How the heck do you have time to learn about everything? He knows about everything it seems like, and somehow went through medical school. I'm getting a degree in cell biology and after school, working out, friends and girlfriend I have no time. I spent this last quarter learning about Iran-US relations, North Korea, WW2 and a few other things and now I have no friends!
He hasn't changed his positions in so many years and he knows his history and knows that history repeats itself over and over again. He uses historical facts and evidence to support his position on issues.
The only issue that I know that he changed is the Death Penalty.
Here's the only question I have: He often speaks of facts like the Iran 1953 CIA coup and the fact that we helped saddam at one point as well as help Osama at another. Do other republicans simply rationalize why we do those things or do they not know about it? On my favorites I've got a debate question for the republicans, and all down the line it's like DUDE, how can you say this stuff given all the crap weve done to Iran the past 60 years? Then finally comes Paul with his voice of reason.
"You know, over the years, I've held pretty rigid all my beliefs, but I've changed my opinion about the death penalty. For federal purposes, I no longer believe in the death penalty. I believe it has been issued unjustly. If you're rich, you get away with it; if you're poor and you're from the inner city, you're more likely to be prosecuted and convicted.
Today, with the DNA evidence, there have been too many mistakes. So I am now opposed to the federal death penalty."
Cheers! (btw, I wasn't just having ago - I was genuinly curious about what his new and old positions were, cuz based on what I know about him he could have started up and then finished of either way)
If you see a guy on the street, that could look like, he might be a bad person. I hope you don't decide, to beat the crap out of him, just to be on the safe side?.
Thats what preemptive wars mean. Attacking people that has done you no harm, just because maybe they will in the future.
Thats what Ron is against. Not in the rare cases, where it has been justified. Therefore he voted to pursue, the responsible for 11. September. But not for going into Iraq.
MrCropper you have to understand. That the people who want to harm us, want to harm us because we think we can police the world. So just killing off the people who don't like us, only makes more enemies.
Although I agree with you in principle kjakobsen and yosmikey, I believe that in this case the war was not preemptive. It was in response to the terrorist attacks in the U.S. What caused it to appear preemptive was our means of going about it; we invaded a country in the region to gain a military and political stronghold as opposed to straight out going into a conflict in a place where no one likes us. Becuase of the circumstances, I would argue that this is still justified.
Ron I like most of what you believe, BUT Water~Boarding IS NOT Torture. I wish get that right and stop letting this lie go on. Pulling out finger nails or cutting off body parts or burning skin for example is torture.
Any one of us would waterboard amurdering terrorist and even worse if it meant saving our family.
so tying a person to a table, covering their face with a wet towel, shoving a sock in their mouth, plugging their nose and pouring water down their throats into their lungs until they drown, then resuscitating them to ask a couple of questions (Repeatedly) isn't torture?
REALLY?
I'd rather lose my fingernails to some pliers thanks.
do that to me a couple of times and i'll say anything you want.
BTW: waterboarding is NOT one drop at a time... that's "chinese water torture" COMPLETELY UNRELATED.
look it up on youtube a guy for vanity fair magazine did it and a radio host did it. they both said it was torture and wanted it to stop very fast. i rather get my finger nails torn off than waterboarding.
We need torture and renditions to be totally illegal, when somebody commits a terrorist act or is accused of it they should be arrested publicly by cops like regular people, not whisked away in a secret prison!
We should imprison the officers that did this, and discharge the servicemen that took part. I don't need to be protected by torturers, I equate them with pedophiles.
Cheney could get elected President in 2012. If the New World Order Conspiracy does not take over every aspect of our daily lives soon, we are gonna have to put Cheney in there to start WW3. ;-)

Ron Paul is great...but does this look to anyone else like he is sitting in a chair in front of a green screen and this office background was added in later?
Well, the reason I said that was that the background looks really flat and also the lighting is different on Ron Paul than the background. The background seems to be brighter on the right while Ron Paul is brighter on the left.
we are angry about 3000 people being killed in twin towers, what about the millions killed by us in iraq not from 2003 but from the 80s? Also what about people other covert operations like taking down a democracy in Iran and many other countries. Of course going to war creates more terrorism because of casualties and other damage.

