  • Who the hell keeps coughing?!

  • that conductor looked like he was on some sort of amphetamine

  • There is great beauty in Stravinsky's interpretation of primal instinct, violence, and asymmetry. I would like to see more choreographers find solutions to the elements of beauty in Le Sacre, rather than translating the awkward, ancient nature of the score so literally. :) <3

  • It was incredibly radical at the time it was written though.

Still, funny that this provoked people to riot.

But then again I suppose the French do love a bit of grève.

  • reminds me of psycho......

  • Disney?

  • well fantasia incorperated this song into it but this is not in anyway Disney you dumb shit sucking, father fucking, cock licking, chode eating, faggot fucking turd

  • :( cmon now. We didnt all grow up listening to classical music.

  • 1:33 Reminds me of One Winged Angel!!

  • Those idiots in the background almost ruined it for me, lol. The imagery of a girl dancing herself to death in the circle of elders is interesting though, but I don't know.. As important and genius as this song allegedly is, it doesn't really phase my untrained ears. Or perhaps that's just because music has become more radical in general, and this piece is mostly significant in context of the time it was composed. In which case, it has my respect, but again I'm not really in awe or anything.

  • The piece was written as a ballet. Those "idiots in the background" are supposed to be there. And yes at this point this isnt terribly radical, but it is still incredible music.

  • yeah, LORDTHUNDERCOCK doesn't seem to know much about this piece or its history.

  • ...but he gets awesome points for the name.

  • u r a dumb tard

  • I like th manifestation of true talent.. not odern art and or dance..wgich is crap

  • You obviously think correct spelling is crap also

  • As always, Porat shows us that the individual body is a temporal fixation of atoms, and the mind a temporal arrest of spiritual powers, which in their released state compose the currents of matter and power in the world of spring. In part, this is a self-limiting notion: the consciousness easily becomes a jail, or a paradise, due to the unavoidable limitations of inheritance. A man can't be an *engineer* and a poet.

  • I know most of you won't understand that, but seriously, this is insane. Stravinsky was a bit out of his mind when he wrote it

  • Totally agreed. Igor was a genius no doubt about it. Still sounds as wild and mysterious even today. Hollywood composers have raped the hell outta Mr. Stravinsky's achievements.

  • whoa. it does should a little demonic.

  • I thought he was reli conducting very well... thn started to wonder whter he is alright.... lol... still it was good.... i think it wud have been gr8 for the audience if he faced them... lol

  • Oh my gosh XD watching the conducter makes me wanna be a conductor, jumping around the stage like that 8D

  • I actually thought he did great conducting then wtf happened? Lol

  • XD I have the same question hahaha

  • Comment removed

  • agreed lol

  • R.I.P. Stegosaurus. :-(

  • I love the song, but what the hell is the dancing in the background all about? Like, seriously, I've spent this entire time trying to figure out what it could possibly symbolize and I've got nothing.

  • well i think stravinsky wrote this piece with the image of a group of elders seated in a circle, watching a young girl dance herself to death. They were sacrificing her to the god of spring. i guess that's why the dance seems so demonic.

  • THat might explain why his premiere of it caused a riot...

  • is he getting electrocuted??

  • no he feels the music

  • hehe i was joking

i only wish i cud let music into my soul as such

  • What a pity. The great performance was offset by the atrocious dancing.

  • well it is great to see in that ..it sucks.. and makes for interesting viewing..like watching a car crash

  • then what do you like?

  • the dancing looks like insane asylum patients

  • I know. Isn't it great?

  • at least it wasn't overly dramatic

  • im a bit fan of the conductors moves at the end though

  • dont like the dancinng on stage.

its too artyfarty and distracting from the epic piece.

  • WHAT A GOOD RECORDING

  • Ragazzi, che sudata!

  • serieus, dit kan niet serieus zijn, die dirigent :o

  • wow! un director que se introduce enla danza!

  • Bold and audacious! Stravinsky is so harsh and I love it!!

  • WOW.

  • WAIT!!! I dont get it!!! Whats happening????

  • the conductor left the baton on the podium

  • where did the conductor's baton go?!

  • Honestly, it really wasnt Stravinsky's music that caused the riot, but rather Nijinsky's chereography;

Im a big fan of stravinsky, and i think his music is AWESOMEE!! <3

    love this.

  • Actually, it was the music more so because it was so out of the ordinary. This music is for a ballet yet It really doesn't sound like it. He made odd choices such as using a bassoon to play nearly out of its range. Stravinsky broke the barriers of music with very odd harmonies and harshness. The choreography did help cause the riot but it wasn't the ONLY reason why the riot occured. And yes I believe Stravinky was an AWESOME composer but I'm not sure if the audience back then agreed.

