Why didn't they put this on Hot Space??? They could've added it if they wanted to, it's only about four minutes. Or they coulda taken another song out and replaced it with this!

I'm a queen die hard mexican fan, i have never heard this song, it's a trmendous voice Freddie bestows to all of us. It was a pleasure to live in the same era he did. God bless his gay soul, and I hope some day people understand that what really matters is the heart. I'm not gay by the way

i love the reference to queen's song you're my best friend, we are the champions, we will rock you, flash, keep yourself alive, somebody to love and under pressure
Freddie singing about his Ahura Mazda from whose mind he plucked the most amazing Music/Lyrics in the history of mankind. Y'all didnt think BoRhap was written by a simple human; it was gifted to us by a man who had an intimate relationship with the Creator.
This chit chat is so funny ! I just love you guys! This stuff is very interesting & revealing. I love learning about their relationship with one another.
I also love the song Brian wrote after Freddie died. Of course it sends me into a torrent of tears!
FREDDIE! FREDDIE! FREDDIE! You were truly one of a kind!!!! And we will LOVE YOU FOREVER!!!!
Brian wrote No One But You for Freddie. Get the tissues out if you're going to listen to it. It is heart wrenching for sure!!! Plus they leave a glass of champagne on the piano....for Freddie. It rips my heart out!
jkws....I would not have missed it for the world! In fact that's where one of my favorite pictures was taken of Freddie and his gorgeous twinkling eyes. (The one with him all dressed up, epaulets & all, along with a crown of flowers....his eyes are like the loveliest shining stars in the galaxy!)
Well, you know, in order to be a well-rounded Queen fan, you have to get around! I have my favorites, but I'm determined to know them all! They're so eclectic, so I have to be too!
There are so many things about the catwalk clip that I enjoy including all the ones you have mentioned. I think my fav is when he is on his way to altar and realizes he has left his bride. lol. The expression on his face when she catches up to him is priceless.
JKWS: i love that video too; the way the audience responds when he comes out, you can just tell he was the one they were waiting for! in the long version, i love him hurling that gigantic bouquet out into the audience, and chasing bob geldof around. Freddie really livened that event up!
I think you, FREDDIEMANIAC, and I should meet. We seem to have a lot in common, hang out in the same places, and we enjoy all the little nuances of the Maestro.
FREDDIEMANIAC, i just watched NOBY, even being prepared, the end with the sound of the closing door and the lights going out did me in. I want only one thing, I WANT FREDDIE BACK.

"Freddie told me one day he had a surprise for me - he said, 'I've written a song about you - but it needs your touch on it!' [....] Anyway. we got in the studio and he played this song. Now whether it was really about me I don't know. But I thought it was fab. I know he wrote it in about 15 minutes!"
What surprises me here is that I was always under the impression that Freddie's closest colleague within the band was Roger. Likewise, I'd say that we all know that the band member most into soul music was John. Interesting!
What I really love in this song are the references to Queen's past songs - "He's my best friend, he's my champion, and he will rock you (...) he can make you keep yourself alive (...) when you're under pressure (...)"
I think it could be true. They were such a huge influence on eachother, they kissed eachother awake, one might say. After Freddies death, Brian sounds more like a real guitar hero, in his "Freddie days" he sounded more like an orchestra master!
Had this song made it onto the Hot Space album, it would have been one of the best on it. Queen lost it on this album. I was mad on them at the time, then I got this album and it just made their earlier album's trademake comments 'and nobody played synthysiser' look stupid. At least on the game the synths were gently broken in. This song shows that they could have kicked major ass had they not focussed on such crap as 'body language'
9540525, every time I listen to this song, I re-read your thoughtful comment. Yes, he sings about God. If you like this, you might enjoy FM's "All God's People." He wrote the Music & Lyric then sings about his Zoroastrian Faith, not in riddles as he did in the early years; rather, clearly, straight up, out on the table for all to hear.
yes. but i like better the riddles...like My Fairy King...!!!
All God's People i like the vocals soo much!!!...but when i hear the words...khmm...i don't like how he sings there... He's so incrediable,God's people...and soo on. But the song is very good!
No one can listen to the songs of Freddie and cannot be caught up in the soul of his music, and lyrics a passionate player who can communicate his listeners...
I know! He could win me over to any genre I might before have loated! He just had an amazing flair for music and a way of using his voice.. A creative genius!
He does! The music of bands like Queen and Marillion just speaks a thousand fold more to me than most music of today.. I am quite sure too that my children (when and if they come) will be literally bottled up on Queen, I am wondering where Queen was my whole childhood myself ;)
I had the good fortune of growing up in the seventies so I really have been a fan a long time and my 24 year old daughter is discovering that Queen is great although my eighteen year old won't even listen to them. Take care.
I would have loved to have been more aware of them in my childhood, that I do envy you ;) I faintly remember some of the songs beeing played in the radio and I think I have this faint memory too of hearing of his death, I didn't really understand then, I was only about five but it was one of my first encounters with AIDS.. Hmm, your daughter must have felt like me, Queen for sure, but it wasn't until half a year ago I REALLY discovered them. It's been an unstopable passion since.. All the best!
OH MY GOD!!! that is all that i have to say for this!!! i love freddie and queen soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!!!! this song is amazing =] miss ya "soul brother"!! i love you <3
thank you for this post ; i remember this song ; one year, during my studies, i'll always played this song after a little nap and before going back to study again for next examination ; Great song, gives so much energy, especially the last seconds
I Like those little refrences to your my best friend, we are the champions, we will rock you, keep yourself alive, somebody to love, and under pressure.
Someone told me once that this song was a result of a jamming scene during the recording of HOT SPACE and later (with some adaptations) edited as a B-side (Under Pressure). If that's the truth, it's really a superb improvisation!!! Queen rules!!!
hmm i got this on a vinyl single.. should i sell it ?
i allso have thank god its x-mas, blurred vision (bad in my taste)
and a few more specials, like a human body,i go crazy, made in heaven single with something strange as b side..arghh i dont even remember the names.. times fly too fast it seeme.. havent heard them for years../ miss u freddie..
Is there like any possibility to get these songs? Brian, Roger and John must do an album of these songs, I'd definitely buy that one! I wish they'd just put all these songs on one album and name it like "Queen jamming" or whatever. I'm so frustrated now that I know there are so much more material from Queen AND FREDDIE that I have never even heard and which I can't have here on my computer and listen to whenever I want to without coming here.

Someone told me once that this song was a result of a jamming scene during the recording of HOT SPACE and later (with some adaptations) edited as a B-side (Under Pressure). If that's the truth, it's really a superb improvisation!!! Queen rules!!!

This wasn't a jam, it was actually released as a 'B' side back in the early 80's I think along with ' a human body'

1981, B-side to Under Pressure. And also featured in a missing album - "Complete Vision", cradle of that rock anthem called "One Vision". 5/5 BTW ^^

Felt the same thing the first time I heard it in 1993. Keep looking, I´ve listened to more new Queen material in the past year than ever.
