There is a spectacular video of Karla and Meat performing this song live at Rockpalast in Germany June of 1978. It's on the non-USA version of the DVD "Meat Loaf, Bat out of Hell, the Original Tour." You have to buy it from Amazon.com.uk or other non-USA source.
Ellen Foley had the better voice for sure...Paradise would never be the same without her. Karla had a good voice too...and possibly a better stage act
@herefordmsv It's a personal preferance, but I liked Karla better. I thouhg her voice was, and is better. Nothing against Ellen, she had a powerful voice too, I just liked Karla better.
The photo is intriguing. In 1977 Meat was 30; Ellen Foley was 26. In the photo Meat looks 10-12 or more years younger. Ellen looks 20 or more years older.
I searched Google images. Found another shot from a different aspect. Ellen and Meat with the Toyota placard in back. 1985. Ann Clifford is the photographer. Looks more like Meat. Looks more like Ellen.
When Karla DeVito did the original Pre-Broadway production of Ellie Greenwich's LEADER OF THE PACK at the Bottom Line in NYC, one of the critics said her River Deep Mountain High was a credit to her race.
That photo is definitely NOT Karla. But that's her voice! LOVE HER!
Reply to MSgirl25. Karla sang on tour. In the most popular video of Paradise, Karla and Meat are lip-syncing to the Ellen Foley/Meat Loaf vocals on the album. It was one of four videos shot on the same afternoon to promote the album. Videos of Karla and Meat singing Paradise live at the Old Grey Whistle Test and at Rockpalast are really terrific. Karla has a great voice.

The audio is terrific. The photo doesn't look much like either Meat Loaf or Ellen Foley.
