  • I just love how in the new film, they give Kirk a peek into what could be in his scene with older Spock, so that he basically sacrificed himself (coud have been badly hurt in that bridge fight), yet he would also note that the alternate Kirk and Spock were friends. His manner toward present day Spock changed. Later we see Spock's attitude changed by his conversation with his older self. By the film's end, we see a hint of the humour that was in the relationship of TOS.

  • Beautiful.

  • I love this video its so beautiful with the music. I support Kirk/Spock. You are a very talented person

  • Oh wow, this is amazing. =o

  • 1:07-1:11

"Cause you're the one I'm waiting for."

    @_@

    -hyperventilates in some corner-

  • To uploader and all fans

.. well I´m sorry, my words were too hard. I really like trek and Spock & Kirk too. And BSB have great songs too. I didn´t mean to harm you. Love is most important part of friendship. Even if I maybe wanna see them a bit different way like you I still love them.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that was gay xD

  • i so lvoe this video itso cool and sweet

  • Amazing, so sweet ! <3 I love this.

  • I absloutely love this video.

  • Kirk and Spock had a friendship that was played out realistically over the decades. In the new version , we're there for the start of that friendship. As in any long lasting relationship, it gets deeper to where the people involved have nothing to hide from each other. I see that, not sex, and the song still suits.

  • @adria138 Obviously you've never had a soul mate. I've got friends who I've shared everything with, except of course my body, and I feel the sentiments of this song pretty much sum up that kind of relationship well too. Had no idea Backstreet boys were gay... I thought only one of them was? Either way - you are entitled to your opinion

  • @sparringett

No I have soul mate, but you are right, Backstreet boys aren´t gays, just they´re making me feel like they´re. I want to see Kirk and Spock like strong mans and this is too sentiment to me. But to be honest, you did great job. I know what it cost to make video like this and you did it well.

So nothing personal ok? :) love

  • @adria138 Hey just one thing I gotta say, and that's that Gene Roddenberry (creator of Star Trek) created a term to describe Spock and Kirk's relationship with one another; t'hy'la. It apparently means friend, brother or lover. Note that this word was never applied to any other characters and therefore it seems a bit stupid to have just thrown in the 'lovers' bit if it didn't apply :P

  • @adria138 I guess I don't need to explain to you, then, the word that Gene Roddenberry invented to describe Kirk and Spock? I'm sure you know all about t'hy'la and the fact that it means friend/brother/lover and that Roddenberry (the creator of ST) used that word to describe K/S on more than one occasion. You know, what, nope, I'm not even going to bring it up.

  • This was brilliant! I never watched a Kirk/Spock vid (though I know that couple kind of started the slash-movement). I never was a big fan of the old team. TNG was my crew. anyway, I really love how you included scenes from the new movie in such an off-handed fashion that it's hardly noticeable if it weren't for the bright technicolor-colors of the original and the more realistic picture of the new film.

Great job! I'm going to save this!

  • @Heidiguard Thanks! When I was a little girl, I used to watch TNG eps with my trekkie dad. I saw the old motion pictures, but never saw the original series until pretty recently. I find the evolution of the Kirk character from series to films quite interesting.

  • Hey, where does that clip of kirk holding on to spocks shoulders while spock is staring down come from? I know its from a TOS episode, but I don't know which one. Luv this vid!

  • @shadowlev It's the one with the robot attacking people on the Enterprise... um - forgotten the name. That's not helpful I know... sorry :(

  • @shadowlev i think it it's "And the Children shall lead". i could be wrong, but i don't think so.

  • @shadowlev It's actually from "The Changeling" - I think the scene you're talking about takes place right after Kirk manages to break the "mind meld" between Spock and the probe/robot, Nomad.

  • @shadowlev The Changling?

  • I'm suggesting this video to the head person in my Spock/Kirk fangroup, cause this video is just epicly cute and the other members need to know of it.

  • I like video.

