@dutchfumaster For the audio it's the guitar that you see in any given video (since about this time last year) plugged directly into an Axe FX Ultra (which gives me my guitar tone), this then goes direct into my computer and I record in Logic 9. This is the audio I mix with the video.
As for the video, I generally tend m use a Canon 7D, but occasionally will use a GoPro HD Hero when my girlfriend isn't willing to help me film. I sync everything up and colour grade in Final Cut Pro 6.
Mayones for guitar and Gibson for bass? Seriously Petey? Step it up :D I understand people's choice of simplicity on vintage gear but Gibson Grabber (four string) in the face of Mayones 8 string shows obviously how much you care about the bass :D
Theres one thing I dont like about this new style of prog metal, the bass is hard to make out apart from some pick attack. Although saying that, April by Tesseract is the shit!!
@666jony666 Other than the time signature I wouldn't call this particular thing prog metal at all, it's really much more hardcore punk stylistically. Also I have mixed the bass particularly high in this so if you can't hear it then I'm not sure what to say, it has a much grittier distortion going on than the guitars but also has the clean note mixed in there too and is a whole octave down.
@PeteygRaves I appreciate the reply. I ment in general in similar bands music that I find the bass kind of hard to make out. I forgot to mention that this piece features quite the opposite. I quite like your description of your music. Amazing and original content as always man.
@ShredTraining Nope the final production was all Nolly, I only really produced the electronics since I composed all of those parts, but everything else was down to Nolly and I have to give it to him, the amount of effort he put into that was monumental.
@gjmvi Listen on some headphones or some good speakers, not just laptop speakers. If you still can't hear it then try and latch onto the sound of the downward slide at the very beginning, as it's only the bass that does that.
Hey Pete, love your stuff man! From your song-writing and playing to your mixing, always brilliant and inspirational. Your uploads make my day and make me pick up my guitar more often. Thank You!
great!

That bass is pretty nice. Almost Music Man sounding with that kind of buzzy attack.

I don't see how people are having issues hearing the bass. It's distorted and extremely high in the mix. I can hear it on my laptop speakers easily.

What tuning / string gauge are you using? Sounds colossal!
someguyoketcetc 1 month ago
@someguyoketcetc The bass is tuned C G C F, I'm unsure as to what the string gauges are, I think the thickest string is a 105 though.
