Personally I think Catherine is just a figment from their minds. Formed by the curse they're talking about. I mean, Katherine and Catherine have never met so it's entirely possible that Catherine doesn't really exist and the curse is messing with both of their heads. That's just my impression.

There is something very wrong with Catherine and it bothers me endlessly. She's either in their heads or is something ... else. She just seems too perfect at first, then almost omnipotent, then scary as hell.
