Wow, you feel the same way I do about my art class. I'm only in high school, but I definitely know that my art class is a joke. I feel like I'm in the wrong place and nobody will help me improve either. The projects we do are ridiculous. At least I know I'm not the only one going through this. my art teacher tells us how she looks forward to work every single day, and if you hav a chance at finding a job that does that for you, then thats the best thing you can do for yourself!!!

good attitude about art school. definitely if your going to major in art, definitely go to an art college. I'm at RISD right now and I had the frustrations you have now in high school, and I get everything you seem to want now. the intense crits, teachers who are really going to push you, and you cant slack. I'm not saying go to RISD, though its a great school, but defintely if you feel strongly about a career in the arts you want to go to art school and get a BFA not a BA.

I was in college for Theatre, but got kicked out of that department b/c of my GPA (long story) so I then switched majors to humanities, which I don't care about. After three years I just can't stand it anymore. The only way I was happy was with theatre. I'm dropping out. I might have an AA degree, I might not. I want to try life MY way now. Point of my rant? I'm from the UK, and we leave high school at 16, go to college from 16-18, then Uni after that. I think it works differently in America, like, college & uni mean different things, but i've never been sure.
College and University mean pretty much the same thing. College is more general, like: "Oh, Jim, he's going off to college in two months." Whereas University is the specific college you're going to: "Yeah, I'm attending the University of (blank)." Hope that helps.
then you can can go to either college or university. college is more like hands on stuff, and then university is like extreme school book stuff. so you can pick one, and both major in diffrent things
Kindergarten, Grade 1-12 (12-13 years) then we go to College/University. College is usually classified as a lower class university. And University is a college like Harvard, Cambridge, Yale, etc.

my art teacher tells us how she looks forward to work every single day, and if you hav a chance at finding a job that does that for you, then thats the best thing you can do for yourself!!!

hey man I think you should think the colege thing through some more because im pretty shure that its hard to get out of det and yah people are aloud and do make mistakes but if you think it through and know it is a mistake its worse on your part but it might be a good idea idk because im not you but i just hope you think it through some more. i think its a good idea. if you know what you want, go for it
right now i have to decide what classes i want to take for the ib, and my mum keeps saying i should take biology and design technology but then i cant do anything with art!
but i really like art, my parents just don't really know about it. and so i want to take film, and i think if i dont take any art class now and graduate without it, i'll never have the option of doing something with art later on..
im really stressed out :/

wow lol i agree. I know exactly what you mean except for me it is video game design and business ownership because i draw like a flipper child if you know what i mean and in my school they are setting me up for a six year highschool plan wtf is that.not even the person that gave me that knows what it means and if you think dumb child i make straight A's also teachers tell me nothing about how schedules it works all i know is that i go do work and go home that is it god I hate my school good luck on the artthough

not only is the snuggie the dumbest thing i have ever seen in a commercial but you could easily make it yourself...
1. fleece blanket
2. cut arm holes
3. sew fleece sleeves to arm holes

good attitude about art school. definitely if your going to major in art, definitely go to an art college. I'm at RISD right now and I had the frustrations you have now in high school, and I get everything you seem to want now. the intense crits, teachers who are really going to push you, and you cant slack. I'm not saying go to RISD, though its a great school, but defintely if you feel strongly about a career in the arts you want to go to art school and get a BFA not a BA.

Hun, I think you know what you're talking about. Follow your heart. I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I was in college for Theatre, but got kicked out of that department b/c of my GPA (long story) so I then switched majors to humanities, which I don't care about. After three years I just can't stand it anymore. The only way I was happy was with theatre. I'm dropping out. I might have an AA degree, I might not. I want to try life MY way now. Point of my rant? Good luck and you're not alone!

I'm from the UK, and we leave high school at 16, go to college from 16-18, then Uni after that. I think it works differently in America, like, college & uni mean different things, but i've never been sure.
Anyone fancy explaining it to me?? :)

College and University mean pretty much the same thing. College is more general, like: "Oh, Jim, he's going off to college in two months." Whereas University is the specific college you're going to: "Yeah, I'm attending the University of (blank)." Hope that helps.

high school is grade 9 to 12 (age 14 to 18)
then you can can go to either college or university. college is more like hands on stuff, and then university is like extreme school book stuff. so you can pick one, and both major in diffrent things

Here's what we do in America:
College and University are the same.
We have:
Kindergarten, Grade 1-12 (12-13 years) then we go to College/University. College is usually classified as a lower class university. And University is a college like Harvard, Cambridge, Yale, etc.
So there you go.
