So. i have gotten everything working perfectly, avatar in 1080p took my back to when i seen it in imax 3d.Only bigger is better, i am now looking into the diy 3d projector.
Can some one help me. When i use the stereo movie player and split the movie between the two monitors, the video goes out requiring me to reopen the movie. I am using win7- 17"monitor and a 23" monitor resized in nivdia control panel to match the 17" monitor at 1280X1020.
Do i need to go back to vista or xp for the player to work right or do i need to create a right and left eye file of the movie for it to work right.
How did you know that the polarization on the displays would be opposing between them to cross over and create the stereoscopic image. Also, which glasses did you get to match the polarization from the screens?

gahhh the article was so vague in its description of what LCDs can be used. All it says is "Troll eBay for two older LCDs. According to Hellfritsch, pre-2005 models have liquid crystals between two sheets of glass, a setup that produces the required linear polarized rays."
Within these specifications, any 17" LCD made before 2005 should work perfectly, but thats clearly not the case.
if you have some polorized glasses it is very easy to discover which screens work. with most screens when you rotate the glasses when it gets to a certain angle (usually 90 or 45 degrees) it will turn black. ive been using 15" monitors made in 2007, they work fine, :)
when I rotate my glasses it turns from yellowish to bluish every 45º, but not to black. Will this monitor work? otherwise I will not buy a second. Actually is a TV but my Cinema display does the same color change but every 90º.
the colour will always change thats to do with the quarter wave plate in the glasses. what you need to do is flip the glasses round and then you will see the effect. this effect only works with lcd screens etc.

I really like that idea, but where do you get the source of 3d videos ? how do you split them to those 2 lcd`s ? You need a PC with videocard that has two outputs, but then how can you play a 3D title (if it's there). Or are all the movies in 3D then ?
you can spilt the two monitors easily if you have (like you said) a video card with two outputs, or simply two video cards. He said a program in the video for making stereoscopic video, any videos or movies can be made
What I do wonder, is how do you make the screens or how do you figure out that the screens have a different polarisation? The video does not explain this, only says LCD has natural polarisation. And this is the main ingredient to make it work. So please explain this. thx
Mirroring polarized light turn that polarization 90 degree, the reflecting coating should be on top. Even so, you depolarize a little bit of the light (also with the light passing from the back), wich can be seen in both eyes. It's really tricky to setup the brightness: It's why it is in a "darkened" box.
Also the thin kitchen PE film (the thing you wrap sandwich in) turn the polarisation about 90 degree.
one day my pearents went out for dinner, then a babysitter came along with a clown, but the clown was a murderer, he kills relentless and he killed everyone and once the perents came home the male tried to defend but he failed he chainsawed his head off and the mom, well... shes history.
post it to 10 people or vids on you tube or the clown will be in your room at 3:30 am with a chain saw, oh and by the way dont scream nowone will hear you!!!it happened 2 me

It reminds me of how Arcade machine displays work, but upside down. How does the LCD facing you work? Has he stretched the right hand side of Windows so it goes into that or has his computer got 2 video outs for each LCD screen?
because stereo optic means you need one eye to focus on a slightly different part of the screen than the other eye and that's what the glasses do for you.
No, you need 2 images, one for the left eye and one for the right eye. For example, your desktop picture is just one image and with this system it would still look flat. You need a special camera to make 3D pictures. Those camera's take 2 picture, 2 lenses seperated by the same distance as your eyes.

Those polarized glasses are probably more expensive then the mass produced red blue ones. So I don't see how it is a inexpensive way.

They sell the official (new) polarized glasses on ebay for a few dollars tops.

Dude,
It's a great idea but you taper off at the end of every sentence so it's sometimes tough to hear all of what you say.

How could you possibly make a stereoscopic video from monoscopic video?
Having said that, I saw a 3d movie on my TV (regular TV), using red-blue glasses.
Beats me.
someman7 3 years ago
you can convert them but the result will be crappy. Instead you need true stereoscopic video files (shot on 2 cameras a few centimeters apart).
yuriythebest 3 years ago
Do you know the technique used to "emulate" stereoscopic video from microscopic images?
someman7 3 years ago
monoscopic? no i do not but id love to know how they do it.

How about putting another screen in front of the vizard box that is polarized and you get rid of the glasses and the glory hole experience.