Ron Paul really doesn't understand the Muslim world. If you've ever lived in a Muslim country, you'd know why they're so anxious to blow themselves up - indoctrination. The Muslim world is largely a cult of ignorance. In Saudi Arabia and Iran you have to smuggle books in the country. A friend in the Airforce had to smuggle in D&D books by tearing the covers off and putting the pages in Arabic magazines. That's why there's terrorists. That's why it's called islamofascism. No read, no learn
If I was you'd provide a vast reading list to prove me otherwise. It's fun to try and reduce everything to a pithy rebuttal but that always fails to address the issues.
Ever been to Saudi Arabia? UAE? Kuwait? Iraq? Afghanistan? Thailand? When there is a clear cut rule of law that is established throughout the vast world it ceases to be a generalization.
You are talking about the Governments not the people... Governments make tyrant laws.. This is to be known regardless of Geographical location. And our blow back is the our actions picking sides, betraying, and propping up dictators. Its like stomping on a red ant mound, hosing it down, and then expecting there will be peace..
For starters, you're indicating how little you know about Islam and the Postmodern left. Did you know that Muslim immigrants tried to kill the Prime Minister of Canada? Youtube:
Mark Steyn
Read "Higher Superstition" for an understanding of the Postmodern Left
Read "Reading Lolita in Tehran" for an understanding on how the Postmodern Left is directly responsible for installing the Ayatollah.
Read "America Alone" for an understanding of why Canada and Sweden are worse off than the US.
Sorry to burst the peace bubble. I'm all for reducing our military presense throughout the world but that is not why Muslims are attacking the western world. Not at all.
Once again, you asked the question about Sweden. If you read "America Alone" you should have avoided that country.
The United states is a signatory of the U.N. convention on torture which defines torture as "Any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind
Article 2 prohibits torture, and requires parties to take effective measures to prevent it in any territory under its jurisdiction. This prohibition is absolute and non-derogable. "No exceptional circumstances whatsoever"[5] may be invoked to justify torture, including war, threat of war, internal political instability, public emergency, terrorist acts, violent crime, or any form of armed conflict.[6] Torture cannot be justified as a means to protect public safety or prevent emergencies.
Is it just me who is at the tipping point, torture is are perception on torture that screwed,it's terrible think about for real now... you live on a rock the same exact rock everyone else that is reading this and we are going to take them and torture others on this rock? also a big one torture isn't what you hear about on t.v. it's gross the stuff that really goes on not even you and i could imagine... it would make even the most stern man cry, God or no God we are in the same boat
JSM555. If you think that waterboarding a person is as simple as sprinkling water in they're face your a nutcase. Torture is to intentionally inflict high levels of pain and suffering on a person to the point where there either going to die, or tell you what they think you wanna hear. You have no idea how cruel waterboarding is for one human to inflict upon another. Dr. Paul knows more then you sir despite the fact that he's a Texan. If it wasn't torture then nobody would be having this debate.
Its not sprinkling, its pouring.. more than a bucket full. Otherwise its like being in the rain... Get real.. The day you lose your principles is the day you are a nutcase.. I don't care who you are...
OMYGOD - Not POURING! Not that!!! Anything but THAT! It would be far better to cut their heads off... or to let them cut an American's head off, wouldn't it, you nitwit!
Which is no different than the Neo Cons, who were once apart of that same party, with their righteous moral equality... Bunch of Federalists... Least back then, those dumb asses acted like they were for the Republic. Of course it wouldn't last since anyone with a brain who knew that big Government means intrusive Government, which means no where near the definition of a Constitutional Republic... so they went with what Europe is all about... Democracy.

What I like to see is one of these terrorist leaders video tape a speech spelling out the reasons why they hate America and attack us, like they can say something like, you are in our territory and mettle to much in our business or, because America supports Israel and should let Israel fight its own battles, and we don't attack you because you are free people. This way it would support Ron Paul's arguments and make them more credible to others in Congress.. Maybe.

Ron is right. It doesn't work. When faced with the option of extreme terror/pain/suffering or giving up some false info in the name of stopping the above listed, one will say just about anything. Not to mention the fact that it's wrong and against everything this country stands for. This isn't Nazi Germany, or the Roman empire, this is America, let's start acting like it.
im not concerned with the human rights of terrorists, so it's hard for me to be passionate about not torturing. but i do not think torture has a place in an ideal society. do away with this war, hence doing away with torture, and make our country safe again.

