@matchbox555 Lol yeah. I was gonna say...you can be the BIGGEST beatle fan ever and not like that song. That was the point they made it for, I think. And if not.....that's unfortunate for them lol.
John hated himself, unfortunately. Self-loathing transferred some of it to Republicans . . .who represented his own wealth, which NEVER could have been acquired under hos own political beliefs. His guitl and self loathing never overode his enjoymenty of his money though. Go figure.
Liberals are SO shallow, which is why they don't actually "get" what happened with the Beatles. Paul still feels guilty too . . .but not guilty enough to surrender his perks. It's all kinda hypocritical

if yoko is who john chose, then i respect that. i can't stand all these people saying that mrs ono split up the beatles. they were going to split up anyway - it was inevitable. and when john was with yoko it was a time when he was almost truly happy, and i hate it that people are so bitter about the beatles splitting up that they attack the love between two artists. i mean, really.
Yeah, this is some great music...the best that they ever did...just before ol' Cowboy John Lennon walked in, said, "I want a divorce" and then walked back out. "Oh, how the life goes on..."
@ruthiesky Although there had been running disputes between the members of The Beatles, namely between Lennon and McCartney, Paul McCartney stated publicly in 1970 that the band had broken up. There had been no such final agreement between the band members, but McCartney's statement was followed by a "Fine, then"-type reaction on the parts of Lennon, Harrison, and Starr.
@gbkarr87 Then are you saying that John Lennon never did such a thing? It is my understanding that he did. Please clarify, if you would be so kind. Thank you. I am not surprised by McCartney's attitude. It doesn't seem as if he ever liked the Yoko-thing. (I, myself, am not a Yoko liker, sorry, but I'm just not) Paul McCartney and John Lennon both had tremendous talent (Paul still does) but Paul seemed to have the bigger ego. I saw Lennon as a true creator and McCartney as the true career man.
@ruthiesky John Lennon explained to Dick Cavett, later in the '70s, that he had suspected that it would be inevitable for the band members to part ways eventually. He understood that they were individual artists who were growing up and into their respective styles. He never claimed to have felt betrayed by McCartney's decision. He acknowledged that the break-up had to have happened at some point, and that it did result in beautiful music being written by McCartney, Harrison, and himself.
@gbkarr87 I appreciate your patience and clarification. However, I think that you may have misunderstood me. What I am asking is, did John Lennon walk into some sort of studio session at one point and say, "I want a divorce" and then walk out, again? If he did, that's just plain cool. I can just picture it.
@ruthiesky It was at their Apple headquarters in London. He recalled in an interview, “At the meeting Paul just kept mithering on about what we were going to do, so in the end I just said, ‘I think you’re daft. I want a divorce’.” That was in September, 1969. They kept quiet about the altercation, lest it harm sales of the "Let it Be" album, which was about to be released. Seven months later, Paul McCartney announced that the Beatles had disbanded.
@gbkarr87 Wow. That is just priceless. Obviously, it was a relief then, for the band. They were, like, already to go on their own then. The fans (including me) took it pretty hard, at first. But back then, we didn't realize how much more great music those four guys would produce. As for Paul McCartney and John Lennon, I suppose they were ready to part ways and reinvent themselves. But I would love to have been a mouse in the corner of that room when John Lennon delivered that famous line. Thanks
I hear people critisize songs like Wild Honey pie and the particippation of Yoko in The continuing Story of Bungalow Bill, but who cares. It's the love of the beatles that they gave to us and the love that they took with us.
I have the original mono mix on vinyl which I bought in the early 1970s. The first thing I noticed with the remastered mono mix is that there are five claps at the beginning of Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da just like in the stereo mix. The true original mono mix is missing the claps.
Problem is they're not that timeless. They are a slice and a particular direction you can take with music. Not the only direction you can take. And it concerns me that people have elevated this group to such heights as being musical jesus. And the best. They are the most popular group. But art in it's infinite nature has no best. I mean no disrespect to a successful group but they are definitely not on my gotta hear before I die list.
@desoblake The Beatles have influenced many bands that came out during the 60s and beyond all the way up to today. Their style is so diverse that the music is indeed timeless.
Man, does THIS bring back lots of memories. The Beatles were forbidden in my home when I was a kid. They were entirely too radical. So, we'd slink over to a neighbor kid's house and listen!! ;-) Man was I broken hearted when they broke up!
brian Epistein " Kids will probably still be listing to the Beatles in the year 2000". hey Brian guess what? the year is 2010 and kids are still listing to The Beatles.
Things aare getting rediculous with all this mainstream rap shit. Why don't you get off the bandwagon and listen to some GOOD music?? the beatles are forever the best band in all music
Plus, I think part of the thing that makes the Beatles not only the best band but probably the most important thing in music, and one of the most important things in all art and cultural history, in the last 100 years is the fact they fit their time.
They start 1962, right when the first parts of the 60s really get going, they develop with it, and right when the "Love" movement sort of fractures and life gets hostile, they breakup.
I like the fact that kids are starting to get to know the Beatles. They have practically covered all music genre in the almost ten years they were together as the most influential band of the 20th century, from pop to rock. Get the White Album kids, and listen to the origins of heavy metal rock. Thanks to dad for introducing me to this timeless band. Bands today will be forgotten in years to come but the Beatles' sound will still be rocking for all eternity.
@ericdapugi from pop to rock?? .Rock IS pop . Get to school kids. The Beatles are a rock/pop band ,not a band that plays pop AND rock. They didnt cover evry genre ,they incorporated themes from diff, genres into their rock/pop music .Theres a difference. There is no Beatles` Jazz tune, there is a Beatles` rock/pop tune with Jazz themes in it though, capice?? Theres no Beatles` Classical song but there is a Beatles` rock/pop song with Classical themes, you dig?!! Learn it right kids, not half-baked.
@ericdapugi Yes us kids are getting to no the beatles i mean the times are changing and the need for peaceful protest is going up and Me myself as a teen ive gotten everyone i know to listen to the beatles and want to rebel against authority and as bob dylan put it "The times are changing" the need for garbage autotuned disney "music" has gone down and the need for real music has gone up and thats why alot of teens have turned to the beatles.
@ericerest - You are sooooo correct- There is no soul in today's music-
the Beatles were real people making real music- and spoke of the universally relevant issues that responsible kids growing up want to and need to see. Especially of they don't have that gentle, but firm hand of leadership on their shoulder provided by their parents or other adults- that every kid should have.
@ericdapugi That is so correct Im 12 I heard of the beatles when I was 9 I just loved them the first time I saw them and they just live on,it's so much better than justin bieber (I dont mind) and the jonas brothers (I HATE)
consider that Hey Jude was left off the album. that song would have been a career for many of the bands of that time...& now. their music is timeless.
I LOVE THE WHITE ALBUM! but sgt peppers and the magical mystery tour are also amazing albums and i love their older stuff too like from help! so its really hard :/
i have to admit this album and Sgt Peppers ohh its a close run thing has to which one to pick has my best!?what do you people reckon?which would you choose?
McCartney said of this song: "We were in an experimental mode, and so I said, 'Can I just make something up?' . It was very home-made; it wasn't a big production at all. I just made up this short piece and I multitracked a harmony to that, and a harmony to that, and built it up sculpturally with a lot of vibrato on the [guitar] strings, really pulling the strings madly. Hence, 'Wild Honey Pie', which was a reference to the other song I had written called 'Honey Pie'."
According to McCartney the song might have been excluded from The Beatles album, but Pattie Boyd "liked it very much so we decided to leave it on the album."
I was just being silly, Efingerboard said "[John] was gunna leave [Yoko] and go back to england just after he was shot." So, being silly, I said "It would be amazing if he went anywhere AFTER getting shot." That's all. I love Paul and JOHN, And miss them..
actully in an interview with john he stated the real reason they broke up was george. i 4get why but yoko inspired some of johns greatest songs in his solo career most were i found this out at the john lennon exzibit in ny's annex
how do u work that out his album after he left the beatles double fantasy is a classic and he wrote woman, beautifull boy, dream no9,imagine ,jealous guy and many many others after he left and when he was with yoko so ur talking pish maye sorry
am i the only one who thinks Yoko ruined Bungalow Bill? I mean, its not their best song...but still. Its The Beatles. Not The Beatles and someone else.
Way back in the 1960's, when the good girls liked the Beatles & the bad girls liked the Stones, I was always more of a Stones girl.
Peace !

