  • Great house painting work! Like, Favored, Subed, your Friend Cal, painting contractor in Denver Colorado.

  • some of the gayest music i haven't heard in a long time.

  • ugly color. all that work and it still looks like shit, imo.

  • @BillySeagull Everyone has an opinion on color. No matter the color someone will always come by and tell you they don't like it!

  • Working off ladders. That's slow hard work. Airless or pressure pots would have increased efficiency.

  • some1 actually likes this music.

  • All off ladders? C'mon!

  • Stuff like this, one man spraying and two back brushing with 5inch brushes.

  • So, I'm curious, why waste the time and money on blue tape and plastic if you are just brushing the job?.. also, while you have already spent the money on blue tape and plastic, wouldn't it be faster to spray the paint on the walls with a 3:15 tip and the pressure dialed down low to avoid over spray, and back-brush the paint in?.. I'm no expert or anything.

  • What is the best type of paint to use on a block foundation? I want it to last for a good long time. This foundation has never been painted and I have never done it before. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

  • there is this paint caled block filler it works great on block walls its at sherwin williams

  • hey thanks for the reply! i'll check it out.

  • and it doesnt take long to mask off a house if u have a crew, its very easy,,i mean who the hell wants to paint aluminium siding with a brush,, or i even found self sometimes,, on wood to spray it then brush,, wats wrong with that..

  • i disagree with some of these comments,, iv'e been painting houses for years,, my uncles have been painting 4 over 30yrs,, and on a wood house you should brush it on,, but if ur gonna do aluminium siding you want to use a sprayer, a brush looks like shit,, even with really good brushes,,

  • Rolling & spraying is for people who don't know how to paint. Your arm & wrist are the BEST tools for painting, period.

  • spraying is for people who dont know how to paint, you'd like us to handbrush a wall instead of using a roller?

  • While I do a lot of brushed walls, I think rolling walls & ceilings is fine as I do it myself.

However, spraying sucks for exterior work. There is no true penetration.

I have stuck to my guns over the years. High-quality paint & sundries, TONS of prep, old-school labor with some new products & ways thrown in.

I see these fly-by-night painting companies, with their cheap laborers & shit work, going away & going away fast.

There's nothing more expensive than a cheap paint job...

  • true.

  • bs. re spraying you dont get penetration..you brush entire walls??? wtf? with the newer paint technologies theres no reason a spray job shouldnt last min 5 years even with acryllic, if proper prep is done this means PRIMING. and using proper primers, fillers and finish paints. . IMO you can never achieve the same esthetic quality to a proper spray job with brush and roller..no comparison.

  • @bluehorse888

X2. I have houses I sprayed 8 years ago with no chipping and still has a sheen on the paint. I remember a friend of mine brushed a house for an old lady I knew because she didn't believe sprayers give a good paint job, three years after he brushed the house it already looks like crap. Spraying is the way to go if you do proper prep work beforehand, It's all in the prepping guys and it'll last years and years.

  • @bluehorse888 your comment really depends on the type of siding on the building and the condition of the existing finish. On some siding its okay to just spray it and walk away i.e. Hardy Plank, and on others you are just flat out wrong about spraying without back rolling. Additionally not all previously painted surfaces need to be re primed before painting. I would say that buildings that need primer before RE PAINTING are in the vast minority!

  • We will paint this house in 1 day(even its a stain). crew of 3 people, 2 on preparation work (covering windows, doors, scraping, caulking), 1 on spraying. (primer, 2 coat of paint).

  • if you have to prep a whole house lts impossible to paint it in a day. Drying time on the caulk alone ls about 5 to 6 hours. I bet lf you really paint lt in a day lt looks like garbage l can bet money on lt. Or come back months lata and the shit ls peeling or cracking.

  • spraying is production garbage ROLL AND BRUSH IS CUSTOM

  • i woulda used a 25mm roller..

  • thats color stain you're using right?

  • Why were only 2 windows polyed? Why poly any of them if you are going to brush everything, unless you are sloppy.

  • Hope this job was time and materials. Brushing a whole house. LOL PS. Try some ladder booties so you dont mark up your work.

  • Unless you want to kill your wrists and shoulders or the homeowner insists on dipping from the can. If you have a set price in the proposal and want to profit the this is the method i suggest. Just bag spray and brush. I have gone around a 8000 sq/f house in three days by myself doing so. Prep is the most important factor and as long as you scrape/grind and prime with a good oil primer, my method will save you weeks of dipping and stroking.

  • I agree with the last comment. Sort of. As a fellow New England restoration painter I see alot of "hacks". I do spray but ALWAYS "back brush" my work. I feel it helps the stain/paint penetrate beter therfore lasts longer. no need to kill your wrists and shoulders applying paint one dip at a time. Unless it's T&M. lmao Good video. The house looks great.

  • lmao @ brush lasting 3 x's longer than spray. you brushers that use no poles and generally wooden ladders are painting masochists.

  • even a 415 tip on a weatherboard house, will not get all the nooks and cracks in the timber, maybe a 515 or a 517, but i still dont think so, for that kind of house brush is by far the best i believe. might take a little longer but would be a better job.

  • It is a lot of work and people who want quality are willing to pay for it. Spraying a house is purely for cosmetic purposes and will last maximum 3 years whereas if the prep (80% of the work) is done right a brush job will last 8-10 and be well worth the money.

  • I roll the paint on with 6" rollers and brush it in on this type of house. It saves your wrists and makes the job much faster. Also the stops are easier to blend. Just take a gallon pot and roller and a good 4" brush up the ladder and go.

  • Yes and no. I tried rolling and brushing with ladders. I found that to be anoying and my arms got sore anyway. Moving ladders around here and there did not help much either. So now I use a lift then the idea of rolling is effective. actualy with a boom lift and a longer platform you can move the machine and roll at the same time. Another man stands at the other side of the lift and brushes after you. Its fast and very afective.

  • Good use of effects in the slide show. I particularly liked the brazilian picolo and harmonica as background music.

  • Definitely the harmonica made a difference here, thanks.
