For some reason.. Cats and dogs wind up at the automotive shop I work at.. So far I have saved 3 Kitty's and one dog.. Don't have much room for more.

Thank you for spreading the word. I enjoy my cat,who I adopted after he was left behind. Ozkuh has gotten quite large thanks to steady meals . I am carful I don't over do it. Dogs are loyal,and tend to be more home bodies,ideal for people who need close companionship.

I found my baby girl dog Prissy on Petfinder! All my pets are rescues with the exception of my 4 sugar gliders because I didn't know at the time there were rescue organizations for them as well. Not only is it awesome having a pet but it makes you feel good when you rescue one from a shelter. Go Petfinder!!!

I've always though that if you can see someones stomach from the top of their blouse, there's a bit too much cleavage. Just not very classy.

I got my dog from a shelter using petfinder about a year ago, she's awesome, and I found a stray cat a couple months ago and over 3 or 4 weeks I got it to trust me enough to come inside and let me hold it etc., so I gave it to my mom and it now has a happy home over there. Yay for adopting pets!

I adopted two dogs from another country, Curacao through a foundation. They were both found with their mother on the street. You could count their ribs.. so sad. But now they are so happy and look great! I only want rescued dogs, love my mutts;)

Great video, Jill!!! We only buy shelter dogs and have three. Did you know backyard breeders are the number one cause of pet over-population? Over half of these dogs are put into shelters and over half of them are euthanized a year. In '97 over 2 million animals were euthanized from just 1000 shelters. HORRIBLE.

Every dog I have every owned has been a mixed dog facing euthanization. I was raised in a family with purebred show dogs and I can tell you from personal experience, the love, intelligence and loyalty is the same weather they are "pure bred" or not! I love all dogs!

You don't buy the dogs online at Peffinder. You find a dog you want to adopt and they screen you and then you meet the dog in person. Petfinder is more of a "hub" for all shelters all over the country so they can post pics and stats on various dogs (and other animals) who needs homes. So instead of driving from shelter to shelter, you can search for your next pet from the comfort of your living room! Then meet & adopt!

The cat our family had when I was little was adopted and was with our family for 18 years until it died in 2007; the cat my parents now have is adopted as well and my grandmother has adopted about five or six (not exactly sure) cats in her lifetime...so, yeah, I'd say my whole family is quite into adopting pets... cats especially!
