Actually, improvs are possible if you know what you're doing. Band I was in blew a channel & the drummer & I carried the solo for 45 min. while the bassist tried everything he knew to get the sound back. You've hit a point: people are STILL sensitive about doing this song right! I've posted the only 1-guitar cover around, but my favorite improv is by MS7911! Almost all improv, but STILL all Free Bird!

If you're gonna improv this solo, y'gotta BRING IT, & MS7911 DOES!

Huckabee was good, but the best part was 5:15. That's when the guy stopped singing. Yes, he did a better job than I could do, but it sounded like he was singing it at a recital. Sounded like he was more worried about getting the notes right than singing the song.
