The "prevention" as McCain calls it is people putting off going to the primary Doctor as much as they can. Why? Because we don't want to know if we are sick. If we find out we are sick, the insurance company also finds out we are sick, which means we will get dropped from coverage at some point. THIS is one of the many reasons why "preventive health care" CAN NOT be in the same sentence with "health insurance company".

YES, the President expects you to work your ass off to get health care reform. But REAL reform, with a Public Plan. Yes, YOU have to communicate with your constituents (in an unbiased way) and ask the about the public plan. 72% of the US believes in a public plan.

The health insurance companies are self-serving and bureaucratic; the only way they know to cut costs is by denying people service. McCain has his VA healthcare, why deny the US at least a basic level of health care?

There was a time when I actually respected Sen. McCain, even though I'm a Dem. I still respect his service in Nam. I no longer think of him as a guy who will do what's right even if it goes against his party. He has never been without health insurance, of that I'm sure. He is a wealthy man with how many houses? He hasn't a clue what the average "Joe" (not "Joe the Clueless Non-Plumber") has to deal with when it comes to obtaining health care insurance. I'm looking forward to his retirement!

Well being a vet, I'm sure he has never gone without insurance. Although, I'm sure that he has had private care instead, as it is better. You have to respect any Vets service for sure!! However I think the entire "how many homes do you own" question was blown out of proportion. His wife is Ultra Super Rich, so he can never be sure what she has bought or sold, as that isn't his concern.

The difference between them, is that one comes from a patrician family & the other watched as his mother battled insurance companies while dying of cancer. The 'option' of having a gov. insurer gives the private insur. companies competition. I thought competition was a good thing? As it stands now, insurance companies have an unspoken monopoly on their business; that is motivated by profit, not quality, service or cost effectiveness. Who cares about the patient, not them!

I have to go now...... I have to write the insurance check that covers our employees. Which they currently do not claim as their income, that which they only pay a tiny portion of. I think people should take care of themselves and those around them and not rely on the Government to solve their problems. They will come to see what a mistake that was IF this happens.

Can you read English? I PAY for 98% of my employees insurance. They do not claim that as their income, so they are not taxed on it. I CHOOSE to do this. However, other businesses could fold if they were FORCED to do this, then the employees would lose their jobs!!!! I started with nothing and made something out of it. More than Americas "been good to me" I earned it!! I also choose who benefits from it, not the Government!!!

I'm about to leave my job and between my student loans, the fee I have to pay to terminate the lease on my apartment, and my medical bills past and pending (second surgery in 13 months tomorrow), I'm not going to have the money (~$800/month!!) for COBRA.
