Ja bym tak niewytrzymał. Pewnie zaraz zacząłbym się smiać :) Brawo YES-MENI!!!

  • great idea to attract public attention...go yes men

  • I think the yes men are great but I'd probably of rather seen the real spokesman/woman for Dow try and squirm their way out of it. Also satirical comedy on this scale could well raise the hopes of many to only let them down.

But, never the less it's a brilliant approach.

  • the right wing puppets, find plots in all the wrong places,

Global warming is not equal to environmentalism!!

but would they even dare to find a rational way to understand all that is in between this two issues? Way to shallow to even see that.

  • How come they didn't sue him for that? Anyway, if the whole thing is true, its one of the most brilliant ideas ever:)

  • i cant help but feel sorry for the indians involved who via hearing of this third hand, not understanding it was a spoof or whatever may have gotten their hopes up for nothing

  • "completely buy into the global warming farce" !! maybe good idea to take a deep breath next time before hitting the key board...To reveal the ludacrisy of these heart less corporate giants that place money over human life is hardly buy in...its called informing the masses in a differing manner.

  • im thinking tightlypackedcoil may be a little unravelled.

  • well... funny... but this is what companys should do... this souldn't be funny prank... (btw. this has hapend really... I saw it at BBC)

  • i would give anything to see the reaction of the shareholders and DOW execs when this came out.

  • the share market fell by billions of dollars within minutes!! recovered the next day however, now we see why they will never ever take responsibility their share holders would sue their company to death and they would collapse. good job I say but not for the money men that would never do. go the yes men...

  • This is hilarious

  • the stocks falling show us that this company is pressured to not do the right thing.

  • Too funny!

DOW bigshots and stock holders must have been flipping out!

And, the BBC made a major boo boo with that interview!

    HAH!

3 cheers for The Yes Men!

  • @HOUNDDAWG

haha yeah dow stock dropped 3 percent after that interview.

  • @mediaskate648 "During the Vietnam War, Dow became the sole supplier of napalm to the United States military who used napalm in their efforts during the war."-wiki

MAD MAGAZINE did a parody of young college Republicans back then and one "sweatered and lettered" jock said to a DOW rep, "Love your napalm!" They were no doubt proud because like the song says, "'cause napalm sticks to kids!"

  • "we apologize to DOW" lol what the heck???

  • Wow this is insane. I can't believe 2B came out of this stock. That's terrible. But hilarious. Would have been a great time to buy the stock after the discount.

  • Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law.

  • After that the share value of Dow Chemical drops 2 Billion Dollar.

    So rotate the world.

  • genius !

  • Saw the movie tonight in waterville maine - Go Yes Men

  • I hope you drink contaminated water. I really do. I hope it's someone you work for who contaminants it too.

  • Canwest Global, Canada's largest media company, has launched a War on Satire to punish the evil-doers who spoofed Canwest's Vancouver Sun newspaper.

Click on freexero above to see video.

Brave Canwest is teetering on the verge of bankruptcy but will continue the fight to ensure that these fun-damentalist fanatics don't threaten its sacred freedom to monopolize media or mock its profound pro-Israel bias.

  • This is the only way the sheeple will be woken up... through the very same way they became hypnotized: THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

Can you imagine how many people are now aware of the Bohpal disaster because of these guys?

  • It's amazing how even a reputable news organization like BBC (as opposed to the overwhelmingly irresponsible lapdog U.S. media) falls for a HOT, HEADLINE-BUSTING, GOTTA-BE-FIRST story without verifying credentials of the interviewee.

The Yes Men know exactly how to exploit media weaknesses to do public good.

    GO YES MEN !!

  • The Yes Men have creatively exposed globalization - even though in reality its not going to change things - it exposes how pitiful and corrupt large companies like Dow Chemicals are and successfully makes them look like assholes

  • I think will and does change things, but not nearly enough.

  • i think that even though its not going to change things enough like you say .... the most important things is that it allows the public to be conscious of the topic and entertained as well

  • hero.

  • These guys are heroes , I will send them a donation . They have done more to expose corruption than all the American media stations combined .

  • o for awesome!

  • how did BBC react when they discovered it was the Yes Men?

PS, the Yes Men are heros of mine.

  • It sounds great, but it saddens me that this is the kinds of things companies like Dow SHOULD do, but arn't

  • That's capitalism. Which is exactly why capitalism is crap.

  • yea because communism and socialism has worked so well. tool.

  • Where did he say that communism and socialism are successful? What he said concerning capitalism is reasonably accurate.

  • You don't know what socialism is.

  • Was that socialism? Or was it COMMUNISM? Just a slight difference.... And plus, how would socialism kill anyone? OH NO! WE'RE ALL EMPLOYED, HAVE HOMES, AND ARE FULLY COVERED UNDER HEALTH INSURANCE! DAMN YOU MANIACS!

  • America is turning into a fascist state. Way worse than socialism. Do some research.

  • No shit, really? Try telling me something I don't know. Fascism, the merging of corporate with government, duh.

  • wow, do you even know anything about socialism? you my friend is whats wrong with this world

  • this is awesome

  • this is really one of the best hoaxes, ever. Congretalution also for the very serious face! When I saw it for the first time, in 2005, I ignored even the comment, saying that it was a hoax, and I was ready to believe, although It was a big surprise to me. fantastic. mathias will, wolkenunddreck

  • super nice idea and rebell-communication wit humanity using new media.

    just great
