The only really funny moment in the new SpongeBob is when Patrick tanned himself and said he felt like "those hip young-old folk from that soda commercial!" and it when to a live-action segment with that old guy. Now THAT is pretty funny! Family Guy-like on so many levels...

I used to love the older seasons

Firsts few seasons: Spongebob was like everyone else, yet got into many shananogans. Patrick was dumb but somewhat mindful and fun. Squidward kinda deserved the trouble he got, and the sheer comedy was based upon unexpected and appreciated humor.

New spongebob is more like a kids show, Patrick is braindead and agressive somewhat, squidward is bothered for no reason, and the original recipe is different altogether. Curse new spongebob!!

@choren64 Yeah! I thought I was the only one who noticed that. The first couple of seasons, Spongebob was as smart as everyone else, although he did some stupid things, he actually was adult-like. Patric was stupid but in a funny way, not a childish way. And I agree about the Squidward part!

Now in the new seasons, Spongebob literally has an IQ of 7

@choren64 Crap, I've been misspelling things a lot lately for some reason. But that's probably the answer to this whole thing. I mean, in the first season, it was a normal guy (Spongebob) who got into stupid but funny situations, with a stupid but funny friend (Patrick), and they also annoyed their neighbor a lot (Squidward). Now it's a stupid guy who gets into just annoyingly stupid situations, with a mentally ill friend, and a neighbor with anger management issues.

Fun fact: Despite what most of you think, Tom Kenny (The Voice of Spongebob) likes this episode! It's rather high on his top 20, outranked by Valentines Day and Help Wanted. And I quote:

"I love when hilarity and disturbing creepiness mingle. This one is like an episode of Night Gallery starring SpongeBob and Patrick, directed by Rob Zombie!"

Don't worry. Only three other after-season-4 episodes made it on to the Top 20. The Slide Whistle one, The Card, and Single Cell Anniversary.