So Dr. Paul, you think we should have rewarded militant Islam for killing thousands of Americans by completely removing our presence from the Middle East. Wouldn't that encourage them to continue the same behavior?
No, the reason they act like this is because you are over there. Imagine if china had troops in US and they installed a false government. You would fight them. Thats what the Muslims are facing everyday for the last 50 years. Besides America has lost only 3000 man in American soil. There have been 80000 man dead in Iraq!! Are they less human than you? Its time to apologize and pull back and hope they will forgive you. They will not dare touch america again because they dont want anymore war.

then we should have used these other means of interrogation ... if it's unnecessary, then we shouldn't have been using, right? I can understand the use of the techniques (I refuse to call them 'torture', because it's relative) as a last resort when all else fails and time is off the essense. But if other techniques were more effective, then clearly those methods should be used. If we can get info with less forceful methods, that's great. We only waterboarded a couple high level guys though, no?

WTF??????President Obama on blocked releasing detainee abuse photos, he felt it would inflame anti-American opinion and endanger U.S. troops.
Godamn it, release the fucking photos! All of us should pressure the WH to release these photos, if you make a promise be a man Obama. As far as Anti-American opinion, who cares when the chief bad mouths his own country whenever he is OCONUS. Did not matter then should not matter now!!!!!!
"It is working like gravity by night and by day, gaining a little today and a little tomorrow, and advancing its noiseless step like a thief over the field of jurisdiction, until all should be usurped from the states, and the government of all be consolidated into one."
The GOP was crazy to have not rallied behind Ron Paul during the election. Look at Google Trends, the interest in Ron Paul at his peak was more than all the others combined. But instead of rallying behind him and helping to increase his momentum even more our Republican Party excluded him from a debate. Why was the GOP so foolish? Will they be so foolish again in preparation for the 2012 election? We need Dr. Paul in the White House more than ever. Ron Paul 2012!
So what if your family has a military background?--So does mine. You can find as many ex military members against torture as for it.
Concerning what to do with all the military recalled back to the US, if all the overseas bases were closed: Discharge the excess. Have them get another job. Nothing says that anyone in a government job cannot be laid off if not needed. Remember, they are volunteers, not drafted. That's how a free market is suppose to work. Supply =demand.

My main contention is that torture to some is not to others. Some people think loud music is torture (come to think of it, Rap is torturous to me). I think the old 'bamboo shoots under the finger nails", etc is torture.
I see you're striving for discharge of the military. That's your choice.