why are people taking their time trying to choose over the white album and sgt pepper?!?
the beatles were amazing and musical geniuses and all their albums were great, stop choosing
abb123451 2 years ago 6
consider that Hey Jude was left off the album. that song would have been a career for many of the bands of that time...& now. their music is timeless.

Hmm
I LOVE THE WHITE ALBUM! but sgt peppers and the magical mystery tour are also amazing albums and i love their older stuff too like from help! so its really hard :/

As musicas são boas, porem as letras são meio estranhas. São poucas as letras com algum sentido lógico.
Juva1996 2 years ago
even their throwaway songs were catchy as hell... i have to stop listening to these fellas ... they are too good, it is almost embarrassing.

whats the deal with honey pie? either a filler, or they were high as a kite and forgot to take it off the album.
its not a horrible song, but they could have done 5x better.

Alipollie 2 years ago
According to McCartney the song might have been excluded from The Beatles album, but Pattie Boyd "liked it very much so we decided to leave it on the album."

who played the classical guitar outro to wild honey pie?

George and Paul were fighting, that is why they broke up. Paul got big headed and into the '70's . Not John or Yoko's fault
vanjohnbest 2 years ago 4
yea, but the situation with Yoko didnt help:/
by the end you could tell they were ready to move on

I was just being silly, Efingerboard said "[John] was gunna leave [Yoko] and go back to england just after he was shot." So, being silly, I said "It would be amazing if he went anywhere AFTER getting shot." That's all. I love Paul and JOHN, And miss them..

I know! I thought your sentence structure joke was funny, and I was attempting to make a supplementary joke of my own.

Yoko wrecked John Lennon as a poet/lyricist. He should of listened to his mates.
philhh65 2 years ago
actully in an interview with john he stated the real reason they broke up was george. i 4get why but yoko inspired some of johns greatest songs in his solo career most were i found this out at the john lennon exzibit in ny's annex

am i the only one who thinks Yoko ruined Bungalow Bill? I mean, its not their best song...but still. Its The Beatles. Not The Beatles and someone else.
