  • You can tell the game just hadn't developed enough at this point. I don't think Federer would lose a game in a 5 set match to either of these guys (in their primes obviously) with any racket. They're basically just half-volleying the ball back and forth. And their serves are like 85-90 mph, even though wooden rackets have basically no effect on serve speed.

  • Agree so much about the comment just below about lack of artistry. Nor do we hear on these old recordings any of the screams and wails today's overpriveleged and spoilt players indulge in with a few very noticeable exceptions. Bless you Ken and John. You gave so much pleasure at Wimbledon.

  • This is the kind of artistry that you just don't see anymore in the game of tennis. The touch, the variety, the imagination and the strategy with which these points were put together! I'd rather watch these re-runs than any live match today. Let's go back to wood rackets, slow things down a little and make tennis a game of skill again, and not just mindless brute power. BTW: Did John Newcombe have the best second serve of all time, or what?!

  • @assindiastignani lol, the wimbledon semi final is on but im actually watching this instead... hahaha... far better than watching nadal on the baseline

  • Seems like the players are not aware of the fact ,what it means to win Wimbledon.

You can see it on the handshake at the end.

  • great !

  • "mope-a -dope" by Ken Rosewall.