The problem with 'torture' as we all see it is that it is so subjective. Most of us know blantant torture in the medieval sense but saying some of these current techniques are torture really is laughable. Too many people who know nothing of the real world are Utopians that think we can have a perfect world. No pain, no death, no worries, no enemies, no envy, no crime. Just love, flowers and sunshine. Where in nature, ever, has that occurred?
So, do you know enough of the "real world" to tell us from experience what constitutes torture? Tell you what, have a cop arrest you, put a bag over your head to disorientate you, strip you naked, sleep deprive you, water board you, and make sexual threats against you, all against your will. Then tell us if you found it "laughable". You are just as much a Utopian talking of things that you have not done your self or experienced firsthand.
So that's the measuring stick we're to use? We can only talk about something if we ourselves have experienced it? That will subtract a lot of people from the conversation. The truth is, none of those things you mention is remotely close to the brutal treatment some of our guys have received when captured. Something that always seems to be implied is that if we don't do anything but sit on our hands in our own houses, we will be left alone. There will always be predators and prey....
1. What we do is right because other people have done FAR worse things to Americans. This is based on me and me alone.
2. "... if we don't do anything but sit on our hands in our own houses, we will be left alone" means that unless we go to where predators live in general and take a sample of them to our house and tie them down and torture them for a few months we will be safe. again based on me.
3. "There will always be predators and prey...." That is so intense it must be ALWAYS be true.yeah
1. Well, I don't think you should ever bring a knife to a gunfight.
2. You missed the point. What's being projected here by some is that if do as Ron says and bring all our boys/girls home from overseas and disband the military, why, no one would ever attack us because we're minding our own business. That's what Belgium thought. "I'm neutral!". Big mistake.
Anncoulterforprez is living in his own lala fantasyland.
Dr. Paul has never advocated disbanding the military - but rather using the military for defending the USA instead of being the playtool for the pet projects for foreign interests or the United Nations.
Pehaps Anncoulterforprez is a UN worshipping advocate for depleting US resources for foreign interests.
Well, tell me what we would do with all the military personnel we have deployed worldwide and their equipment? We don't have enough real estate to put them on our shores on Government owned/allocated property. He'd have to disband them in large part. We already have a smaller standing army than China by far. China = 729 million available to military, 2,255,00 active military(2008), while US has just over half that active figure at 1,385,122.
Jessica- There are lots of US soldiers that live abroad with their families. That's very simplistic to think your army, navy, marines, air force are going to go live with mom and dad again. No military power in the world lives in suburbia. They populate bases, the maintain equipment, fuel, food, logistical supplies and vehicles. Weapons of all description. Do you think they can just come home from the 4 corners of the world, watch CNN all day and wait for the phone call from Barack to report?
Anncoulterforplez ACFP backpedaled very quickly. ACFP changed disbanding the military to we couldnt use so much military if we defended the US instead of wasting it around the world on foreign interests and UN directives. Still, ACFP sticks to his love of UN directives and foreign interests - how anti-American. If ACFP so hates the system advocated by our founders and set forth in the Constitution, ACFP can consider moving to the Chinese martial system that ACFP so admiringly gushes about.
No backpedaling. There simply is no room (and now no money to purchase it) on US soil to house the military personnel and the billions of military related ordinance/logistical supplies. You would have to disband it in large part. Not enough ports for the ships, No airspace for planes.
You and others keep mentioning the UN, not me. I thought that place should have been disbanded in the 70's. You delight in taking (un)artistic license in painting other peoples admirations ("admiringly gushes").
Per ACFP, there is no money to staff USA military in the USA, yet plenty of money to continue to expand military bases and occupations and expanding missions and nation building overseas for foreign interests. Now Anncoulterforprez is being absurdly illogical. ACFP is completely contradicting himself.
You sound like Katie Couric. Taking someone's statements, reconstructing them and the disseminating your interpretation of what was said, but trying to make it sound like it's verbatim. Do you feel like you have to do that for your audience? Do they need your approval/interpretation? Surely there is a moderator role awaiting for you somewhere. Perhaps a blog somewhere for those with a cognitive disorder.
Your defending the very Liberals who started the police the world campaign, Wildrow Wilson. Our National Guard belongs at our borders, there is plenty of room. A lot of our bases were closed down here and open up in Iraq, Afghanistan, and the rest of the world. Why are we a bunch of police men? hmm
And I don't care if China is 10x our numbers, they would be foolish to start a nuclear campaign with us... Why is everything war with you Neo Cons... You guys are paranoid.. Wise up..
I'm not paranoid but you'll notice that bullies never pick on the toughest guy on the block. They pick the weak and the unwilling to fight back. I'd be fine if another shot was never fired in anger but history shows there will always be someone ready to attack if you're weak.
You are right, they are not picking on us. We are forcing them in a corner and expecting there should be peace.. History shows that Interventionism is the greatest under mine to your National Security. Just look at Rome and how they expanded so far and went broke...
And we are far from weak...
"Commerce with all nations, Alliance with None, that should our motto." - Thomas Jefferson
1. Torture is okay as long as it makes the Americans that do it feel good. because it is as violent and base as what they are doing. this must be the better way because it makes me feel good.
2. Switzerland was neutral and look what the Germans did to them in WWI and WWII. GOD FORBID we as Americans get the same treatment from the rest of the world.
---"...and disband the military" this idea is so dumb my opposition HAS to believe it. or I'm REALLY lazy.
Ron paul never said to disband the military, He said that if we used the military to protect our nation (as stated by the constitution) we could save money and at the same time be 100 times safer than we are now.
