Hey ~ been lookin' through tons of 'guitar solo' vids. Most of 'em are snore fests. This one here, Blues from the Pulpit, has to be heavenly sent. I could listed to this stuff all day. Looked at some of the earlier metal stuff you did and would've eaten it up back in the days. It still sounds ok, kinda over the top but the solos are nice, almost sound improvised. Guess I'm mellowing out in my 'elder' years. Do you play acoustic or classical guitar too? Anyhow you're my 'new' guitar hero.
For liking my music I appreciate it ,I don't play much acoustic but I do like some mellow music and basically I like anything done with heart and feeling
come play at the freewill baptist church in louisa kentucky .--the lord will bless both you and us . guys or girls can't help but feel the power in those strings and the way you bend them amen brother .
if you like slde blues try johnny winter. and if you like the real old blues try robert johnson or lightning hopkins, or anyone else from that era, you'll find them.
Jack, I don't care for your metal stuff, but I LOVE this song, and it is by far my favorite song by you.
You have a great sound, and this comes from a Fender Strat lover like myself, and in this song you demonstrate feelings that are beautiful and a great taste. Not sure you recognized who I am, but if you watch my videos, you'll see. I'm the Italian guitarist with the long reddish/light brown hair, who plays Fenders....anyways, great job on this song!
Very nice and very soulful playing from a true master of the axe. The sound was a little bit bright and harsh on the lead pickup, but that might be cheap speakers on my end.
I'm not sure what amp(s) you are using, but I bet you would love the Carvin Legacy amps if you have not checked them out yet.
Whatever happened to just a guitar, a lead, and an amp? His sound has more processing done to it than the meat in a McNugget! I'd love to hear him play just through a cranked 65 Twin Reverb.
Yeah man roy buchanan had the most amazing tones and effects just with his hands... he just used a tele > lead > Fender Vibrolux.. later in the 80's had a Boss Delay... but still lol! gotta miss that

Jack, Thank you for playing with so much feeling in the church that night. Your songs were beautiful, the acoustics were just right it, and it came together with a feeling of peace and joy. And we all loved your interpretation of "Amazing Grace".
This guy is good. May be a little like Robben Ford but Robben is wicked on blues. Has real feeling and he'll never go medal. Why? Medel players play to hear the other guys say, woow dude did you hear that? Blues players play for the women and to hear them say,Woow dude I could feel that. It's a manly thing. Oh and strats? Hendrix/SRV! Now what?
I think you made some great points especially about metal players and their desire to have other guys be impressed by some technical riffing but I know a lot of blues guys that do the same thing ,Most male musicians will say in interviews that they started in music to get female attention or to put it bluntly to get laid! But that said after a while if you stick with it you discover the magic of music and songwriting and it goes way beyong impressing chicks or guys, Peace,Jack Starr
thanks for the good words ,my main strat is a 1983 american standard with a seymour duncan hot rails in the lead, and a lace sensor in the bridge and a seymour duncan antiquities in the middle as far as the amp I used a crate gfx212 on the middle gain setting ,I also have a fender evil twin which I will start using more but for now the crate is jusst easier to deal with ,tHANKS jACK
never herd of robin ford ? oh my, better do some research. He combines modern jazz with blues, probably 80% blues and 20% jazz. I love your playing on this video.
Thanks for the compliment ,truth be told I don't know too much about Robin Ford and I'm sure he know even less about ,the reason we may have some similarites is probably our age and the music that we both were exposed to when we started playing ,if you are interested I put out an instrumental album called "A Minor Disturbance"in 1990 I am due for another one soon!! Jack
SO this is Jack Starr? I had always meant to try one or two of his records but just never got around to it. I got a couple of the early Virgin Steele things and didn't care for them at all. This is smokin' stuff and he has some presence up there. Excellent. Thanks for posting this.
I think Jack used to be in the metal band called Virgin Steele. He did a few albums with members from that great 80s metal band Riot. Thanx for the post.
