I simply love Daryl Coley. I sung with minister Coley at the Orpheum theatre in Memphis during the early 90's. My choir (the Voices of Binghampton) supported him 2 more times, even when he came to Bountiful Blessings. In addition to being an anointed singer, he is also a very very nice and genuine person. His voice is so uplifting and anointed. My wish is to visit his church in California. Thank you soooo much pastor Coley for being my inspiration.
He was on the celebration of gospel and I wish he would have given us a little something, a little "hoop" or at least good ol Daryl C oley humm, heard he was sick last year, but I am happy to see him at least walking and talking....God Bless

On Sunday Jan 20 I attended the benefit concert for Daryl Coley in Oakland Calif. Donald Lawrence was there with a local choir, who also sang back up for Richard and Vanessa. Talk about a wonderful time in Jesus, it was indeed. And finally Minister Daryl Coley got up and sung like only he can sing. What a blessing!!!
Why were her and Blanche in the tenor section? Neither one of them sings tenor. Blanche has heavy tones but she's an alto. And I think LeJuene may even be a mezzo soprano (2nd soprano). John P Kee doesn't let her get away with singing this low. :-)
In gospel music directors often don't go by the strict definitions for the sections. if they can hit the notes, they'd probably be placed in that sections especially if there's a shortage of guys. and actually you'd be surprised. i don't know about now but before, the tenor section leader for john p. kee was a woman.
@TJCollins21 No way is Blanche an alto. She is a tenor. Of course she can sing in an alto key, lol most tenors can. Not a whole song, but most good singers have range. Back to Blanche, most people can't tell she is a woman when she sings. She is 100% tenor. LeJune is tenor/alto. She is not a mezzo soprano. Why do people try to make all good singers with range soprano's. That is crazy. Daryl Coley is a tenor too and his voice is very high for a man, but he is still a tenor.
@aprigirl I don't argue over voice classifications so I'll just say this: "Tenor" is a male voice classification. The lowest female voice is called "contralto" (which is the same as a male tenor). Blanche has a very broad range and on a lot of her solos with the Tri-City singers, she sustains an alto's range. As for LeJ, on John P. Kee's NLCC reuinion cd, she easily meets upper alto notes. I'm not trying to "make them sopranos"; I'm just noting that their ranges broader than most think.
O its just a blessing 2 see Pastor Daryl Coley still keep'n on! He is 1 of the best vocalist that we will ever see during this time! And it looks like he's put on some weight and his vision is getting better and better! GLOOOOOOOOOORAY!

I think this man is more spectacular than he is credited for. It ain't about his unique voice but because of the fact that when he sings you feel that it came from somewhere. Not from vocal lessons or demo tapes but from a testimony. That's true gospel. Let's dig the vocal art but also not forget to focus on the message. Let the people feel and believe that message thru our voice for only that way can souls be saved and lives changed. Can I get an amen?