You asked "So that's the measuring stick we're to use?"
"Do unto others as you would want them to do to you"----I think you are familiar with the author, who tortured and crucified for his beliefs. He also forgave his persecutors
Answer me this--Would you you willing to do those things to another living person? Day after day? Or are you one of those backseat patriots that cheer for others to do the dirty work that they themselves are too squeamish to do themselves?
Everything can be put in the abstract and one can then attempt to justify their stance in that narrow qualification. I forgive people that have tortured me. But I will not hesitate for a moment to do what is necessary to save my family, my soldiers, my countrymen from those that want to blow up airplanes and buildings of innocents. As far as backseat patriots, my family is all military, going back to WWII, Korea. I volunteered for Vietnam. I didn't get in though. My broken arm/leg = 4F.
It just goes to show how far we have fallen when Fred from Youtube get's 1Mil+ subs for sounding like a chipmunk and talking utter nonsense and the Campaign For Liberty channel has 11K at the moment.
Fallen??? What standard are you comparing our present to? Man has been marginalizing people like Ron Paul forever. Before Fred was cable, and before that, radio, the newspaper, and, by god, before that was grown men clubbing each other to death in an arena of paying spectators!
If you ask me, we're making damn good progress. Get out there and help the cause.
If somebody tortures your mother, father, a loved one for information when as Mr. Paul says could have just been asked and persuaded instead...wouldn't you want justice in your own eyes?
The U.S. should really think twice about it's reputation around the world. An empire is being ran by corrupt politicians and the people can't even stand up for what is right. America is a democracy and the people need to wake up and do something. They need to hold there representatives accountable. They need to not vote slime balls in to office that offer promises and delude you into a trance of selflessness. WAKE UP!!!!
Should we kill terrorists? Use so-called "enhanced interrogation techiniques"? Or use more brutal forms of torture?
I don't know what kinds of interrogation techniques we should be using in place of Bush era EIT.
I mean, seriously, should we use rubber bullets on the battlefield?
No one really complained when our military killed 3 pirates a month ago. But pouring water on 3 people? And those 3 are still alive, the pirates are dead forever.
Enhanced Interrogations Techniques is a fancy name for more brutal forms of torture... Its all Political Correctness. I don't know why Cheney is bitching about Obama other than distraction, because Obama is enhancing virtually every Bush policy, including torture.
The pirate problem was a hostage situation, that is completely different.
Its partially drowning the suspect... another form of the witch trials.. And it violates Law...
Yeah, but if we apprehend 3 guys and we have intel that these guys know about an impending terrorist attack, that is kind of like a hostage situation. Except not just one captain is threatened, but potentially millions of people, not to mention our markets.
Also, I know the Japanese in WWII sometimes killed people with waterboarding. But we did it over 200 times, so we must be doing it safer?
Maybe the law was written back when terrorists weren't a problem? Time for a rewrite.
"Yeah, but if we apprehend 3 guys and we have intel that these guys know about an impending terrorist attack, that is kind of like a hostage situation."
That is a lousy argument. We have been held hostage to that false premise for years. It's a poor excuse to torture people "Just in case" or "To be on the safe side". Stalin killed millions of his own people "just to make sure" that they were not going to overthrow the USSR, or they "might" be spies. Military intel is an oxymoron!
They don't hate Liberty, everyone loves Liberty. Even all the Dictators all over the world, they love it for themselves and not others. But to say Stateless Factions in the Muslim world want the authority over our lands is a joke.. Our Foreign policy has been the exact opposite to Freedom and Liberty by establishing Puppet Dictators of our own, like Saddam. Its really a Liberal Policy, and by having our troops defending the Saudi King... its an outrage to any free loving Muslim person.
Just think of history as a reference... These people hate occupation, especially for what happened in the Crusades. A bunch of idiots proclaiming its God's work to kill a bunch of non believers.. very Christian like.. We don't even defend the Republic anymore, its all about promoting and forcing down the throats of other Countries... Democracy...
Water boarding comes from Tyrant Governments.. You don't even know if the suspect is guilty either..
The crusades were a counter attack. The Ottoman Empire had been torturing and terrorizing Europeans for 500 years, and they did it 500 years more after the Crusades. Don't make Euros have to own up to the Crusades and dismiss the atrocities that provoked them.
I don't think Muslims want to take our land. I think they want to attack us because we symbolize the kind of liberty they reject, in their own country.
Not all people want liberty. It is always a 3-way competition with order and equality
That does not make any sense, why would they want to attack Freedom and Liberty... We are talking about Stateless factions, not Countries.. States are the ones that cause wars, not people. We never heard of Vietnam till our Government said its Draft time... We started this war, 9/11 didn't fall out of the sky.. It was planned, and cause by our actions in Foreign Policy. The same Liberal policy that is get into everyone's business and always take a side. Interventionism is a disaster.
"why would they want to attack Freedom and Liberty?"
Because they are Islamic fundamentalists, and they believe that Islamic law is best if not for the world, then for their culture.
Islamism is expressly communitarian, and therefore anti-libertarian. So to combat any rising libertarianism in their culture they attack us, and our symbols of freedom and enterprise.
"States cause wars" I know, and that's why the Geneva conventions don't apply to stateless terrorists, only state armies.
I'm glad you agree about the state being the enemy. My point was it's the same logic used by those who promote the use of torture as used by Stalin to off people. The state always come up with the justification to do things that would never fly with any of us in a court of law.
It ticks me off that it's some young soldier is doing the dirty work ordered by privileged elites in 3 piece suits who never witness the suffering and cries of those tortured. Who gets to live with the nightmares?
Always excellente¡

