@icixie Lyrics : no greetings, no reply from my dearest love for what reason are you absent from my eyes ? often I have asked for you wrote letters, came and went for you you're on my mind all through the night and such longing my dear my love, and all my anticiption in my heart my love, how can i find you ? how can i please you ?
The song is about longing for one's love. This is a quick translation , I'll work on a better one later.
Dedicated to the Daughters of Nubia, Lily of the Nile captures Hamza just as he would sit and play, with no overdubs of any kind. The spareness and warmth of the recording brings the sound of Hamza's oud and his voice into new focus
Ok, I have just discovered this wonderful musician, much respect, I will be listening to much more, thank you for posting this and both educating and delighting me, good youtube vibes to you
Hamza El Din, the celebrated Nubian musician whose rich fusion of Arabic and Nubian sounds entranced audiences worldwide and inspired colleagues like the Grateful Dead and Kronos Quartet, died Monday, May 22nd, at a Berkeley hospital from a gallbladder infection. He was 76

He sounds like he would be really nice. And also kind of quiet. That might not make a lot of sense but that's just the way this music sounds to me.
It's so great to take a break from western music.