  • I love this!! It was amazing!! You did an amazing job at this!!! Please make more of these!! I love them!! *favs*

  • I supposed a LOVE like theirs will always transcend whatever universe they ended up in. Thank you for a wonderful tribute to this *IMMORTAL* pairing! :D

  • Isn't it funny that Spock's sexual desires during Pon Farr were appeased when he started wrestling with Kirk?

  • I get the feeling that if it came down to it, Kirk and Spock would abandon their families for each other.

  • In the lyrics "I would recognize you on a crowded street" why not use a clip from The Voyage Home, where they're all walking around the crowded streets of San Francisco?

  • Yeah, that wouldve worked just as well! I chose that one though coz it shows Spock being able to recognise Kirk despite everything that had happened, at a more meaningful point in the films.

  • Lovely. =)

  • I really love this video and kirk/spock is forever, no matter where or when they are. This is my favorite couple in the history of television and film. Star trek a s a whole also rocks.

dif-tor heh smuzma (live long and prosper)

  • Great vid - I particularly like that scene from City on the Edge of Forever...post-Edith Keeler. *sigh*

Very heartfelt. Thanks for sharing. :)

  • There have been a lot of TV-Series and movies in my life but Star Trek has always remained high above everything ever created in Motion Picture history. And these two men are one of the reasons. Love your vid!

  • Yeah Star Trek is just a classic ;)

  • what is episode is the part at 1:11 from?

  • The clip where Spock's circling/talking to Kirk? Season 1 - ep's called The Naked Time

  • sorry I meant 1:09-1:10

  • where Spock's fingers are shaking is Amok Time I believe

where Spock is laying on the biobed in the robe thing is from Operation- Annihilate!

I wasn't sure what part you meant exactly but I'm 95% sure that those are where those clips are from ^_^

  • Made. Of. Win.

'Nuff said. But I'm still gonna add that I love this couple and this video. *squee*

  • Thanks!

  • Wow...how do I even begin? Absolutely amazing. Beautifully done. This vid truly captures the bond between Kirk and Spock for both realities (both friendship and romantic). LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!

  • 1:29 - 1:31 ????

  • Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan.

  • and the slash hit the fan... and the slash went everywhere XD

    I LOVE this video! 5/5

  • Love the combination of the show and the movies. Also and excellant song choice.

  • Wonderful, simplely amazing!

  • I love this! and you are very right. in any parralel universe any time. its canon :D.

thing with the new frecklefaced youngsters screaming about K/S?. millions..litteraly millions i swear.

  • *hugs the video* God, I could write fic for this. About how the new boys feel this weird pull toward each other, despite not knowing and not really liking each other just yet.

  • @SasukeIPwned

Looking fwd to reading that fanfic! :D

  • @rose13red

Really? Cool. It's gonna happen sometime in May. No, June. This month I'm stuck by the Ship Wars on Livejournal (Team Spork, of course!) and then I have AP exams in May to pepare for and recover from.

  • @SasukeIPwned I totally hear that, buried under exams myself right now, be sure to post on my page when you're ready to launch your fanfic :D

  • Gorgeous video, just gorgeous! Love how you tied in clips from the 2009 movie.

I didn't see the connection as much when I watched the new movie (though the circumstance were very different and the relationship had not yet developed... and I was probably distracted by the sheer awesomeness of it as a whole) but the way you used the clips made me see potential even there... which I LOVE! You did a *fantastic* job!!

  • My favourite Kirk/Spock video!

  • Mmm, God that's beautiful. Well done!

  • Yes, slash is addictive, once you see it you never go back. And TOS Kirk and Spock are the OTP.

BTW TOS Kirk and Spock are waaaay hotter than the new guys, sorry, but that's the truth.

Love this vid, really well done. Great song, great editing.

  • I agree completely.

  • I don't agree with the slash but love this video. The chemistry between Shatner and Nimoy was real, as they ended up good friends after the show ended. Each would appear on the other's next TV shows. But I do love the many looks that come up between Pine and Quinto. I just wonder how the next movie will allow the friendship between Kirk and Spock to grow. I hope they don't skip over it.