It was in response to the terrorist attacks in the U.S. What caused it to appear preemptive was our means of going about it; we invaded a country in the region to gain a military and political stronghold as opposed to straight out going into a conflict in a place where no one likes us. Becuase of the circumstances, I would argue that this is still justified.

Ron I like most of what you believe, BUT Water~Boarding IS NOT Torture. I wish get that right and stop letting this lie go on. Pulling out finger nails or cutting off body parts or burning skin for example is torture.

so tying a person to a table, covering their face with a wet towel, shoving a sock in their mouth, plugging their nose and pouring water down their throats into their lungs until they drown, then resuscitating them to ask a couple of questions (Repeatedly) isn't torture?
REALLY?
I'd rather lose my fingernails to some pliers thanks.

No I'm not...

Why Sweden?
Sorry to burst the peace bubble. I'm all for reducing our military presense throughout the world but that is not why Muslims are attacking the western world. Not at all.

The United states is a signatory of the U.N. convention on torture which defines torture as "Any act by which severe pain or suffering, whether physical or mental, is intentionally inflicted on a person for such purposes as obtaining from him or a third person information or a confession, punishing him for an act he or a third person has committed or is suspected of having committed, or intimidating or coercing him or a third person, or for any reason based on discrimination of any kind
marcthemartyr 2 years ago 3
Article 2 prohibits torture, and requires parties to take effective measures to prevent it in any territory under its jurisdiction. This prohibition is absolute and non-derogable. "No exceptional circumstances whatsoever"[5] may be invoked to justify torture, including war, threat of war, internal political instability, public emergency, terrorist acts, violent crime, or any form of armed conflict.[6] Torture cannot be justified as a means to protect public safety or prevent emergencies.

Dr. Paul knows more then you sir despite the fact that he's a Texan. then we should have used these other means of interrogation ... if it's unnecessary, then we shouldn't have been using, right? I can understand the use of the techniques (I refuse to call them 'torture', because it's relative) as a last resort when all else fails and time is off the essense. But if other techniques were more effective, then clearly those methods should be used. If we can get info with less forceful methods, that's great.

Anncoulterforprez 2 years ago
Anncoulterforprez
So, do you know enough of the "real world" to tell us from experience what constitutes torture? Tell you what, have a cop arrest you, put a bag over your head to disorientate you, strip you naked, sleep deprive you, water board you, and make sexual threats against you, all against your will. Then tell us if you found it "laughable". You are just as much a Utopian talking of things that you have not done your self or experienced firsthand.
blank557 2 years ago 3
So that's the measuring stick we're to use? We can only talk about something if we ourselves have experienced it? That will subtract a lot of people from the conversation. The truth is, none of those things you mention is remotely close to the brutal treatment some of our guys have received when captured. Something that always seems to be implied is that if we don't do anything but sit on our hands in our own houses, we will be left alone. There will always be predators and prey....
Anncoulterforprez 2 years ago
3. "There will always be predators and prey...." That is so intense it must be ALWAYS be true.yeah
senglord 2 years ago
3. You must not watch nature too much.
Anncoulterforprez 2 years ago
"disband the military" - Huh?
Anncoulterforprez is living in his own lala fantasyland.
Dr. Paul has never advocated disbanding the military - but rather using the military for defending the USA instead of being the playtool for the pet projects for foreign interests or the United Nations.
Pehaps Anncoulterforprez is a UN worshipping advocate for depleting US resources for foreign interests.
joesub 2 years ago 3
Well, tell me what we would do with all the military personnel we have deployed worldwide and their equipment? We don't have enough real estate to put them on our shores on Government owned/allocated property. He'd have to disband them in large part. We already have a smaller standing army than China by far. China = 729 million available to military, 2,255,00 active military(2008), while US has just over half that active figure at 1,385,122.
Anncoulterforprez 2 years ago
That's rediculous. We have plenty of room in our country for our own troops. Where do you think they come from?
JessicaBelle81 2 years ago 2
Jessica- There are lots of US soldiers that live abroad with their families. That's very simplistic to think your army, navy, marines, air force are going to go live with mom and dad again. No military power in the world lives in suburbia. They populate bases, the maintain equipment, fuel, food, logistical supplies and vehicles. Weapons of all description. Do you think they can just come home from the 4 corners of the world, watch CNN all day and wait for the phone call from Barack to report?
Anncoulterforprez 2 years ago
Anncoulterforplez ACFP backpedaled very quickly. ACFP changed disbanding the military to we couldnt use so much military if we defended the US instead of wasting it around the world on foreign interests and UN directives. Still, ACFP sticks to his love of UN directives and foreign interests - how anti-American. If ACFP so hates the system advocated by our founders and set forth in the Constitution, ACFP can consider moving to the Chinese martial system that ACFP so admiringly gushes about.
joesub 2 years ago
No backpedaling. There simply is no room (and now no money to purchase it) on US soil to house the military personnel and the billions of military related ordinance/logistical supplies. You would have to disband it in large part. Not enough ports for the ships, No airspace for planes.
You and others keep mentioning the UN, not me. I thought that place should have been disbanded in the 70's. You delight in taking (un)artistic license in painting other peoples admirations ("admiringly gushes").
Anncoulterforprez 2 years ago
Per ACFP, there is no money to staff USA military in the USA, yet plenty of money to continue to expand military bases and occupations and expanding missions and nation building overseas for foreign interests. Now Anncoulterforprez is being absurdly illogical. ACFP is completely contradicting himself.

