2 red lights mean overheating. Turn the Xbox 360 off and let it cool down for at least 1 hour. Ensure that your Xbox 360 has enough free space around it. If the problem persists, you should determine the secondary error code. The procedure is the same as for 3RROD. 0011 means CPU overheating. 0012 means GPU overheating. 0013 means RAM overheating.

I got the 2 Red Lights today when I was playing Red Faction: Guerrilla. Then I turned my Xbox 360 off then turned it back on. When I did that, my Xbox 360 ran smoothly for about 20 seconds. During that short time period, it made a loud, roaring sound and the 2 Red Lights flashed on. It was very frustrating. And what really ticks me off is that I just overcame my problems with the 3 Red Lights. But even after this bad situation, I'm still a huge Xbox 360 fan.

Well, people, I hate to say it, but this is why I got a PS3. Xbox's just crash too much. The games are good, sure, Gears Of War (exclusive) Crackdown (exclusive) etc..

But the new PS3 slim doesn't crash. AT ALL. I used to have an Xbox and got the ring of doom, but the PS3 is bliss! And it has free live! Sure, the connection can be bad sometimes but..who cares if it's free??????

@Mrhappy508 one reason the overheat is the power cord,the first 360's had this problem the part of the cord that goes into the xbox was made of metal with conducts heat easily. if ur xbox keeps overheating check the power cord if its metal buy a plastic one.

fuck!!!! i think mine was broken from too much dust! i was vaccumming my room (it was fucking dusty) and left the xbox on the floor and so most of the dust started going inside my hard drive!!!! oh well,

Part 2 fix -

6) Reasemble Heatsinks/Dvd drive.....

7) Do the "penny fix" wrapping 2 pennys with electrical tape, make 4 sets.

8) Remove pink end of themal heat pads and place over ram chips under motherboard, apply set of wrapped pennies to each.

9) screw motherboard to case. Pennies will make it a little more difficult to reassemble.

10) Hook it up and test!! worked for me like a champ!

I am not taking any credit for any techniques used to repair this. I researched these all online.

My xbox did this EXACT same thing... However...I was able to fix it.

Error Code: 0013 RAM OVERHEAT

Solution: 1) If not already done, do the xclamp mod 2) Take apart entire system down to bare motherboard. 3) remove all thermal paste from GPU and CPU, clean to a mirror like finish also remove heat pads from under ram chips 4) Get a heat gun and heat up entire board (top and bottom) then concentrate on heating up GPU and ram chips roughly 30 sec each 5) reapply AS5 to gpu/cpu

well, 1st i took my xbox360 appart to the bare motherboard, and found that my cpu heatsink was loose. I was like WTF. so i plugged meh shit back into the xbox, and pressed firmly down on the heatsink and wala it was fixed :D.

i have the same problem... Ive no experience in this area... but if the two-quarter-ring means "overheating" and the system really isnt even warm.... then Id conclude the heatdetector might be broken... So the xbox shuts down after some seconds due to safety measures...

internal dust in your xbox may be the problem. the easiest way to get the dust out is to get a can of commpressed air and attach a nozzle to it. blow the air through the back holes in you xbox and dust should come out. if dust build up isnt your problem you might have to apply themal paste under the x clamps. which can be shown to you in a youtube video
