This is the era where Sublime was killing it. Brad is shredding the fucking guitar to pieces, toasting like most stoner ass Jamaicans wish they could and if you look...it aint Bud on drums. Unfortunately, most documented Sublime shows were later on...when the party and drug intake had taken its toll to the point where the guitar really was a hindrance to Brad. Just try and question the feeling behind those vocals though.

....and yeah. Kennys sister is a ditz.

I wouldn't say it was a hindrance at all, he's fuck up from time to time but always kept the flow going, & he did a lot of really creative shit. People exagerrate how badly Sublime supposedly played b/c of being intoxicated imo. Most of the time they still killed it judging from the recordings. Not to say that their early shit wasn't the shit too & I wish there was more of it.

Brad was waaay more on it guitar chops wise at this time then he was later on. Hindrance may be a strong description but often pretty accurate. I've seen every live show bootleg out there and I'd say this is the best example of how he did shred. I have a feeling based on hearing that one recording from the box set that the show they played stone sober backing up HR might be an even better example.

I hear you but I'm just saying he was dope as fuck, even when trashed & playing sloppy. Due to his creative genius. If you look at it another way, you are probably right that his playing was tighter when he was sober/less trashed, but on the other hand doing that may have taken his playing in different directions it might not have gone otherwise. Ultimately it wasn't worth it since it cost him his life, but at least we're still able to enjoy the recordings leftover for what they are.