  • so damn good. Hard to believe this was written by a mortal human.

  • that's so stupid...Pupil always know how to hypercriticize classical peaces. This is senseless

  • I appreciate the musical movement he essentially started and I can understand how this piece is important to music history. I also can see how it would evoke feelings to tick people off to start a riot, however I personally am not a fan. I appreciate pieces that are less... harsh.

*I do like the fact that I envision the Lion King scene where the stampede kills his daddy though... so sad =(

  • hey do u guys know if this is the peice that was played in france that caused a riot?!!? my teacher said that by then end the peice ppl were beating up each other..i dunno if its this one though

  • Yes, this piece was the cause of a riot amongst the Parisians of the day (1913), and thus was the center of much controversy at the times. In effect, it wasn't the music, but rather the dancing that really caused the riot. Or, in layman's terms: Paris-people no likey funky dancing. Happy?

  • Yeah, (I was at music class today and we were having this song.

  • This is chaos translated to music. Amazing.

  • YES YES YES. Tear down that wall!!! When watching Boulez' equestrian Sacre with my six year old, he commented that the conductor should be riding on the horses as well. I thought, WOW, maybe he's right. Then I see this! Cool!

  • 1:33...far better than heavy metal...

  • Energetic!!! Excellent!

  • I keep imagining Stravinsky's music being played by a metal band...he was WAY ahead of his time.

  • Go listen to Tool. Carefully.

  • yeah or the dillinger esacpe plan

  • @VladimirSkaletsky i would agree. dillinger escape plan?

  • @VladimirSkaletsky

    Dillinger Escape Plan! \m/ \m/

  • Ha sido de las mejores cosas que he visto.

  • Fascinating interpretation. I would have liked to have seen more of the choreography.

  • what is this part?

  • The last part of "Mystic Circles of the Young Girls," "The Glorification of the Chosen One," and the beginning chord for "Evocation of the Ancestors."

  • it is one of the most powerful pieces of music ever written...and its fantastic.

  • oh god lol the conductor

  • the conductor is wildin out

  • I love the conductor! haha

  • Atonal my foot...

  • It's not atonal because it puts hierarchy between the notes. We can feel that. And also it's not based in any series.

  • In all honesty... how is possible to conduct to this song?

  • no its not atonal, it uses to much harmonies for that , but it is full of expression and therefore a very notable and great piece of work , i can imagine people were really fuckin surprised to hear this in 1913 :P lol

  • Huge riot broke out. ... It's almost as if he unknowingly created Metal.

  • rofl yeah dude. they were hardcore dancin' to this shit.

    Stravinsky= Original hxc

  • Woah, I love the tempo he takes that at! It sounds really good at that faster tempo. His movements are so crazy too. At first I didn't read that he was taking part in the dance, so I thought he had just gone mad partway through the recording. Great upload!

  • I mean: This IS not atonal. This IS really nota atonal at all...

  • This not atonal. This really not atonal at all. It's politonal but far from being atonal.

  • the first time this was performed the crowd broke down the building and stared a riot

  • great piece of music! not a fan but its great. every shitty film composer owes a thank you for letting them rip this shit off!!

  • That's chaos, that's life

  • scary

  • hahaha. That's unbelievably ignorant. This is probably the greatest and most important composition of the 20th century.

  • ARE YOU CRAZY!!!!! Beethoven was great with the use of the whole orchestra and Vivaldi was great with string, but Stranvinsky was the genius of percussion and multi-tempo and atonality, its wasn't meant to be beautiful and ethereal, it was me to be bloody, earthly and HUMAN, but if you dont like it, then i guess something's wrong with you.... no just kidding, tell me what's your favorite piece

  • It is considered among the top 5 most important compositions in musical history. To say its horrible would include some serious denial.

  • Good or bad is a matter of opinon, just because the masses say it's in the top 5 compositions of all time dosen't mean someone HAS to like it. By that logic I guess everyone should love kanye west cause he sold 6 million copies of his new CD. Denial of what? His opinon?

  • Not top 5, the 5 most important. And I'm not in denial of his opinion, what made you think that?

  • wow's right!!

this is the best i've heard this played.

    very tight, great orchestra.

  • this music is so awesome i love the rite of spring but it terrifies me!!! lol

  • It's funny how conductors emote so wonderously they could kill someone.

  • Belgallego . ''no answer comes from the thrown''... Only if you talk in english...

But then... whom among them would know anything about ''Roni Porat''? Lol

    Foi uma condução curiosa...?

    Saudações

    Salut

  • how does the ball comedanudsn physics?

  • aha

  • Indeed.

  • wow...
