  • Go George!!!

  • That's why I started listening to Bluegrass. Country today seems to me that it is a mix of pop and Southern Rock. It's as if country music has been extinguished somehow. Also I have to listen to online streaming radio sites because not many stations will air Bluegrass or real country.

  • is doesnt matter if the music 2 day isnt so good b cause there is a whole history of great music 2 listen 2 and watch. personally I rarely listen 2 todays music and i enjoy the search 4 that lil 1 that makes me smile and sing and dance and wish they were still here making such great music.

  • King of Country Music that is George Jones !

  • i love it

  • Much better than the recorded version, which is a good song but too overproduced and saccharine in my opinion. This the raw heart of that same song. Plus Mr. Jones is really on form and not too stoned or drunk to show off his gift. No wonder the crowd go bonkers at the end.

  • women now don't care what the man thinks when they dump them, but we still care, am I right?

  • Tammy had a LOT of guts to sit on that stage while he sang that song..... A great talent all by herself too.

  • God bless George Jones and Country Music and the Roots of it all.

  • Elvis tried to sing this without much success.

  • @cf1934 I like both versions, I think Jones is the greatest singer ever, and Elvis the greatest entertainer ever, just my opinion, but I encourage people to listen to both. Elvis' version is more of a slow R&B/bluesy version. Love both of em :)

  • Hear hear.

  • 3 chords and the truth.......what else is there to say

  • great song, sung from the heart, real music

  • Great song by a great country artist. Grew up listening to him when I was young but did not appreciate his music til much later. My parents had his albums. I had Jimmy Buffett and Bruce Springsteen, but found they all sung about life and the real world. My parents are both deceased so hearing this brings mixed emotions. Love the song but brings a sadness. Maybe that's what we all love about him. Classic country voice. (BTW, James Taylor does a terrific cover of this.)

  • GEORGE JONES!!!!!! Any Questions??

  • Us men have our ways of saying it.... Mr Jones does it very well, ladies I hope you hear it

  • What a sad world this would be if God didn't send Jones down to make us happy and tell us how things worked.

  • Nothing quite like George Jones, he bring's a tear to my eye everytime I listen to him,

remembering the good times with my dear day who I lost 8 years ago.

  • George Jones is awesome

  • Great post. Love that guy. On the subject of Canada and the US, I think that there is a certain amount of competitiveness between the two, but really we're just like scrapping brothers. Or at the very least cousins. Not only do we share the same continent, but we are free to move back and forth, share common traditions, music, etc. Love you all.

  • beautiful....................

  • We love you George.

  • Great song, tugs at the heart strings

  • @tricker1957 that's why they call them tear jerkers.

  • they don't make country music like this anymore you will alwaysbe the greatest GJ

  • @lakeland666 I agree!

  • @lakeland666 they really dont make music like this anymore.

  • @lakeland666 George dos not sing he breathes life to the music my mame is Jimmy Dee and I live in Germany a wee scotsman take it easy ma guid man

  • @lakeland666 Yes they do, there just not welcome in nashville... :(

  • @lakeland666 you are 100% correct on that statement: They most definitely do not make country music like this anymore. All we hear on the radio now-a-days is pop music. I find very little heart in true country music on todays radio. Not saying it's not there - but there is so much re-manufactured pop music claiming to be country that just doesn't "cut the mustard" anymore.

  • George And The Hag are THE BEST EVER

  • "she thinks I still care." Are there 5 greater words ever sang?

  • Yes there are actually. He stopped loving her today. :)

  • Here in PA we call him George Jones

  • come to canada we still know who the possum is

  • Come to Canada we know who the possum is

  • I got the great oportunity work set up for the Possum at the Capital Music Hall in Wheeling West Virginia for several years in a row, and at every show there was always some people from Canada. I was present in Franklin, TN for "Fans at the Farm" in 2004 and there were a bunch of people from Canada there. I salute you, you Canadians really know what good music is!

  • @bagsfan34 I am in Calif. and we say the *ole Possum* = George Jones.

Then again my mama was from Texas and daddy was from Ark.

I think he is one of those cool guys no matter his age!

  • i loved this song in the movie "swingers" with vince vaughn

  • ;0) you betcha yup

  • My mother remembers George running around Kountze and Saratoga, Texas barefoot when he was a kid. She tells some stories about him back then!!
