I'm trying to run a Les Paul Studio through a pedal board (analog pedals: Boss MD2 dist, Boss Delay and Boss Chorus) and then on to the R16, however the guitar signal sounds like crap, harsh and digitally processed. I'm a noob at recording. I hope I am making some sort of mistake and that it is possible to get a decent guitar sound this way... any ideas?
@cracknbeatzz Thanks for your reply. I don't have the cash to invest in more expensive equipment, so in my case I will have to make do with the R16 and whatever DAW software I can get my hands on.
@jdiuurdfsds Thank you. That is what I suspected. I have bought some inexpensive Shure clones from Thomann (I realize they won't sound as good but I just want to play around now, may invest in the real deal later) and will experiment. I also bought a tube preamp so I will test running through that and then into the Zoom as well. See what works best.
@meadish Experiment finding a good mic position (using a good headphone and listen carefully); it makes a huge difference! Check my Youtube Channel for some guitar-recording demos.
I'm considering getting this unit for recording... Would it be good for recording amps etc.? I'm in a metal band and just thought it would be fun to record some stuff at home..
Very Cool L J.. Thank you! Any chance you can show us how to apply or use a simple effect or two? Seems to be the only thing that is a little tricky so far.
@biblelover777 if your talking about cubase i dont know it comes with i cheap copy and i dont use cubase but other than that its just drivers so as many as you want
Good demonstation. I think I'll be buying one soon :) I have a Roland BR900CD 8-track and I need something that's a little more than 8 LOL Is there a drum machine on this thing, and if so, how is it? I'm looking for a recorder with a much better drum machine than the BR900 (no, I don't want to get a separate drum machine! lol)
for a vid on sound recording the sound is shit or is it just me being a pain???? I just dont get it!! the vid aint even white balanced!!! the unit looks yellow.
Enough complaining I got one vital question DOES THIS MACHINE SUPPORT * TRACK 48Khz recording???? I need this facility in a mobile device as I work in film primarly
Please clarify this issue for me SOMEBODY ANYBODY????
this video wasnt meant for great sound i just opened it out of the box and as far as video quality it was a very cheap camera i just wanted to see how quick i could have it up and running so if your here to dis dont watch it ya dig
Sorry again my comment about the video quality and sound. I learned some vital info on the piece of kit and actually ordered one yesterday. thanks to your video amongst others helped me make the decision..
Thanks and Sorry again I didn't mean to cause offence.
@FlorryMc yea, you're being being a PITA LOL. This video is not about FILM. It's about a demo on the Zoom R16, and cracknbeatzz did a good job with the demo :) I gotta admit, though, that the camera that he used here does really suck LOL I have a Kodak Zi8 and I could've done a MUCH better job on it without even trying ;-)
My zoom R16 is in the post. I'm really looking forward to it arriving. In hindsight my comment about the quality of video was OTT however for a demo on sound equipment the audio should have been better. The vid did help me make my final decision so it served it's purpose. And a big THANK YOU TO @cracknbeatzz for a very informative and helpful video. I still think the audio should have been better.
Thanks again and sorry for any offense I may have caused.
I was astonished how ergonomic the handling is - almost like a conventional tape recorder. Times have changed for homerecording enthusiasts, really. At the price its without competitors, yet.
i have one of these for sale brand new ill sell it for 200 dollars.hit me up

@meadish to tell you the truth I run through amplitube and guitar rig I havent done much on the r16 standalone
its mainly a audio interface/controll surface for me. I have ordered a new board anyway as this is for quick projects basically expensive scratch pad
