"Pull up" ... that should have been the clue right there. I'm not one for being pedantic over radio procedure, but on approach you need to at least be structured enough so miscomms like this don't happen.
this helps a major theory of mine...I have this idea in my head that there are thousands upon thousands of people who's last words were things like "shit!" and "fuuuuck"
this really sucks though...hopefully the aviation community was able to learn from this incident as they try and learn from every incident...that way, in a bizarre sense, some good can come from tragedies like this
that was painful to watch. These guys sounded completely unprepared to shoot that approach. One guy said he didn't even have the approach plate @ 7:35. Wow, even a student pilot would handle this situation with more awareness and preparation than these guys did.
Well, How utterly reckless and unprofessional that was ... the outcome of this flight could have been much better, regardless of having ILS or not, had the captain not miss heard the controller and took the aircraft 2000ft lower than it should have been. Such a shame.
Wow he mistook 2400 for 400? I'm not a pilot but seems like a discrepancy like that would stand out - 400 ft is mad low... sad though, rip :(