  • What's not to agree with. Slash is canon, research it and find out the truth.

And chemistry is vital. Shatner/Nimoy had it, Quinto/Pine have it too.

If they miss this relationship in the next movie it will be a great loss to the true story of Star Trek

  • Loved it. Five stars!

  • This is amazing. Absolutly beautiful, the song is perfect, and the editing is stunning. The belnding of the new and old scenes is flawless.

  • Aw, thank you! I'm finding I really enjoy receiving comments like this ;)

  • this was just gorgeous, absoltutely divine and the combination of all of it was just brilliant =)

  • just love this video and this song I have the video on my Nintendo Ds and it is brilliant good clips in the video

  • Really well done! I loved it. The song fits them quite well - I like how you covered the sort of epic span of their relationship.

  • Epic... yes that's a word to use when talking about Kirk/Spock

  • i so lvoe thsi video it so cool and sweet

  • what episode is it at 59? Its so cute!

  • Its the end from Enemy Within.

  • Wow! You did such an AWESOME job with mixing both series and movie to the lyrics! The transitions were so smooth and really matched the lyrics well! Also, this song is soo GORGEOUS! :)

  • I almost cried! Then laughed hysterically when I saw who sings this song. WELL DONE! seamless '09 integration too!

  • ickle cat! don't cry!

  • Requiem for Methuselah. Spock takes it upon himself to help Kirk forget an android he fell in love with. Perhaps too, he was trying to understand what McCoy had peviously said, that he would never know certain feelings because love was not in his dictionary. I didn't understand why Spock would do that unasked. Seems intrusive. Besides, do it for Edith Keeler. Kirk loved her more.

  • yes, but he didn't want to forget her. he loved her, and though memories of her caused him pain, forgetting what he had done would be even worse. in this case, he didn't love rayna quite as much, and memories of her also caused him pain, and he just wanted to forget the whole thin. so spock helped him. because spock loved him.

  • Remember in STV Kirk says he needs his pain. It is normal and human for him to feel the loss of Edith, but Rayna was an android, not healthy to be left broken heart over wht was essentially a machine. Spock loved Kirk enough to want to take THAT pain away...logical and emotional, beautiful.

  • That's the kindest thing Spock could've done for him. Trust me on that one.

  • there is a fanfiction story out there that says that Kirk was so shaken from the dead of the adroid Rayna because she reminds him so much of Spock.(Cold, logic etc.) And Kirk was very down when he lost Spock. I agree with this.

  • At 3:32 is Spock trying to mind meld with Jim and if so did he wake up and stop Spock? What episode is it?

  • By the way, what episode and season was 1:35 and 0:55 and 2:3?

  • 1:35 was Star Trek the Motion Picture

:55 And the children shall lead

2;30 isn't clear enough to know, for me anyway.

  • 2:30 was from Amok Time as well :)

  • I think 2:30 is from Amok Time when Jim is trying to get out of Spock what's going on with him

  • I was a little frustrated with the song (I can't stand the fangirls/boys who turn them into a slash couple), but you made it work. I admire your skill with editing. Thumbs up.

  • I read that T'Pol (in Enterprise) had broken the record for a Vulcan living amongst humans on a ship. So later on Spock also shows that it might not be the hell Vulcans imagine. Still, it's rare (Taurik in Next Gen and Vorik in Voyager). Vulcans gained their own starship in the Intrepid. WIsh we culd have seen a glimpse of that crew.

  • You know - I actually understand your frustration about the slash. Kirk/Spock aside I hate the Frodo/Sam slash scene! I read the books as a child and their friendship was one of the most enduring things in my childhood - I wanted a friend like Sam dammit!!!

Anyway K/S slash caught me by the throat with the new film - and what can I say, its addictive!

  • OMG! This was perfect and so beautiful :) 5*. I added this my favorite.

