He puts the tube thingy through his windpipe, you control your breathing from your diapghram (i fail at spelling if thats wrong), which is near your stomach not in you throat or mouth.

so it oppens when its filled with water? thats how he gets out of it after stabbing his throat? also people hae been saying when they do the box camera shot u can see a figure with the bubbles going

in the making of this it shows that he actually went in a box (that could open for emergency) with water in it. he just had to hold his breath for around a minute and it took like thousands of tries to get it right. he also made signals with his hands for when he cant breath and wants the box opened to release the water. but at one moment i think he also had to stick the pen in his neck (not really in his neck) with the blood effects while he held his breath. SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!­!!!!!!