"Do unto others as you would want them to do to you"----I think you are familiar with the author, who tortured and crucified for his beliefs. He also forgave his persecutors
Answer me this--Would you you willing to do those things to another living person? Day after day? Or are you one of those backseat patriots that cheer for others to do the dirty work that they themselves are too squeamish to do themselves?
blank557 2 years ago 4
Everything can be put in the abstract and one can then attempt to justify their stance in that narrow qualification. I forgive people that have tortured me. But I will not hesitate for a moment to do what is necessary to save my family, my soldiers, my countrymen from those that want to blow up airplanes and buildings of innocents. Blood conflict? "Blood conflict" does not equal "fix this country."
Good change comes by sober reason, not passion. Put the sword away before you poke yourself in the eye, Braveheart.

Hopefully the govt., or bubba in the federal prison or fema camp will poke you in the ass and cause you to wake up.
And killing enough "Liberal" freaks would fix the country, or at least make it tolerable again.
Go read my quotes page or don't waste my time.

Ron Paul.. spot on as always. Thank you.

lets try some empathy here.

Without military intel, aren't we left with either: telling the the military to take no prisoners, and just kill everything, or never engage in war.
I understand some people may disagree with current wars, but it can be a necessary thing to protect our freedom and prosperity.

If you think I have a lousy argument, please explain it, instead of tossing out a red herring about Stalinism.
I never suggested the military doing anything solely for the preservation of the State, but for the preservation of the individuals.
I agree our enemy is the State, but so are Muslim terrorists whom hate capitalism and liberty.
And I'm not suggesting a total lack of accountability.
The USSR purged people. Waterboarding is more humane than death, there is no coming back from death.

It is always a 3-way competition with order and equality
aeuiono 2 years ago
That does not make any sense, why would they want to attack Freedom and Liberty... We are talking about Stateless factions, not Countries.. States are the ones that cause wars, not people. We never heard of Vietnam till our Government said its Draft time... We started this war, 9/11 didn't fall out of the sky.. It was planned, and cause by our actions in Foreign Policy. The same Liberal policy that is get into everyone's business and always take a side. Interventionism is a disaster.
BIackOp 2 years ago 2
"why would they want to attack Freedom and Liberty?"
Because they are Islamic fundamentalists, and they believe that Islamic law is best if not for the world, then for their culture.
Islamism is expressly communitarian, and therefore anti-libertarian. So to combat any rising libertarianism in their culture they attack us, and our symbols of freedom and enterprise.
"States cause wars" I know, and that's why the Geneva conventions don't apply to stateless terrorists, only state armies.

True Islam is peace, not war. The guys you are talking about are as Christian as the KKK...
Torture is wrong no matter how bad the situation is, and it is very unreliable. It was never successful in capturing Osama...
