  • well done to the pirates. they are doing what the somali government failed o do, as well as EU AU UN & US. the world ha neglected somalia, and too advantage of their waters. somali has been having 18 years of civil. to add that, the international ships dumoing waste and fishing ilegaly. countries like america should be ashmed of themselves for dumping wast in foriegn countries.

  • Piracy is wrong just as much dumping toxic waste on the Somali coast and looting Somali marine resources is. But Somalis have to safeguard their future resources.

Somalia, wake up and get your act together !

  • The world should be concerned of the illegal toxic and nuclear waste dumping in the Somali coast. There was and still is illegal fishing in the Somali coast.

  • I would simply sink any seized ship that's been taken into port, along with some 4 other ships of similar size in the same port. That would stop the port from accepting pirated vessels and keep pirates where they are vulnerable to counter-boarding.

Examples from the 15th through 19th centuries, from the English privateers of St. Kitts to the Muslim pirates of the Barbary coasts, has taught us only force works with pirates.

And, of course, hanging from yardarms!!

  • give us the ransom!

  • Submarines... pirates will never see them coming. Aircraft Carriers as well for quick deployment to distress signals. Not perfect, but might be effective. Best option might be from orbit; but that's a scary thought.

  • somalis have a right to demand randsom off somali shores.

  • The good thing coming out of this for Somalis is getting attention from the rest of the world, because Somalia was ignored for 2 decades by UN so now this will give them attention.

  • Horseshit, they're seizing ships in international waters and ships engaged in lawful transit. The only rights they have would be the right to board for inspection any ships transiting their waters and stop illegal fishing. What they're doing now is simple outright piracy, and is traditionally punished with a neck stretching, though today I suppose bullets are cheaper than rope.

If I had the bucks I'd take a Q-Ship out there.

  • Lawful to who?

Law only applies in one country.

People are a product of their environment.

Trust me, if you were a Somalian, living on the coast, and illegal fishing vessels fish from your waters, and take all your stock, and you have no way to earn a living anymore what are you going to do?

Just let your friends and family die in poverty?

    No.

These people do this because they have to not because they are bored.

    Westerners are so selfish.

  • NO they dont, what right to they have to hijack boats...

  • well done SOMALIA
