  • I WANT THE OLD VW BUS BACK!

  • Why not produce some more low tech micro buses everyone likes?

  • yeah the term Bulli is inappropriate for its time

  • kleiner als der "Alte" ist ja ok, aber so klein ?

  • future hippies.....get ready

  • I wish this was a high density hybrid with 186 miles per gallon (most people don't have means to charge cars every night!), that would be AWESOME. I like ipad concept too, good way to integrate battery tech along with rice multimedia, gps, 4G technology, all in one.

  • Just do it VW just do it!!!!!

  • It looks super tiny, they should call it the Nano-Bus. For my money, the 1962 VW Microbus with the porthole windows and the green & white colors was the best.

  • I preferred the 2001 Geneva Microbus concept, This is way too small to be the successor to the Microbus, Vanagon, Eurovan or even the Routan. Instead this looks more like something to compete with a Honda Fit or Nissan Cube. I wish VW would give us a product that would fill the void the Eurovan left in the market and the place in our heart left by the Microbus. Maybe the solution is to bring their California van to the US or to release the concept from 2001. All I know is we need a real VW van.

  • Volkswagen needs to stop teasing us with things like this. Come on VW you always done your best with vehicles with charm and personality. VW vans have been boring for several decades now. It's time to bring back a looking Microbus. Is this it? I hope so.

  • WATHC AND LEARN COCKSUCKER

  • @VolkswagenBulli watch what? learn what? : )

  • I want it. :(

  • i will hate VW forever if they dont make this.

  • nice. but...it is a niche, cute thing. The electric aspect is fantastic. I think 180 miles range is fine, people can camp and plug in just fine. I would stay places in between jonts to not have to release extra carbon in the air. But this thing is no VW camper. Where is the genius interior? Stove, cabinets, pop top, table, bed? All it has is a joke of a bed.

  • If Volkswagen could stretch the Bulli a little longer and make it an eight seater it would be much better, then it would be like the Volkswagen Kombi's with two seats in front, three seats in the middle and tree seats at the back, then it would be extremely spacious.

  • And also the Bulli should be a little bigger length wise. If instead of the bus just being white and red, it would be cool if you could purchase it in a range of different colours both interior and exterior to the bus. Another thing is that since it's a camper, it should be a 4x4, as it would increase the want and need reasons to buy one, honestly this will be a good investment, as you will not need to sell it since you can use it for a very long time. Amazing machine engineering, great job!!!!!

  • There are many great qualities to this Volkswagen Bulli, since the world is getting more Eco-friendly, the reason that they haven't unleashed this car to the market is maybe because they need to find recyclable materials for the interior and exterior, the only draw-back of this vehicle is that if all the buses use Apple iPads because then if people don't have Apple iPads they will need to go and buy them which would be hard for some families, and also the Bulli should be a little bigger length..

  • Since the Bulli is a camper bus, it can be very useful when camping or going on long distance trips and need a place to rest, all you need to do is pull down the seats and it makes a very comfortable mattress, all you need is some bedding and you're set for the road. There are many great qualities to this Volkswagen Bulli, since the world is getting more Eco-friendly, the reason that they haven't unleashed this car to the market is maybe because they need to find recyclable materials for the....

  • Amazing, truly amazing how cars or machines can be so beautiful, I actually hope that this concept will go through into full production worldwide, and since it is a Volkswagen, it has a high re-sale value, is very affordable and worth the money you spend, and since it can be controlled through the Apple iPad 1 & 2 there should be less hassle with buying a GPS or placing t.v. screens in your vehicle to entertain the kids with. Since the Bulli is a camper bus,......................................

  • guys you want the one from the 2001 auto shows thats a bus not this little thing

  • Who wants this to be released and become a production car ?¿?¿?¿?¿

  • I just want the wheels...

  • Ugh. Needs a flat front with exposed bumper. Get rid of the Acura headlights and bring back those adorable circular ones. Bring the two-tone paint job to a nice V point in the front of the bus. Enlarge the VW symbol. An Apple Ipad in the interior? No thanks. Why do these car makers insist on upgrading these 'retro' cars with today's crappy interiors. Keep it simple, plain and classic. 186 mile range? Freaking terrible. Let me guess, you can't fix the car yourself either? This looks TERRIBLE!

  • @KJVIDS82 It's top speed is like 89 mph and it's range is 186 miles and it's completely electric powered. To be honest that doesn't sound too bad.

