@Drew00621 I'm not sure if Paulie is trying to say that he knew he wouldn't kill Tony or that Christopher wanted to die, knowing that pulling a gun on a boss is tantamount to suicide by cop. If Paulie meant the latter that could be seen as Paulie encouraging him Tony to shoot or to let him off the hook. And with both of those outcomes it's at least understandable for Christoper to shout at Paulie as suicide is seen by the Mafia as a very shameful act.

Even though chrissie was an impulsive maniac, and in a lot of ways a liability, all the guys didn't want to see him die. Even hardcase paulie tries to persuade tony not to kill him by saying he probably knew there were no bullets in his gun. In a way it's touching that even amongst criminals there is some love.
