  • always nice to see a condensing furnace in an unconditioned space. My company did this once and we had to put heat tape on all the condensate lines.

  • You're welcome, dallas. Most leak/no-heat calls on those Goodmans are installation-related problems. It's amazing how many callbacks are due to a guy not using a level or reading the installation instructions!

  • 5-tank you are the Man!! I am on a Goodman 90% fau where they hook up the condensate wrong and this video help me out. Thanks!!

  • I NEVER seen one of thoses 90's lol not in florida. ft lauderdale area. we even sell new units with NO heater at the cutomers request. then around november? we get the (I didnt say i didnt want a hearter! call) look at the invoice , you signed it saying NO HEATER! LOL

  • Short radius elbow, nice. is that in an attic? if so what the hell is it doing there? The condensate will freeze. Every 90% furnace I have ever seen in attic had it's own little conditioned room to live in.

  • @tstatech Yes, that is in an attic. We don't deal with freezing temperatures here in SoCal on a regular basis (though I have seen snow in the very town this service call took place in). You probably don't work in 130 degree attics in the summer. Many of us work in VERY different conditions. I've worked in extreme heat and extreme cold. I'd rather sweat!

  • @tstatech We get well below freezing here, we had 56 days this past winter where temperature did not get over 26 degrees ! On our attic 90's we insulate our vents with appropriate size Armour -Flex or as 5tank would sat RUBY-TEX !!! lol ( NO PROBLEMS)... As for condensate itself , I pipe my condensation line (also wraped in RUBY-TEX) to a code enforcement approved indoor Plumbing Receptacle...

  • ooooo that sucks

  • Great video, do you think they used primer as glue ?

That is why I go on and on about EMERGENCY DRAIN PANS with a safet float switch, we have to extend past appliance and coil , on all sides 6 inches, I would have to pay for that water damage out of my POCKET, so my insurance would not get jacked SKY HIGH !!!

Great job, vent looks GOOD brother !!!

  • @fritzhvac We use Red Hot Blue Glue. Easy to visually confirm that all joints are glued. That gray PVC fitting must be slightly smaller than the outside diameter of Sched40 PVC. The coupling didn't sit squarely on that fitting, which is obviously not designed for a rigid connection. Not enough insertion for a 2" fitting. I'm a fan of putting the 90%er in a pan, too. The biggest secondary pan I ever made was 70" x 32" x 1.5" deep.

  • wow you use verizon i could call you for free:)

  • cool. good job. dam that was a hack job

  • That was a good video well done!! I like the 45 , the drains on the 90% are very critical that video was perfect.

  • @dizziedallas That video actually has some REALLY jagged edges. Too realistic for most people to watch. The guys in the field need to pay attention to the finer details of venting/draining a 90%'er.

  • I had to do that exact repair last fall.

  • @mazzmari I do a few of these a year. I cringe when I get into an attic and see the vents connected without that rubber sleeve. Surprisingly, most don't leak. This job was 3 years old. I've spoken to superintendants about this. The field guys now leave all the leftover contents of the kit with the furnace. It's easier to fix the problem when the factory parts are on site.
