I think a mac tablet will be introduced because we have a touch ipod, the iphone and the next should be a mac tablet. However many people consider the iphone as a mac tablet because it run os x and it has touch.

In my opinion the Macbooks will be updated aesthetically and the macbook pros will be updated to quad core processors. The mac mini will have everything updated.

The reason i think the the macbooks wont be upgraded in terms of hardware is because the current macbooks r becoming very competitive with the macbook pros.

the recent MB and MBP rumours suggest we may see a revision in august as well. apple have certainly stepped up their game with laptop updates this last 12 months!

i reckon imacs probably september - october time might see a speed bump, ipods probably in november.

Apple is not gonna make a tablet. Tablets are a failure in the market (and that's fact), and Apple knows this. THEY DON'T SELL, not to mention that they are outdated.

Multi-touch doesn't belong in computers (desktops, notebooks), it belongs in devices like phones and things you can carry in your pocket. There is no real advantage of having multi-touch in computers compared to what we have now (other than eye candy).

I disagree about redesign of macbooks. If anything, the macbook pro needs to be redisigned, the macbook design is newer than the macbook pro, because the pro just used the powerbook G4's design with a few tweaks.

Same thing with the MacBook. MacBook looks almost exactly the same as a 12" iBook G4. They need to update both MacBook and MacBook Pro.

Not really. It's thinner, is has the magnetic latch, widescreen, chicklet keyboard. The macbook pro is same except for ports & the IR sensor. It's hard to distinguish a powerbook G4 & a macbook pro. It's easier to distinguish an ibook and macbook.

There's almost no physical difference that is notable apart from that the MacBook has a slightly bigger screen. The thinness difference can't be noticed because it's less than .25" but the iBook weights less. They have almost the same ports and both are white polycarbonate.

well, there's more of diff to me, owning both, it's easier to distinguish. Maybe it's just me, but they always seem more different than the macbook pro to the powerbook

True. The PB looks more similar to the MBP than the iBook to the MB.

They both look similar to their predecessors though, which is why I think both need an update.

I Can EXTREMELY agree with you that tablets would work amazingly in the med department. The Internal med doctor would write something on the chart, surgeon is auto forwarded what he wrote ex" Prep for Renal Surgery" (Renal=Kidney people) and he can immediately get the OR ready!

I really dont think that a Tablet PC, like the Axiotron Modbook, would be a good idea, even in a doctors situation since no doctor I know walks into a patients rooms with a tablet PC? If it was a portable pc like your palms thats a different story. A "mac palm" would be an amazing idea however to make a big differenc

not for another year or two. the imac g3 spanned 3 years, imac g4 spanned 2.5 years, imac g5 spanned 2 years, the white imacs spanned about 2-3 years, and our new aluminum imacs are nearing 1 years of age, so i am thinking the new imac will be coming in a year or two, most likely 2

I believe that Intel recently discussed releasing a quad core processor for laptops which is suppose to release in the 3rd quarter. Intel is a big part of mac and I believe we are looking at having quad core processors in the next line of macs. It would be great to have an updated mac mini, right now they are not even as powerful as your macbooks and that is sad for a desktop. I have stood away from getting one myself because I kept thinking they were going to update but that never happened

I wouldnt like a tablet notebook if it would look loke the "ModBook". But as we know Apple they probably improve this old technology .... to be honest right now I´m not very into tablets.....but they could be the way of the future if they reinvent it in a big way like the mobilephone.

yes we do, we could use it in the medial field for patient charts records, think about how easy it would be, a doctor could have any patient details on one tablet, rather than details on paper. as the doctor has the tbalet the patient details are udpated on the system and updates to the tablet through the internet, of push information.

ye i agree we need a mini laptop, i think the macbook air is kinda wasted. i meani love how its thin and very very portable but i mean if that was about 2 inches smaller in terms of screen with a few extra ports and maybe a dvd drive then we got what we want. i look at the dell e and the asus eeepc and i want a mac version but i doubt it will happen.

I think that they should come out with a laptop like the Powerbook 12 inch, but just modify it a bit and upgrading it's processors and RAM and all that.

mac pro will not get big updates, nothing to effect ppl wanting to buy a mac pro, but mac pro updates occur every few years, the 8 core update was last year so i doubt we will see anything big for another 2 years, and i mean BIG changes.

I think a tablet is a possibility, I heard Bill Gates say on TV at some point that Microsoft were gonna do a tablet at some point, so it follows that Apple might do one as well.

For all these big things i think that apple will wait until macworld or wwdc 09, they are too big for a small event the updates, not so much.

well the laptops and ipods arent too big a deal and they happened last time in small events so i guess it could happen. tablet in macworld and mac mini revision perhaps in a small event but not sure abotu this august.

I think the tablet would be a massive thing for apple to announce, they would want loads of press and so on to promote it, i think its unlikely that will be announced in the small event. The iPods don't even need updating but The macbook's (Including the pro) do, they could be announced, and maybe a revision on some of their monitors, they haven't been revised for ages, the cinema displays are quite thick now for todays standards.

I agree with everything you say, I don't want the mini to be discontinued too, but I think they should also do a mid-range tower. It would be nice to see the laptops upgraded, I agree with the whole August Event happening. I think iPod will get done nearer to christmas time.