  • Comment removed

  • @KJVIDS82 If old car interiors were better, they would still make them today. This is exactly how a modern Microbus should look: it retains enough of the original's spirit while looking fresh and modern. If you want "simple, plain and classic," go buy an original.

  • Not liking the new look. It looks more like of a overgrown Scion XB.

  • Westfalia, please.

  • iVE GOT TO HAVE THIS BUS!!!!!

  • only range of 180 miles? i will never get to drive this from LA to San Francisco

  • Yes!!!!!! The perfect future car for us hippies!!! I love my bug, but this car has so much more room! : )

  • I'd buy one. 186 mile range! Build it in Germany or the US and it's pure genius.

"FOR ONCE VW, put your money where your mouth is!"

  • i will be so disappointed in Volkswagen if they make this. this looks nothing like the original bus. it looks more like a scion than a Volkswagen.

  • @jordonbf they need to add a little beetle styling to it

  • @1alex1m i dont think they need to add a little beetle styling to it but i think that they need to stay true to the bus style. you can see in the video that it doesnt have the qualities that the old bus had. this is a 4 door and just a back seet. the bus was know for the back. the room that it had in the back. this just looks like a mini minivan with the vw bus name.

  • pfffff rien ne sera jamais comme avant

  • Build it in the USA

  • I'll take one no problem...

  • looks like a lunar vehicle or an overfed golf cart on steroids, not a bus. really.. it's not a bus.

  • It's really, really ugly.

  • Build it, and put it in production. NAO!

  • It should look MUCH MORE LIKE THE ORIGINAL!!!!!!

Built it but change the look!

  • I fucking want this car. NOW.

I don't care that I have a brand new golf.

  • I like the 2001 concept version better than this one today

  • still looks like a bus if you dont think so your an idiot its just modern you cant expect headlamps or a bulky ass steel body unless you actually buy a 60's model how many cars look like therye 1960's predecessors? umm none! so dont talk shit i hate vans or van type vehicles but this is live! id drive this its hella nice!

  • the only resemblence to the original is the hood ornament ,,

  • just the fact its electric makes me want it

  • I want one but make it more like the original

  • The proportions appear to be almost exactly like that of a first generation Scion xB (not a bad thing) but this is a gorgeous car. Excited to see the production version.

  • It needs round headlights. And the front needs to be flatter.

  • @robotmonkey73 exactly

  • The shag van now comes with an iPad!

  • 0:09 someones hat is jumping on that trampoline :P

  • I was waiting for a new VW Bus but this vehicles BLOWS!!!!

  • No round headlights, odd shape - this is a letdown, VW. Honestly, I'd feel embarassed in this thing. These are the kindest words I can muster.

  • this car is awful they ruined the 1950-1960 volkswagon bus.

  • bellissima :)

  • i love vdubs but what were they thinking

they allready make the new bays so why bother making a new nissan cube

  • I bet that you can't resist visiting my channel ;-p

  • gaaaaaaaaaaaaaay

  • ironman transform into a car, me gusta

  • ala yo lo kiero regalenmelo :D esta bien super chilo de perdes denme el concep :P

  • its a scion xb

  • I bet that you can't resist visiting my channel ;-p

  • Why would you buy this when you could just get a top end 60's bus for a fraction of the price and not look like a cunt.

  • @ChArLiE9321

Because you will look like a cheap hippy twat in a rusty 60's bus with no ipad socket...........

  • the front protrudes too far out as compared to the microbus.

  • @yfm88

Yeah, it looses all the style without the flat front end... Damn the safety standards!

  • need one now!!!!!!! AHHHG it looks awesome

  • @Viralpigmonster looks awesome, if you like Scion xB or Honda Element, VW Bus deserves to be so much more than this!!!

  • @ALFJP yes i like the scion xb been wantin one for a while pre 08? but i do appreciate the bus i have a camper 64 and high hinge 59 love them to death but theyre not gonna make another one plus the scion doesnt have a vw badge

  • Ugly.

  • Ugly

  • If the engine was put back in the rear of the vehicle and the driver and passenger sat up higher and pushed up further over the front wheels then we can call it a microbus once again. If VW ever wants to get better sales in the U.S. they need to go back to basics again and perhaps that would make the Japenese car manufactures sweat it a little bit. Remember VW sales began to decline in the 70's because of emission controls but they've conquered that problem. Back to basics and lower prices!

  • Does that mean if you don't have an iPad your fucked or does it come with one.

