you prolly wont read this but when he tunes it down it means every open string is loosend up so that the first fret sound becomes the sound the open string should make when in standard tuning so just hold you finger on the 1st fret of the a string and turn it down till it makes the normal sound for example first fret of the low E string becomes an E

down tune it so it sounds less high pitched, your first string E will be half turned lower. and then the second string will be down tuned along with it and so with other s

You turn the knobs on the top of the neck. if you have an electric tuner, it will make it easer