  • I think the thing that attracts me to this pairing is the loyalty, not the slashy aspects. I respect loyalty. Spock risked his career for Captain Pike, but he in fact knew the Talosians would help clear him. Spock risked his life for Kirk, many times, and the reverse by Jim for Spock. That relationship is more complex in the fact that it is a friendship. Alien to each other, but fully accepting. I wonder how Spock felt when he heard that Jim had been killed. He seemed glad to see him in the film

  • glad? he seemed shocked out of his mind!

  • I saw the new Star Trek 5 days ago... and can't wait for the next one!

  • Ohh! this is wonderful! i'd forgotten how deliciously slashy the original series is. thanks for the reminder!

*runs off to look at old tapes*

  • becauso of this vid, i bought the first season of TOS XD

  • oh wow, so glad I made you do that! *grins*

hmmm, first season? best episodes for k/s are 'the naked time', 'this side of paradise' and 'operation annihilate!' imo. Plus you get Khan in 'Space seed'!

  • Thank you so much ^^

  • City on the edge of forever, a classic IMO, fun with Kirk and Spock on old Earth, their relationship and even Edith Keeler says that Spock belongs at Kirk's side etc.......great episode!

  • Oh, yeah good one! You have fine taste Iluthra

  • absolutely loved this! great choice of song and great idea!

  • Wow, awesome video! I really want to watch TOS now, haha.

  • Go watch it girl!

  • Wow, nice vid :)

  • Great vid, I loved it! How you combined the classics with the new moments, very good.

And I'd say the answer's YES: there is a new wave of slash. I saw the film not being a fan of ST or K/S, and now it will be really hard for me to ignore the LOVE *is planning to research the classic series and read hundreds of fanfics*

  • Oh wow, good luck there is so much K/S slashy fanfic out there to feast your eyes on! I would recommend my own stories, which you can read from a link on my profile, but that would just be blowing my own trumpet...

  • Ronnachu, I totally agree with this XD

by the way, the vid is really great ^^

  • Love them, love this video.

  • This combined two of my most treasured loves. The Backstreet Boys and K/S. This was brilliant and I really enjoyed it.

    Great job!

  • Just wanted to share my thoughts for a moment. I actually remember making this vid before the film had come out - putting Zach's face over Nimoy's and wondering whether his Spock would live up to the original. The whole 'will you be unmistakable?' message throughout the vid was what I was asking myself.

Now having seen the film I'm glad to say that those two actors really were good, unmistakable really, lol

  • I found Pine and Quinto to have a nice chemistry as Shatner and Nimoy had during their years playing the parts. Apparently, Pine and Quinto knew each other cuz they used the same gym. Friends, I don't know, but now, with all he publicity tours, I can't imagine they're not. I hope the next film has lots of those two. Theirs were the best scenes.

  • wow. i love this video it makes me smile every time i watch it. great video!

  • ... Wow... been to hell and back, have they. O_O

  • ... where no man has gone before, lol!

  • Yes... yes... *solemn nod*

  • I've commented before but I still watch this everday!

  • I'm flattered! I hope you enjoy this next K/S I'm working on...

  • This video literally put a smile on my face within the first few seconds. Great job!

  • Thank you - that's high praise to me coming from you!

  • If slash is the way many people view the relationship between Kirk and Spock (I'm not one of them, I prefer the deep friendship idea more), then wouldn't that make the Enterprise Kirk's mistress on the side? He always favoured her over any flesh and blood female in the long term.

  • True! Though Kirk always had enough loving in him for everyone... and anyone!

  • Yeah, like the way he sent her crashing to the ground in a firey ball of molten metal in The Search for Spock...ROTFLMAO

  • I love this. It's seriously amazing, how you integrated all those clips so perfectly. I especially liked the part at 1:28 where it's like, "People say your watching life through a glass" or whatever, and you have Spock's death scene in there. Through a glass. I love how you had little things like that in there. Kudos to you!

-originally posted by iluvanimorphs, I deleted it by mistake!

  • Thanks! I like to pepper interesting points of comparison to the lyrics throughout my vids, glad you enjoyed!