  • shame, you just can't beat the original, i would much rather buy an old split screen camper and improve the interior

  • very simple?

  • I'm gonna Buy one and put Swastika's on it!!! =P lolz

  • LOL...the iPad 2 came out today so the one in the car is outdated already XD

  • lee iacocca claim that he invented the minivan....maybe in America he did. Volkswagen has been making minivans since the 1950. get your facts straight Lee!

  • Lava Lamps?

  • Now the hippies have a new van to stink up. Stinky hippies.

  • @TheSckeim where are the hippies?

  • @rubadub007 In the van.

  • This CAR, misses the loved aesthetics of the Microbus. Long road journeys with a your own mobile motel room. Freedom on wheels.

The only journey your going to have with this is to the grocery store and to pick up the kids. Hopefully, you have room for both the groceries and the kids and its fully charged up.

  • dont like it

  • It looks like a Chevy Astro Van.

  • kinda cute, kinda appealing maybe to those young hip modern mums, & kinda stupid with the ipad bullcrap & it looks nothing like original. I hope this one doesn't get made into mass production.

  • it looks similar to the scion xb in my opinion.

  • i want it lol

  • Funky-ass thetics...

  • But is the t1 not a beetle?

  • this is bullshit. it looks to much like an updated mini "soccer mom" van!!! they should've kept it real and designed the front flush. what a disappointment ;-( Come on VW. your loyal classic collectors of bugs and busses are thumbing this crap down.

  • @w4r7

There will never be another flat fronted microbus because modern pedestrian and passenger safety regulations won't allow for that shape. You need a soft and rounded front end grille with plenty of space for the IP and engine to deform if you get into an accident. In the old microbus, you pretty much steered the car with your scrotum and your knees were the only crash protection you had. You can't build cars like that anymore.

  • @Pezdetz666 point taken pez...very informative. but with that said, those bumpers still can be present and just run a deeper dashboard and extend the overhead to compensate said space, without that slanted windshield...thus a flush design. also, the front of headlights look more import tuner-esque than dub style...at least they should've considered the round headlights. i'm sure this bulli will have a following just as the scion xb does...that's what it pretty much resembles.

  • @w4r7 Nailed it on the HEAD!!!

  • @w4r7 Totally agree with you. This isn't an updated microbus at all. It doesn't look a thing like a microbus. VW is just using "microbus" and references to the old VW van as marketing hype. I used to have a 63 kombi and a 71 kombi. They were so big & so much fun to drive. This new VW is way too tiny to be a "VW van". And at least the new beetle looks like the old beetle.

  • love it

  • BULLI is the original nickname for the first bus, the T1. That nick originates from Austria and is short for BUs and LIeferwagen (Van). The original bus idea came from Dutch Ben Pon who drew a sketch in his notebook while visiting the VW factory in Wolfsburg in 1947.

A squarish box on top of the beetle's base.

In 1951 Mr. Pon became the first (and only) VW importer in The Netherlands and in fact the first dealer outside than Western Germany for VW ever.

  • Why is it so small? Or is this not the microbus concept?

  • haha funny how theres an ipad as the controler so you would update the ipad each year LOL

  • @90Mrknowitall something even funnier is that the new iPad is supposed to be released tomorrow XD

  • @MeeTeeDee LOL autoFail

  • all thumbs up to this message so VW can put that piece of history into the books!

  • @adenis111 the 2001 concept is much better, im waiting this one out until they put a real bus out there.

  • Why not call it the bully bus

  • @lbryan250

"Bulli" is the German nickname for the Volkswagen Transporter (or Bus, Van, whatever you like to call it).

  • i want this!

  • so true vdub are getting abit of a reputation which is frustrating how they produce some awsome concepts but never deliver...the new passat is like the most boring car in the world but their concepts are always so interesting, Golf W12, this, bluesport roadster.

  • No chandelier?

  • AWESOME!!

  • looks awful !

  • I'm gonna Buy one and put peace signs on it!! :P lolz

  • @TheBob0416 I'll do the same, and then the 2000's hippie era comes out :D

  • @IanEduardoMeneses yay!!!

  • PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE MAKE THIS!! i HATE IMPORTS BUT I LOVE THIS!! sorry for the caps attack but it was necessary

  • Bulli?

    Awesome, lol

  • very nice!

  • That's great, but does it come with shaggy carpets?

  • @Lucky13Vinnie If it doesn't I'll just put some in there myself :P
