My interpretation is that it's little Masao dreaming. every other dream he's had during the movie have been nightmares, but now the adults have cheered him up and made him happy. :)

I just posted on another board - this film was my introduction to a different style of conveying comedy - one that was also effective and disarmingly funny. Just as you see the little water melon sitting in the sand pit and then it's revealed that it's the lovable "sucker" Fatso! - so funny and then the camera reveals Baldy bigger sucker #2 - not having ANY head protection just painted as a watermelon --- classic! lol!

@amykosjiu one of the things i loved about this movie is the kindness you see from various people throughout the movie. From the hotel guy giving his money to the couple that gave him the angel bag to these guys of course.

@Kainthemain Yes it's a very kind movie, I love it so much. By the way, watching its fragments on this video just now I noticed that these guys (Baldy and Fatso) have wings too - look at their coats from the back side since 6:48 :) I didn't pay attention on this detail before.

@6xiongirl9 Mm, where are reindeers, Roni?.. :) well on the coats I see eagles with wings.. :) Though, in fact in this movie we can notice many "images" and "metaphors". So, it's not a surprise when everyone sees something special ^_^

@YellowLilia truetruetrue, those are eagles! though if you see it like the uhm: brown: antlers; red: mouth; in the yellowish you can see a dark shade too, those can be the eyes... than it's a reindeer! ;-)