  • okay.. i love this video.. like.. no seriously i'm in love with this video. -kisses screen- LAWL

  • This is a fabulous video! You put the clips together perfectly, and really lets you feel the love in between Kirk and Spock. 5/5 and Add to Favs!

  • Oh, man, this is gorgeous! I have not seen a better blending of the two timelines, and your choice of song was perfect! This has got to be one of the better K/S vids I've seen yet.

  • Thanks! This is my first Star Trek fanvid, and I plan to make a few more...

  • May I suggest a song title? I really think Never Alone by Barlow Girls would make a great K/S video, especially with the kind of blending you can do. If you've never heard it, I can email you a file copy... It's all about trust, and that's totally K/S!

  • Hmm, interesting song, I've just been listening to it on YouTube.I have to say I wasn't that interested until the rest of the instruments kicked in, K/S isn't soft you know, its a full blooded bromance/slash whatever you want!

Anyway I believe I may try and make this video for you - did you want K/S from all incarnations or just the 2009 ones?

  • Truthfully, I could see it either way - I think you would be better equipped to decide. However, I will say that in my head I saw it at least starting out with 2009. Perhaps bringing in TOS scenes after the full instrumentals start?

(BTW, I have no words for how excited I am that you are considering making it. I wouldn't be able to make anything half as good as yours.)

  • hehe, that's okay - I have taken vid requests befoe. May I ask why you ask me to do it? There are other talented K/S fanvidders out there, who've been doing it far longer than I

  • I don't usually like tribute vids but this one was very well done. And I love that song. This spotlights two friends who aren't even of the same species. I'm not into slash but the freidnship has always impressed from TV to films. Thank you!

  • Thank you! When I first watched the Original Series it never crossed my mind to think of Kirk and Spock as lovers, I just enjoyed the increadible friendship between the two. However with the advent of my discovery of 'slash' fanfiction and that 'Close' fanvid on youtube, lets just say I couldn't help but start to see K/S in a slashier light...

  • This is very sweet and very well done, I love it.

  • watch from 2:40 watch spock, he looks JUST like zachary quinto there, the younger spock

  • Yeah he does! They chose a perfect cast for the new movie.

  • Wow, verrry well done, very amazing, LOVE it had me smiling all way through

  • i mean not into the older version

  • omg, completely awsome!!! i'm totally into the older verison, more of the newer one -graphics are better- but either way, this vid was awsome!!!

  • WOO OAWESOME!!! <3<3<3 O_O I LOVE IT

  • Good video. I like the old timeline/old universe better though.

  • This was Awesome. I put on on my fav lists and gave you five stars! I almost cried watching this. I'm not weird am I?

  • Great vid! 5/5 and faved.

  • Great job, SparrowNorringtonGillette! :D Gotta love these two. There's almost nothing out there that comes close.

  • Actually my name stands for SparrowNorringtonBeckett. You should watch my first music video, 'Lose Control' for those two pairings in action.

Speaking of which, I quite fancy a darker K/S video for my next project. Something in the vein of 'Closer' perhaps

  • I personally, would LOVE to see that.

  • You shall. I've posted it! My own version of 'Closer' after all would you believe

  • Love it! Kirk and Spock over the years. So glad I finally got into the orginal Slash OTP cause they are just too hot. I <3 Spock

  • Great job on this video! The song was perfect; I can't believe I had never heard it before, but I 'm glad I have now!

I really liked how you used clips from the new movie (which was AWESOME, btw). Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine did such a fantastic job...

  • Yup...heard it straight (pardon the pun:P)from my English professor.:):P

  • Y'know this pairing was the subject of the first slash videos and slash fanfictions, back in the '70's?...It's kind of a cool thought.:):P

    Love this video!!!

  • Seriously? Were they really the first slash pairing? That's awesome if they were. xD

  • they were. really.

  • Fascinating, isn't it? Although such a deep, unashamed bromance was bound to seem suggestive in the end...
